Re: Panic of traders
by

on 16/09/2018, 02:08:23 UTC
Every day I see more and more people starting to feel hopeless with the current market situation because of uncertainty when prices will recover and end this fall. Even more and more traders are deciding to resign from trading and sell all of their assets but that makes the price even more falling.
All I see is a bunch of headless chickens giving each other negative energy and chopping more chickens heads off...
Seriously, relax. There is never a never-ending upward growth spurt...bigger drops and even bigger highs with bitcoin. It's always been like this, get over it!

The article about why Jaxx couldn't add Monero to their wallet, which does support Dash already btw, reminds me of my own difficulties when I tried running a monero node locally. In the end just like Jaxx I had to give up on Monero.

I'd be worried if I was holding monero - it won't scale, can't be integrated into payment systems / wallets easily - not much of a future if you ask me

this is very correct, monero isn't a long term option compared to the other opportunities out there

This is what happens with bitcoin. A bitcoin user, highly trusted can be an illegal carder. Ty anonymity.

Wait... Does that mean bitcoin is illegal in India?

There are few things to it........ the same way it happened with Ross Ulbricht, he confessed under duress, in India there is no 5th amendment or in short no protection against self incrimination. If we all take everything that has been reported as true, then why are we ignoring the trivias. For instance The Joint Commissioner of Police (source http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/tech/tech-news/Card-fraud-Cybercriminals-using-bitcoins-to-trade-money/articleshow/50927536.cms?)categorically says that Bitcoin as a form of payment is illegal in India as decreed by Reserve bank of India - which is utter rubbish. Police arrested Pankaj as they do not have any other scape goat. He is arrested because he has dealt in bitcoins and failed to ascertain the motive of the people involved in the trade. The same way Charlie Shrem got indicted - allegedly supplying bitcoin to drug dealers. They arrested him because he failed to ascertain the motive of the people who bought bitcoins. So, the case is, if I sell knives and some one buys one to commit murder, then I am a party to the crime - is this fair.

The point which everyone alludes to is - Police in India has deemed Bitcoin buying and selling illegal (in cash or through bank channels) sooner or later you will find users getting rounded up for using bitcoins. Pankaj received money and sent Bitcoins in return that is his only crime. His honesty in deals and on localbitcoins is above reproach. He is not a guy to get involved in card fraud. He was used and dumped.

It is easy to label someone as a scammer, there are many who have dealt with pankaj on this forum as well as on localbitcoins. He dealt with someone in cash and that someone turned out to be a carder. He is not a carder neither a scammer. Wait for the outcome of the trial - if he is allowed one.

I am not too familiar with the real life identities of the people in this forum, but isn't escrow.ms' real name also Pankaj Bharadwaj?

Yeah. Not a very pleasant piece of news.
http://coinsecure.tumblr.com/post/139031335450/a-change-in-coinsecure

How do you ascertain motive of a person buying or selling bitcoin. Is a person guilty of not ascertaining the motive of the opposite party? Do we have to ascertain the purpose of the buy and sell ? more importantly, is it illegal to buy and sell bitcoins in India, as stressed by the police? In that case many of us are guilty, as we have traded in bitcoins. Where has RBI stated that buying and selling of bitcoins illegal?  Huh Huh

There are few disturbing trend to the news

indeed escrow.ms is Pankaj Bharadwaj

but the most disturbing part is the statement by JCP ( Joint Commissioner of Police) Ravindra Yadav - "The police claim that the Reserve Bank of India has decreed illegal all trade and use of virtual currencies as a medium for payment." (source http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/delhi/Card-frauds-used-bitcoins-to-trade-money/articleshow/50922983.cms) - which is not true. RBI has not decreed Bitcoins illegal in any ways. Is this an illegal frame up of Pankaj? You cannot charge somebody who sells a knife, for murder?

So, in essence, according to Delhi Police, anybody or everybody associated with buying or selling of bitcoins in India, are involved in an illegal trade. That includes Zebpay, Coinsecure, Unocoin, all the sellers on Localbitcoins and others. Last but not least, Localbitcoins.com is also a party to the crime -  as a facilitator.

So guys, if you have bought or sold bitcoins then be prepared for a knock on your door or a visit to the nearest police station.

You mean without the heat sinks?
( I don't have one - just making sure people understand what you're asking for.  Dogie's guide does have some good quality pictures at angles, but I suppose you're looking for nice flat perpendicular shots. )

my bad, the heat sinks in question. thanx for the clarification. yeah looking for flat shots.

I am researching for a series of article on the evolution of bitcoin mining hardware, their socio-economic impact and the creation of a bitcoin ecosystem. Can somebody be kind enough to post high res pics of a complete Spondoolies-tech SP35 board without the fans. I came across Dogie's comprehensive guides, but yet to find a complete board picture for the SP35 and SP30. Dogie's SP20 board pic https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7492/15775706848_0f9848d583_o.jpg can be considered as an ideal point of reference.

Spondoolies SP20 overclock/downclock frequency range

Hope, I am in the right place to ask a noob question. I was comparing Antminer with Spondoolies and have a question regarding the OC. In case of Antminer the frequency can be seen on the miner dashboard, what happens in case of Spondoolies. All I have found is Voltage/Watt range (Max and permissible) no mention of any frequency. Can somebody guide me to a better understanding?

Re: who are selling at these prices
by
Jeremias
on 01/02/2015, 07:06:21 UTC
Think we underestimated the cost of mining. If we look at the current hash rate statistic, the drop is not significant and that means there are still people who leave their machine running. Generally miners won't do that if it's not profitable.

Then, isn't this a paradox, when prices were $3 at the start of 2013, miners were there and now also miners are there, so does that seem to point to the fact that mining is price independent. No matter what the price is there will be miners and sellers.

Coinbase "Lunar" nothing new to offer
by
Jeremias
on 26/01/2015, 16:08:49 UTC
Coinbase hype around "Lunar" will not add anything substantial. They are not offering anything that is not being on offer, moreover other exchanges are already there e.g coinsetter, buttercoin. CoinXtrader is an example that has licenses in 32 states, but is not backed by VC funding so no marketing.

The important question is will "Gemini" or "Lunar" resolve the fundamental question -  Consumer adoption or uptake. No. they will not, the only thing they will help is to dump more coins. The price is held due to liquidity issues. Make bitcoin buy/sell more liquid, then we will see price dynamics. I know there will be comments - "we are not here for price" or "it does not matter what the price of 1 bitcoin is" but for few like me it does matter.

Edit: Expect imminent dumps

Bitfinex CSO admits insider trading
by
Jeremias
on 21/01/2015, 17:27:23 UTC
Phil G. Potter is a major stakeholder of Bitfinex and has administrative access to the backend platform including direct access to the database and is often present on a teamspeak voice channel where around 200 trader chat and share trading analysis.

Yesterday he was asked if he trades on his own platform Bitfinex, to which he replied yes. He was then grilled "don't you think that is a conflict of interests because you have special access to the platform?" - that is, he can see things normal traders cannot, like hidden orders, the size of everyone's accounts, the open margin positions of accounts, exact trading activity of each user, how much USD is flowing into and out of the exchange (he would have the competitive advantage of knowing when big players are feeling bullish). All of this gives a huge competitive advantage. After this questions, he tried to back-pedal but made it worse by trying to justify it by saying because he is an early adopter (meaning he has a lot of coins and qualifies as a whale) he "only trades a little bit here and there".

http://vocaroo.com/i/s1JIOjeIjWbN <-- transcript of him trying to backpedal out of saying he trades but rather "invests"

"Currently Phil manages a Bitcoin arbitrage and trading hedge fund" (this information found on https://tether.to/team/). This constitutes a serious conflict of interest. Anyone who has any experience with hedgefunds know that margin calls and stoplosses are extremely confidential for a reason.
