Aside from reddit and bitcointalk, I think it's completely possible to create a crypto community located near you.  Meetup is a great way to connect with people who are interested in the same hobby. I'm sure if you created a meetup in your area, there will be a few people that would love to meet you and talk about your crypto endeavors.
