I think that even though we saw price rise from early 2019, it is still a good time to make an investment in crypto.

I'd say there you shouldn't wait for a bull run in 2019. Not until 2021, that is.

If you can just speculate with the crypto because this is what is seems to be doing this whole time (Q3 and Q4 of 2018 + Q1 of 2019).

Re: Elon Musk Calls Bitcoin A Brilliant Technology, Even Better Than Paper Money
by

I wonder if he smoked a joint before making such a statement.

If he finds cryptocurrency such a brilliant innovation, then why don't he has it or bought it? He only hold a bit, that was granted his from a friend.

He might be a supporter of the technology behind them, but not BTC or any altcoin specifically. Especially if you take in mind that you can't set up a business or purchase fuel for your rockets without using fiat  Smiley

Re: Let's analyse Bitcoin's recent market rise
by

on 27/02/2019, 10:33:17 UTC
I see the increase of bitcoin from the point of view as a speculator, I will not analyze it as an enthusiast, nor as an investor.
I think the increase was to test the supply levels between 4100USD and 4300USD, they made a strong movement, with a large volume, which indicated that there was offer, many operators came in because they thought it was a key point to keep going up. . .and they simply fell into the trap, sold Bitcoin, took advantage of the Stop Loss to buy cheaper than it is now at the current price. And what can happen? We just have to wait for days and we can realize the direction Bitcoin takes and the market in general.

As much as the enthusiast inside me wants to see crypto & BTC as a method of investment, I come to the conclusion that you just prescribed. To see it only from a speculative point of you, day-trading while the whole deal is not dead yet and gain as much profit from it as you can. Every time the market had a price increase, we almost immediately saw a huge dump.

Just a few hours after OP, the price is back to what it was previously. So everything said in the original post is no more valid. The uptrend is over now and we're going to the opposite.
This said I don't think any of the points are responsible for the past week performance. Why? Because we got the same every now and then., On the top there is nothing special.

Yeah, i think I have to agree with you now. There is no point in discussing anything about news/rumours affecting the BTC's price. It's just unpredictable and highly speculative. Even when you think you've got it, you are wrong. BTC and crypto and general seems to follow other rules and we just haven't figured them yet.

Let's take a look at the more recent events. The rise on 17/02/2019 was almost when JPM announced his crypto. The announcement was on 14/02/2019 but I guess the market needed a few days to make the needed corrections to BTC's price.

JPScam was not a trigger. And that's why current developments don't add up.
You've missed the news about Nasdaq adding Bitcoin and Ethereum price indices. The news came out in February 14th and the listing will happen tomorrow (Feb 25). And this covers both.

Ethereum hard fork (February 28) may also count.

We have a busy week ahead of us  Cheesy

You are totally right! I missed the news about Nasdaq and the ETH fork. Yet, it seems that it was another pump&dump as we just saw a 5% fall  Angry

Let's analyse Bitcoin's recent market rise
by
Jamesib1
on 24/02/2019, 09:45:41 UTC
I would like for us to analyze, as much as we can, the reasons behind the recent Bitcoin's market rise. Either it be rumours, news articles or a word from someone's mouth there has to be a reason behind the recent price rises. Everybody just says vague things in other threads like "crypto winter is over" or "we will see some more downs" but noone sat down and wrote some of the events that propably have influenced the market price.

Shall we begin? First thing first. The first BTC market rise we saw in 2019 was when we heard from a U.S sec a rumour that BTC will propably pass ETF. This was around 08/02/2019. I couldn't find the article, but i recall reading about this event around that time on Bitcointalk.

Let's take a look at the more recent events. The rise on 17/02/2019 was almost when JPM announced his crypto. The announcement was on 14/02/2019 but I guess the market needed a few days to make the needed corrections to BTC's price.

This leaves us with the yesterday's market rise. From what I have gathered throught the web, we are hitting the deadline of Feb 27's decision on VanEck-SolidX Bitcoin ETF . Now, I wouldn't be surprised if some investors decided to invest in BTC prior to this event, as it could have really high % of success and we will see an approval. That will definetly be the sign of a new bull run and the end of crypto-winter.

Correct me, if I'm wrong but this is all I could gather and put together in the last few days. There is certainly a huge proapbility that everything of this is wrong and that it's just another pump&dump scheme.

What are your thoughts? Huh Post some news, articles or whatever you got and could propably get a bigger picture of what is happening.

It seems to me that we're getting a small pump before staying at $200 for a long period of time, that is, until the fork happens. Something tells me that this is not another pump&dump, though anything could happen in this extremely volatile cryptomarket.

If they already lied about one thing they promised (delivering debit cards), what makes you so sure that they won't do it again ? That this is a good idea to invest your money in a project that already shows some red flags?

I am fairly new to the Bitcointalk forum. Took me a few days to find, read and understand what a merit system is and how it works. I congratulate you on your achievement, as I understand what a difficult path it is even from a newbie perception.

It's a very complicated system. Feels almost like a second work you voluntary take to create interesting quality posts and simply by helping others. So you should feel king of the hill. You have every right to it  Smiley  Plus, for me, as a newbie, every TEMP and Legendary is an example to strike for.

Re: Bull run for all?
by
Jamesib1
on 18/02/2019, 08:15:57 UTC
Bull run ! Bull run!!
Please I care to know if the bull run we are expecting is actually for all altcoin,is it also including those altcoin with another wallet too.

Let's take a look at the current situation. Bitcoin's market price is seeing a small uprising compared to what it has lost throughout the last year. Certainly, it is not THE bull run, but it seems to improve the situation with all the news about ETF or JPMcoin we've heard in the last few days. It could also mean another pump & dump period, but for now there is not much we can say. We lack the proper information to be in that position. Just remember that in economy, every market works with cycles. There will be ups & there will be downs. Crypto will experience another bull run, maybe not in the levels of 2017 (because it looks similar to the first ever bubble - the tulip mania bubble in 1637) but it will certainly stay with us for a long time.

Now, to your second question. Will BTC's price rise affect other coins? Sure, there is a still ongoing correlation between top-20s or top-100 coins and BTC's price. As you can see, the market of altcoins continue to experience growth for the last few days. The same days BTC's price experiences growth as well. Will it stay forever that way? Certainly no. But, you should not worry about it for the whole 2019.

Re: [ADA] Will Shelly effect Cardano's price?

The eagerly awaited Shelley update is very much quickly nearing its release from the Cardano foundation.
Is such an upgrade should lead to a dramatic in price?

I am not sure if the ADA has a price increase, but I believe in the long term Cardano is a coin I want to hold. I'm holding a huge amount of ADA, but I don't think the ADA will increase much this year.

I agree with you. I also hodl some amounts of ADA as this coin has some good potential in the 1-2 year span for a long-term investment.

by

I feel like the majority of other commentators before me fail to grasp that this coin will be ony for internal transfers. It won't promote the usage of cryptocoins, it won't help us in any means. It just uses the blockchain technology, so those big fiat whales could exchange even faster to make even more money. JPMcoin could have a negative effect on XRP, though but we can't know for sure right now.
