Is it worthwhile using Blockchain.info exchange to exc between BCH, BTC and ETH?
by

on 20/12/2017, 19:33:50 UTC
I tried finding this info on my own but no luck so far. I am wondering, if the exchange facility provided within the blockchain.info wallet to exchange between BTC, BCH and ETH is worthwhile using or does it have much higher fee than other exchanges available? If the fee is average then I guess its easier to move between these 3 cryptos from within your wallet.

Re: Need advice/tips to recover access to Blockchain wallet

1. Check the balance in that wallet (I don't have any wallet addresses). Is it possible to check balance using identifier only?

As I checked you don't have wallet address with Blockchain so it is impossible to check balance using identifier.

2. Recover access to the wallet.

Second thing as Blockchain supports for back up wallet with multiple ways but user must have to take proper precaution before using blockchain wallet service. If you have backup of wallet with paraphrase or private keys then only it possible, otherwise recovering wallets from blockchain  is also impossible task.

I have wallet.aes.json backup file, but it seems to be encrypted and I do not remember what password I put there.

Need advice/tips to recover access to Blockchain wallet
by
JB0011
on 16/12/2017, 15:18:09 UTC
I had a bitcoin wallet on blockchain.info several years ago. I have the identifier. I lost/forgot the password. I want to do two things:

1. Check the balance in that wallet (I don't have any wallet addresses). Is it possible to check balance using identifier only?
2. Recover access to the wallet.

I have the identifier from the welcome email. I have the 344B wallet.aes.json back up file in that welcome email. I don't remember the password. There was no 2FA enabled. When I try to recover balance from this json file in another wallet, it asks for password. I don't remember what that password was. Maybe its the same as the wallet password but I don't remember. I don't have the pass phrase, I never generated that as far as I remember.

Please advise on how to go about 1) finding the balance in this wallet and 2) recovering access to this wallet.

I'd be very grateful. Thanks!

Bitcoin transaction unconfirmed for 5 days. Help!

A few of my transactions are unconfirmed for 5+ days now. I paid regular priority fee on Blockchain.info (it was $2.xx). Anyone know what's going on?

Do you have a paper wallet? How to securely move BTC to paper wallet?
by
JB0011
on 26/11/2017, 12:34:26 UTC
I'm planning to hold BTCs for a long time. But I also want to be able to sell them for fiat if I see they are crashing. And I want my coins to be absolutely safe. So after tons of research, I found that keeping them online is not safe (like on Blockchain.info wallet) because that can get hacked. The two safest ways are to keep them in a hardware wallet or paper wallet. Buying a hardware wallet at this time is not an option for me, so that leaves me with paper wallet option. The process seems simple enough: create paper wallet, transfer all the coins there and done. And when I want to move them back to online (to spend them), I just use the private keys to upload the coins online. Am I correct

So how do I move the coins to paper wallet absolutely risk-free?

1. Generate BTC addresses using bitaddress.org while computer is offline (is there a safer site to generate the addresses?)
2. Save the BTC addresses in a txt file and write down private keys on a paper. Don't want to risk using a printer. (Do I really need the QR code?)
3. Send coins to those addresses.
4. Relax with the satisfaction that no one can hack my coins now.

This is my plan. If you guys can give any tips to make this process even more safe, please do suggest.

My concern is step 1 and I think that's the most vulnerable step too. What if my coins are compromised when I generate the private key? What if my computer has malware? Can I really trust these Bitcoin address generators? Just a bit paranoid about this process.

Suggestions, please?

Re: What's the average fee you guys are paying for transaction these days?
by

I think there is an option to set the fee yourself in Blockchain.info but I never use that option and let it decide for itself what the fee should be. I fear if I put in a low amount, my transaction may get stuck, don't go through etc.

What's the average fee you guys are paying for transaction these days?

The other day I made two transactions after a month of $55 and 7. And I was surprised to see that Blockchain.info showed that I had to pay $13 fee for each transaction. As far as I remember, the regular fee was around $2-3. Has something changed that I don't know about? Will I have to pay $13 fee for each transaction from now on?

How do you fully secure your BTCs?
by
JB0011
on 17/11/2017, 20:35:20 UTC
How do you make your Blockchain.info accounts fully secure if you want to do a long-term investment in BTC?

Possible risks I think that could happen:
1. Big hack and you lose your coins. E.g, Mt.gox a few years ago.
2. Government seizure and you lose your coins. E.g, BTC-e a few months ago.
3. Small hack and you lose your coins. E.g, someone somehow hacks your wallet.

There may be other risks too that I can't think of right now.

So, how do you guys make absolutely sure that your coins are 100% safe?
Would love to know the steps you take to guarantee your coins' safety - esp if you have Blockchain.info wallet.

Thanks!

Payment gateways that accept BTC and send transfers to offshore banks? Eg BitPay
by
JB0011
on 03/10/2017, 15:12:21 UTC
Which payment gateways accept BTC and send transfers to offshore banks? Like BitPay or Stripe.

The only way to withdraw BTC in my country is using LocalBitcoins.com which does not have any legal standing and no trace of the income origin which is considered as not legal. I earn BTC online through different ways. I don't want any legal troubles. I am thinking about setting up offshore company and bank account. Accept BTC payments which a payment gateway will process and send to my offshore bank account. Then I will use the offshore bank account to make an international transfer to my local bank.

Which BTC payment gateways support offshore countries?

How to take keep your BTCs 100% safe?
by
JB0011
on 05/09/2017, 00:35:10 UTC
I have two accounts on Blockchain.info. I'd like step by step instructions preferably to how I can keep my current + future coins 100% safe from hacks, forgetting password, authorities shutting down the wallet etc. Seems like authorities can shut down any site they like (recent example btc-e). If I back up my private keys or something like that, maybe then I'll never lose the coins even if I forget Blockchain.info password or if it gets hacked or shut down etc. Right?  I'm not sure how it's all done. Please advise.

By new wallet, do you guys mean that I create a new Blockchain account and move all my BTCs there? Or should I just create a new wallet within my same account and send it to that address?

Here's the fastest and easiest way to do it that I know of that another forum member helped me with.

First you have to have your 12 word private key and then you open a wallet for bitcoincash on BTC.com.
There you enter the 12 words to extract the bitcoincash from blockchain.info
Make sure that you use a bitcoincash wallet and not a bitcoin wallet.

full directions are on: https://blog.btc.com/how-to-recover-your-trapped-bitcoin-cash-from-other-wallets-24b929543f26

god speed.

ps: Feel free to ask if anything is unclear.

Thank you, I'll check that out.
There's no risk to my current BTC funds if I go ahead with this, is there?

https://blog.[Suspicious link removed]/2017/08/22/bitcoin-cash-update/

Are you suggesting me to wait until Blockchain starts supporting BCH?

How to claim free Bitcoin Cash on Blockchain.info?
by
JB0011

I'm not very Bitcoin-literate. But I have a couple of Bitcoins. A few days ago I found out that it is possible to get equal amount of Bitcoin cash for free because of the fork. I don't know a lot about what fork is but I know it created this new crypto Bitcoin cash and it is somehow possible to get equal amount of Bitcoin cash. Is that true?

In very easy instructions, can someone guide me on how to do this?
BTW, is this completely safe? Or is there any chance of using the BTC that I have?

How do I make sure to not lose $ value in BTC?
by
JB0011
on 23/07/2017, 20:29:37 UTC
From time to time, I get paid in BTC for my freelancing services. Sometimes, I don't exchange it to real cash and let BTC sit in the wallet. But lately there has been A LOT of fluctuation in BTC price so if I have, let's say, $2000 today, tomorrow I might have half of it. I don't like that kind of a situation. So is there any way to make sure that your BTC gets fixed? Like, somehow fix the BTC price in your wallet. So no matter if actual BTC price rises or falls, you still have the same value that you have today. I think I might be interested in keeping some of my savings in BTC (away from banks) if I can somehow find a way to fix the value that I have today.

Is there a way? Any suggestions?

Re: LocalBitcoin incoming transaction pending for more than 36 hours
by
JB0011
on 23/02/2017, 12:50:44 UTC
Estimation usually isn't accurate at all. A miner can choose to not include your transactions. They can vary for several hours.

I would guess that it was due to your low fee. Could you share your TXID here?

It's pretty obvious that the problem is with the bitcoin network a lot of pending transactions since the past days. So, LBC's incoming and outgoing transactions are also affected with it. Just wait for it and it will be confirmed later on. Can you post your transaction so that we can know if you paid the right miners fee?

Yeah, looks like its due to low fees. But I never manually choose fees. I let it be automatic. Have never set fees.

The first transaction is of 2 BTC and the fees is 0.0003393 BTC.
The second transaction is of 1.68 BTC and the fees is 0.0003393 BTC.

What can I do about it? It's been more than 36 hours.

LocalBitcoin incoming transaction pending for more than 36 hours
by
JB0011
on 23/02/2017, 12:37:02 UTC
Been using LBC for about 6 months and everytime I funded my account there, it took no longer than 30 minutes. But this time two of my incoming transactions are pending for more than 36 hours now. At first it said confirmed in 3 hours, then later changed to 20 minutes, then 30 minutes then 20 minutes again and now its displaying 30 minutes.

Anyone got any idea what's going on and why it has taken almost two days and still not confirmed?

Can we accept payments on previously used BTC address in (new blockchain.info)?
by
JB0011
on 12/01/2017, 10:54:24 UTC
In the old mode (legacy I think it was called), I could see all the BTC addresses associated with my account even when I generated a new one and I could still receive coins on any of the old addresses. I don't know how the new blockchain.info works since I can't find any of the previously owned addresses there. I have that setting that generates a new address everytime I want to receive new coins.

1. Where can I find all the previously generated addresses?
2. Is it possible to receive payments on any of those old addresses?

Is it safe to keep all your Bitcoins in one wallet?

Is it safe to keep all your Bitcoins in one wallet in blockchain.info? I have 2FA activated but still.
