Im new to mining and only have two S3's for a bit of fun. Not out to make any real profit just something to do. Im just wondering what sort of income i could get (rough ballpark figure) on this pool with one or both of my s3's. Can anyone give me an idea?

My last three payouts from yesterday with two S3s were .00172, .00171, .00171 - or about $0.65ea.

I started this pool two days so I'm waiting for my 5n to catch up to see the full potential this pool has!!
Been hearing great things about it! I'm giving it 3 months to see payment  results. To compare with the other pool I have been in!
So here is too a better tomorrow!

I sincerely believe you are in a good place here... and the operators don't get any better than this... stay here.

Quoted the most important bits of leejohn's post. Good pool, good operators, *GOOD* for Bitcoin!

the 5Nd looks stable over a few days but varies over the examples.  using same "equipment" but not same hashrate.

Hi

It was the same S3, but I have a confession, between november and decemeber, I did a bit of pre xmas surgery because I thought it was running a bit to hot, I found the inside was stuffed with dust bunnies, so I stripped it down and blew it out with an airline, unplugged and tried to clean all the connections, even added a wifi antena, then after putting back together I updated the firmware, and threatened it, that if it didn't run cooler and faster, I would sell it on ebay..

apparently this threat seemed to work, because it runs cooler, and faster, like it did when it was new. still wired in as yet, but planning on using wifi.

Ste

This is what keeps grabbing my attention, and likely what sky_g is referring to:

You compare Kano ->
384195   18/Nov 19:04   24.82829424   329.586G   178hr 36m 31s   2.20PHs   0.00%   13.514M   90.27GHs   0.00101805
-and-
390432    27/Dec 07:42   24.81187616   469.898G   96hr 59m 1s   5.78PHs   0.00%   6.848M   84.24GHs   0.00036157

With your other pool ->
25808   27/12/2015 19:28   66 minutes   40.05 Ph/s   455.9 Gh/s   0.00028074   25.17061072 BTC   99

It appears you didn't have a S3 (~450GH/s) pointed at Kano for the full 5nd when it was at the other pool. You are comparing an apple to a hazelnut...

My rig seems to be mining ok. Here's it's hash rate from the "Shifts" when the last block was found: http://prntscr.com/9czhww

Here's its N Avg on the "Rewards" screen for the same block: http://prntscr.com/9czicm

I'm just trying to understand how it's N avg on the Rewards screen was a lot lower than the actual Hash Rate showing on the Shifts screen. Am I missing something regarding the calculation for N Avg?

If you look at the Avg Hs column on the Shifts page, the rough 5n is about where the red line is (quick way of comparing without having to do any figuring). In your case, you probably haven't mined the full 5n yet (roughly @ 50%) and need to wait longer.

If you average 1.1T from the top of the shifts page all the way down to the payout line (currently at Dec-06 11:41:55), then your rewards would be around 1.1T. Any lower amounts will decrease your avg.

Has anybody had issues with Kano's s3 update? The day i moved my 2x s3's here i updated them with Kano's update. I bought anther s3 whilst mining here and it came with an earlier version of the update perhaps. I know it looked different to what i had with my other 2. I left it with that update. Saturday i noticed my hash rate was down a lot. I checked the miners and the most recent one wasn't hashing. There were no values in the status area. I rebooted it and stayed the same. unplugged it for a bit and powered on it was still the same. I did a factory reset through the web GUI and it started hashing again. So I put the latest update on the same as my other 2 and it hashed for a while so i thought problem was solved. I discovered yesterday it had died again sometime after the update. I have factory reset it again and is hashing happily again for the last 2 hours. Any good advice out there?

Noticed over the weekend that my 2 S3s (both /K software versions) started acting strange also but everything seems to be going well this morning. Just glanced at them now and both keep showing less than 10GH/s in the GH/S(5s) box, even though the pool stats show what I should be submitting.

It was, however, enough to plant the S7 seed in my head again...

Well, if you guys want, maybe we could pool some rentals sometime.
I'm sure we could figure out a person to hold the money, if not one of us 3 maybe buzz OGNasty. He might be interested.

If you don't mind that I ask...
What are each of your strategies?

Deposit X amount of BTC and use unlimited speed until the coin is depleted?
Deposit X amount of BTC and use speed ranging from 100TH - 500TH - 1000 or more, les, etc until the coin is depleted?
Deposit X amount of BTC and use low speed say in the range of 10TH until the coin is depleted?

I believe the last post I saw someone mentioned 200 TH was used a few times?

Appreciate any information you care to share.

I'm open to a 1btc pitch-in to a large rental. Need to get the good luck vibes going again.

At $0.02 per KW, you are profiting on average $320.00 per month for each S7
You have to recoup your initial "investment" (purchase price of hardware + psu) before you see any profit.  Even with 2 cent power (which is rare in and of itself) you won't see profit for over a year. That's why I mention ROI even at low power rates.  New hardware purchased at retail price just doesn't make any sense right now.

Not necessarily.  If you plan on selling the machine, say at half price, you more or less get back your initial investment back at that point.  And PSUs.... I reuse what I can,  but that's assume you're replacing/upgrading capacity, not adding.

Anyways... my plan is to mine for 6 months, and then see what a used S7 will go for.  If I can replace all my miners with a single S7, that's a win, too!

I'm just a hobby guy, though.  This is not my day job.  Everyone's circumstances are different...

That was my train of thought also. I have my little 'hobby mine' of 2xS3 and an S5 running around 1.8TH avg at just under 1200W. Once the used S7 machines start to hit the marketplace, hopefully at sub $1k prices, I should be able to more than double my hash for the same amount of power. Any amount I can get from reselling the S3/5 machines will help offset the upgrade.

That's also assuming a used market develops for the S7 in 4-6 months. Next week's new technology could turn into vaporware or unobtanium and the S7s will dominate through the halving. Then again, new tech (SP50, et al) could transition the mining game into more co-op operations, even at the hobby level.

My next rig should be delivered and online tomorrow. Not much in a single S5, but it helps.

Anyone have any dead S3 boards? Heat sink on one was being stubborn during removal and...well, I need a couple of the 470uF capacitors and a new LM75A thermal sensor.  Embarrassed

Arris gateways were known to have dropping issues when used as a home gateway. I recall something about changing the DHCP scope away from 0.2 -0.9, as those addresses seemed to be most affected. I think there was also an issue with high active/open connections causing them to overflow and reset the network stack. (this was many years ago - I would have assumed it would have been addressed by now)

The Arris gateways aren't really designed to be run as complete network gateways. They're best used as a bridge to a dedicated router if stability is something you are looking for. I'm still running an old 54G as a wireless bridge in front of the miners and use an RT-N60 for my main router.

Pulled a couple S3s off solo to sit here for a bit.

Like the web interface. It looks similar to one we use for monitoring our server room temps. Makes it easy to have the mining stats page open all day at work.  Grin  Cool
