$1500? $1400? Surely at some point you guys will want to get out until things settle down, right? Thanks.
After 1 week? here it goes

https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/ethereum/

Almost back to 1,900 and counting ?

Most of ETH Holders knows and trust the coin, There are even Holder from the below 100 value .

Ethereum 2.0 is just around the corner as the first phase is already released , lets wait for the update in the sooner days.
There are some people who will always write stuff like "IT'S GOING DOWN!!!!" about any coin, there is no stopping that and we have to just come to terms with it, I understand that not many people may find that acceptable behavior but since we can't stop it, we should just let it be at least. Obviously anyone who knows ETH knows that buying eth is a great investment, even right now because it has a great future already planned and mapped out.

I think with the eip 1559 and eth 2.0 we are talking about huge prices, so there was never a wrong time to buy. And here this guy talking about when we will get out, not only I will not get out, I will put even more in because that's what great investors do, they do not run from good investments just because it went down a little, they see it as opportunity and get in more because after all it is going to be good anyway.

I wasn't trying to doom and gloom or cast doubt on ETH... I'm new to this and I just didn't like watching the price of ETH go down every day with no apparent explanation. Had I sold my ETH, my plan was to get back in when it started to appreciate again. Sorry for the confusion.

File coin has also doubled its value over the past couple of days... Anybody know what's going on here? Data is priceless so I can see why these coins would be or should be valuable... That doesn't explain the sudden recent rise in prices though. I'm new to crypto so please go easy on me if this is a dumb question. Thanks!

here is the main causes why the price of StorJ increasing
Coinbase today announced that STORJ is now available on coinbase
, in addition to Coinbase Pro. Read more about it on their blog.

Thanks but that was a couple of days ago and STORJ has appreciated much more than the others listed there.

Original post question is badly set : the real question is at what point would you increase your stack? Eth 2.0 is on the way and the future ( I mean in a long term view) is bright for eth in my feelings.

OP is not likely looking at a long term investment, he is kinda worried about the dump, so he must be investing on short term. That Eth 2.0 will come and I would say it's a great upgrade for ETH now but it all depends on the market situation, if bitcoin is not anymore bullish, then we might only see a little bullish effect but for long term, yes its gonna have a big effect.

I'm in it for the long term, but I'm a noob so this is my first experience with a significant decline in ETH value. As a person who's invested in the stock market for a long time, I guess I'm just having a hard time accepting the price of an investment dipping 10% in a day without an explanation. From the helpful replies on this forum, I'm starting to gather that it's sort of just an accepted event and most likely a market correction... I can live with that... Thanks to everyone for the replies BTW. They've been most helpful!

How long you have been here with crypto market?

Do you really consider 5% fall on the prices is the moment to decide what can be the good exit price?

It depends on when you enter into the market, few months back the price of ethereum was $400 so even $1200 can give them 300% returns.

Since Feb... Haha... Point taken and I feel a bit better... That said, I'm still a bit frustrated since I can't seem to find out WHY ETH just fell 10% in a day... Did I miss something? Does it have to do with the options expiring on Friday?

A balanced portfolio is advisable but I would always recommend a high exposure to bitcoin. It is the best performing asset this century & it’s going from strength to strength.

So you'd keep your alt coin positions during a stock market crash?

If the stock market comes crashing down as some predict, what will you do with your alt coins? Swap them for BTC? I know that many view BTC as a safe haven (like digital gold) but historically, BTC prices have been positively correlated with the stock market. That said, in the case of an actual market crash, I think BTC could act like digital gold and appreciate since it's now more widely accepted as a "real thing" than ever... Perhaps just selling everything for USD and buying real gold would be best? What are your thoughts? TIA

Re: New to this... What's causing the current selloff?

When btc falls even 1% in price, alts react 10 times 'mostly' on that move and lose much more. You have invested in alts or btc? As observed, btc too got hit by a dip of more than 5% in a day which may have been caused due to high fees, US Dollar got strong or whales manipulating it to let Turkish people buy it cheap. It is not possible to find the reasons behind these dips and even pumps except when someone comes ahead and takes the responsibility of the same. Oh yes, may be it got dipped in because it was bloody Monday, and we may see this dip become larger in size.

Thanks, makes sense... I've got a little bit of BTC, but I'm heavy into ETH. I own some other altcoins, but they're all well established ones (all listed on coinbase).

There's no even bad news about crypto but the opposite thing was happening as china is starting to build its own blockchain to run the dapps that fully controlled by the governments.
That being said if im not even seeing this as a big dump for crypto. This is better rather than seeing when the whales dumping their bitcoin a few weeks ago.
You should read this news dude https://cointelegraph.com/news/3-reasons-why-bitcoin-traders-keep-a-close-eye-on-the-futures-funding-rate

You should never feel panic to see that

Interesting article... Thank you very much for that... I'm in this for the long run and I've told myself I wouldn't get into day trading because after fees, it's usually a losing proposition for people with my level of resources. However, it's hard not to pay attention the current market dropping even 5% since I have a significant amount of savings tied up in Crypto.

Let's say the market dropped 10% over a few hours for no apparent reason... Would you get out until things settled down? If not at 10%, what about 15, 20, and so on?

Thanks again!

I see my portfolio has lost around 5% over the past couple of hours. So I searched the internet expecting to find some kind of explanation to no avail. I figured another govt issued a negative statement regarding crypto or something. But that doesn't seem to be the case. If anything, the news stories about crypto seem to be positive today. So can anyone tell me what causes dips like this?

Also, at what point are you guys prepared to sell to protect against a crash? Do most of you have sell stop orders on the books to protect against a crash? Thanks in advance!
