BitStamp Verification
by
Jeteroll
on 26/05/2014, 03:51:37 UTC
Hello all. I have a bank statement and my drivers license that I am going to use to verify my BitStamp account. I was wondering if I can scan them to PDF files and submit those or if I have to scan them to image files like JPG. If I had to send an image file then I would have to go into like photos how to piece all the pages and backsides of pages into one image. Thanks!

Hello all, I was wondering if I would get denied when I try to verify my account at Bitstamp or Kraken because I'm only 17. And what is the easiest way to buy BTC under 18?

because SEPA/Wire transfer don't allowed to under legal age in bank.
some banks allow you to have a visa debit card at the age of 13/14 dependant on country etc, so if you are old enough to have a bank account and old enough to wire transfer funds from it. then there is no issue with some services. localbitcoins.com for instance will have no issues with this. but read the terms of service of bitstamp and kraken

bitstamp
By opening an account to use the Service ("Account"), You expressly represent and warrant:

    1. You have accepted these Terms; and
    2. You are at least 18 years of age and have the full capacity to accept these Terms and enter into a transaction involving Bitcoins.

kraken
You further represent and warrant that you: (a) are of legal age to form a binding contract (at least 18 years old in the U.S.);

I have a bank account, although it is one of those attached-to-parent's-account ones. I have a licence and everything. Will Bitstamp actually deny me if I give them my info?

Thanks so much I love you guys!

How Do You Buy BTC?
by
Jeteroll
on 09/05/2013, 03:30:12 UTC
Hey guys, I was wondering how you buy bitcoins. What exchange/service do you use and why? I'm a newb and want to start buying some bitcoins and I'm leaning towards coinbase because of it's ease of payment, although I do not know how long it takes for bank transfers to complete. Gox is to centralized it seems, and getting money into Gox seems to be very hard, especially with Dwolla, which has many hoops on its own. I wish I could use a smaller exchange like Bitstamp, but I don't know how to easily deposit money there, and Bitinstant doesn't help much, I don't want to drive to do a cash deposit, and the fees are high. Thanks for your input Cheesy

Newb Question :P

Newb here, I was wondering what would happen to miners when the hard limit is reached? Would they all have to shut down because they wouldn't generate anymore BTC? Who/what would process transactions?
I'm pretty sure I've got it at least a little wrong here, if so, please explain Smiley
Thanks,

CGMiner Problems
by
Jeteroll
on 06/05/2013, 22:00:39 UTC
Hello all,
I have an AMD HD 7970 overclocked to 1200/1525MHz running CGMiner on Windows 8. Since I received my new 7970, I have been mining happily for about a day without problems. Then, mid-day today, I got errors from CGMiner and it had stopped mining. Upon further investigation, after this happened a few more times, I saw that windows event viewer said that around the times this error occurred, my display driver had stopped working, but recovered giving me the error;

Code:
"Display driver amdkmdapp stopped responding and has successfully recovered."

This is happening more and more frequently while mining and every time it does I get the CGMiner error;
Code:
[2013-03-24 11:43:31] Error -6: Creating Command Queue. (clCreateCommandQueue)
[2013-03-24 11:43:31] Failed to reinit GPU thread 0
 [2013-03-24 11:43:31] Thread 0 no longer exists

Every time I could close CGMiner and then open it back up and it would work fine, but now when I put in my pool info, it crashes immediately and gives me the windows event viewer error;
Code:
Faulting application name: cgminer.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x514557a8
Faulting module name: cgminer.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x514557a8
Exception code: 0xc0000005
Fault offset: 0x0000b13a
Faulting process id: 0x8ec
Faulting application start time: 0x01ce4aa315ed55e5
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files (x86)\CG Miner\cgminer.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Program Files (x86)\CG Miner\cgminer.exe
Report Id: 6d4f8e1e-b696-11e2-be77-902b34de9daf
Faulting package full name:
Faulting package-relative application ID:

Finally, as this is happening, I have noticed that Afterburner says that my GPU is constantly spiking up to 40% usage, then back down to 0%.

Please help Smiley

Hybrid Gaming/Mining Rig
by
Jeteroll
on 10/04/2013, 02:45:29 UTC
So I'm building a hybrid gaming/mining rig, and I want to be able to have two of my 7950's in crossfire at at least x8 mode, and then a third slot for another old mining card at x8. Can this board do this for me:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128509

Or do I have to get a Crosshair?
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131876

Seems I need the Crosshair because the Gigabyte one can't run a third card in x8 is this correct?

looks pretty good Smiley id pick a GPU that shoves the air out of the back of the case but been as theres only 2 you should be fine
case has good cooling nice PSU all in all not bad and easy upgrade in future
Thanks man! I would have picked one of those out of case exhausting cards but they all had bad cooling and this one had superb cooling. I definitely considered it though.

Miner Build Advice
by
Jeteroll
on 06/04/2013, 18:46:42 UTC
Hey guys, I'm about to build my first miner but I want to also be able to use it as a gaming PC if needed. Please check out my build and tell me what you think. Thanks!

Case: Cooler Master HAF X (I don't want an open case and this has really good reviews and supposedly great airflow.)
CPU: An old Phenom II X4 925 2.8 GHz (Who cares anyway Tongue)
HDD: An old WD 500 GB (Again, who cares Tongue)
RAM: 4 GB old G.Skill DDR3 1333 (Old stuff again doesn't matter.)
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-990FXA-UD5 (I would have gone with the UD3 but this one has a better PCI-E slot config in case I wanna throw a third old GPU in.)
PSU: Corsair AX850 Gold (Good Corsair quality, and has 3 6-pins and 3 8-pins for my GPU's.)
GPU: HIS HD 7950 IceQ X² 3GB (Will be upgrading to two of these soon, this one had great reviews and supposedly awesome temps for OCing even though its an HIS.)

Wish I could post in the hardware forum Tongue

Newb Mining Multiple GPU's ;)
by
Jeteroll
on 02/04/2013, 03:52:57 UTC
So I'm obviously a newb but I love the concept of Bitcoin and I am really into programming/networking so I've been dabbling around mining and stuff to see what this is all about. My question is, with CG Miner, can I throw old GPU's into my extra PCI-E slots and run separate workers/CG Miner's on them? If so please explain how unless it's just that simple Smiley If not, could this be done with a different miner or something? Thanks!
