I've seen btc go from $1000 to below $500 and then go very close to $18k before going down to sub $10k before this so I'm not even surprised anymore. Though if you use those milestones as indicator then we could be seeing $20k very soon.

I doubt that, the popularity of BTC really increased in 2020 and still increasing in this year as pandemic has not yet subsided. What I mean is that, the milestone might be a good reference, but if you are seeing that way, you might also consider other factors such as popularity of it.

I'm still really seeing this through until it reaches maybe 50k then sell. And might then see if it goes up or down without any regret in my side

That comment was made before all the news happened. After musk's tweets and the $1.5b purchase caused various big companies to consider their options (and speaking about it) I pretty much doubt we'll go down to $20k anytime soon unless big things happens.  Still, I think a bottom at around $35k would be possible in a month or two after all these hypes dies down.

Haven't been using bitcoin in over a year so I've no idea where to check or how to make it faster. Can I still spend the output with higher fee to make it confirm faster?

It's normal for blockchain.info to not show a transaction right away.  Happens to me all the time since months.  There's nothing to worry about though.

Actually never mind about the command line.  Apparently it's not available for windows.
Just enter this in the python console: signtransaction('unsignedrawtransaction')

You'll have to import the keys to another wallet however.  Supposedly you can use external keys by using signtransaction('unsignedrawtransaction', 'privkey=xxx') but for the life of me I can't get that to work.

Re: Help- Could the seller have sent from the address with unconfirmed deposits?
by

on 23/08/2017, 02:28:22 UTC
I bought BTCs from bitcoin.com.au around 20 hours ago and it is still showing 0 confirmations in my wallet. I checked on the blockchain.info (I am only a newbie) and to me it looked as if the bitcoin address from which they sent had  unconfirmed deposits into that account. Could it be the reason for my transaction not being confirmed?

Yes. And that transaction comes from a long chain of unconfirmed parent transactions. All paid around 222 to 300 sat/B fee. I think that's high enough to confirm those 10 or so transactions within half a day.

What happens if the transactions doesn't go through for a few days and get lost? does the coin go back to the seller/sender OR he can double spend by associating the higher network Fee?

Both can happen.

Re: Trouble with Replace-By-Fee Option

I sent my last transaction with a low fee and the "replace by fee" option enabled, just to give it a try. Now when I right click the unconfirmed tx in the History tab and select "Increase fee", it gives me the option to set a higher fee. But when I try to sign the new transaction, I get an error message that looks like this: http://imgur.com/a/O1vyD

Should this feature work when using Electrum with a hardware wallet? I did not click the "Final" checkbox after setting the higher fee; is that required? I'd welcome any help!

EDIT:  Might the error have anything to do with the original transaction only having one output?

Checking the "Final" checkbox will make the transaction non-replaceable.  Having only one output shouldn't be a problem.

Try signing the transaction using the command line or another wallet.  For the command line check how at http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/coldstorage_cmdline.html

it is really difficult to understand how to calculate activity ?  and time X 14

Can any one explain clearly .. How do i calculate ?

People have explained this countless times in this thread.  You get 14 max activity for every two-weekly "activity periods" that you've posted in.  So if you've posted in 5 activity periods your max activity would be 70 (5x14).

We don't ban account/IP.
Just be sure to be the only one claimer using an IP.

Dude, I know you've worked hard to provide all the change, but if it's about the server load then just go back to the previous few seconds limit per account per IP and increase the limit.
Your new system is not fair for people with subpar internet connection that needs to reload their page every once in a while.  And well most people that works for mrai instead of buying them are from regions with subpar internet connection.  Wink

Just saying.

Re: Problems with Transaction
by
Jhanzo
on 21/02/2017, 15:40:06 UTC
Should be confirmed soon.  The 50 satoshi per byte fee is too low to make the transaction confirms faster.  Recommended is 100 satoshi per byte or more.
Next time if you find yourself waiting a little too long for a transaction to confirm because of the low fee, use this site.
You should move the fee slider on electrum a little bit more to the right.

Re: If you had 10K $, what coins would you invest in?
by
Jhanzo
on 20/02/2017, 09:58:06 UTC
I know some people already invested more than 5K $ on raiblocks.  Personally I'd go with BTC for a very, very long term investment.  With small amount on ETH and ETC.

Can you tell me about RaiBlocks?

You can learn more of about it from here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1381323.0

Quote
Why RaiBlocks?
No fees: The RaiBlocks network has no notion of fees.
Low latency: Transactions are natively processed instantly giving a responsive experience.
Scalability: Micropayments require a system capable of significant scalability
Simplicity: Users have a simple experience without technical jargon.

Also the "mining" is done by people and not by CPU/GPU/ASICs.

There's a trading thread too: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1422828.0.
3 weeks ago the price was around 50 satoshi.  Now it's around 400 satoshi.
