Re: [ANN] SpartanCoin - Cryptocoin for the competitive world.

I read a bit about Spartancoin, and it sounds great to me.  However, I would urge the developers to delay launch, if necessary, to be sure everything is right.

I know that the focus right now is getting the wallets to complile.  But it would probably be best to do some testing of the wallets before releasing them.  Sometimes a bug does not show up right away.  So first make sure that the wallets are good, bug free.  I assume the other code checks out.  Then go ahead an launch.  But if it takes another week to get it right, take the week.

Anyway.  All the best to the Spartans among us!!!

lol seriously people expecting anything from a coin with such a name?

I mean where do you see a coin named spartan grow as a serious currency in the future.

SPARTAN STOP THIS MADNESS LOL

BS COIN AS USUAL

Well there is a huge market for something like this whether its this coin or another. Branded and marketed correct it will work. You obviously are narrow minded to think something cannot work. Anything is possible especially in today's world (dogecoin). And this is a cool coin regardless. Oh and a lot of people like it.... so sit back and be negative we don't mind.

cheers mate.
I think that there are a couple of dozen coins with hopeless names if they really want to be used as an actual medium of exchange.  You know who they are.  But Spartancoin does not sound bad to me.  It does not have a "money" sound like Gold or Silver or Pound but I am willing to invest a bit in this one.  A lot of this is personal taste -- sure.  I get that.  But it does not turn me off.  In fact, I kinda like it.

Re: [ANN] ANT • Antimatter • POOL WORKING : NODES ADDED : ANT ALIVE
by

on 05/03/2014, 03:54:39 UTC
I have the updated wallet, up to date nodes, and 12 active connections, and yet the wallet is stuck at 2 days behind.
What is going on?

Solution:

1. Back up your wallet.dat and the antimatter.conf
2. Delete folder "Antimatter" in AppData/Roaming/ and shutdown the client
3. Create a new folder "Antimatter" in AppData/Roaming
4. Place .conf file and the wallet.dat that you backed up in new folder and start up client again.

My wallet was working fine -- but it is stuck now.  It acts as if it is on a bad fork.
I tried the above solution -- twice.  Did not work.
It did start over, but just got up to the same stuck place.
Anyone else having this problem?  I seem to be only getting 1 or 2 nodes, so some more nodes might help,
if anyone knows of any.
Thanks in advance.

To do POS is it necessary to have the wallet online at all times?

Suppose you have 500000 mintcoin in your wallet, does the POS just happen automatically, or is there some setting necessary on the wallet?

Can the wallet be ecrypted?

I am really confused about the whole thing!

The longer the wallet is online, acting as a node, the more it'll mint. It can be encrypted, but unlocked. No other settings need changing.

Great.  Thanks Stinky_Pete!
I will see if I can figure out how to unlock it.  Is POS working even now, or does that start only when the mining stops?

Path for Wallet
by
Jimfoxy
on 25/02/2014, 23:11:23 UTC
Hi,
I can't get my wallet to find any nodes.  I think the problem is that I downloaded the wallet to my laptop which is running Vista.

I think the wallet wants the config file to be in C: Users > Username >AppData > Roaming > xxxxcoin.

But Vista is not set up that way.  At least  I can't find AppData.

Can I change the path the wallet is using to look for the config file?

I tried putting the config file in the same folder as the executable, but that does not seem to do any good.

Thanks for any help you can give!!

There are a lot of coins out there.  More coming every day, it seems.  It is hard to separate the wheat from the chaff.  Penguincoin looks like a keeper.  Enthusiasm seems to be building and there is talk that it will make a run.  I think I will buy in because it is probably as cheap as it ever will be.

The long-term future looks good.  I think it will be around when a lot of the one-month wonders have been forgotten.

It is hard to pick winners early, but Penguincoin looks like it has potential.  For those that do script mining the payout looks really good.  It has a charitable side, and seems to have a low amount of pre-mining.  When possible, I plan to sock away a good amount of these coins and hold for a good price increase.

My name is Jim Fox and am from New Mexico.
Heard about BItcoin about a year ago.  Never could figure out the basis of its value, so did nothing about it.
About a month ago it came to my attention that it jumped in value -- at that time to near $1000.

I thought that maybe I should investigate crypto currencies a bit more and am still investigating.

I might decide to invest seriously.  But right now I am just playing around with a couple of bitcoins.

If I can be included in NEM, I would be happy to participate to the best of my ability.

Jim

This is a new coin.  I think I will add some to my holding.  It would be nice if someone would add a PENG/BTC option.

When I launch my MINT wallet the first two nodes that is finds are
144.76.64.123
81.95.191.233

then is connects to these ones
211.28.143.54
89.71.42.172

so you many just want to put these in your config file.

addnode=144.76.64.123
addnode=81.95.191.233
addnode=211.28.143.54
addnode=89.71.42.172

When the wallet opens it will try to connect to each node and it will output the results in the
'C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Mintcoin\debug.log' file.

You will see it trying to connect to the peers.

Code:

I don't know what to do with the wallet.  I added all the nodes as the instructions say, and I am still not getting any active connections, and never have raised even one.  The wallet has been on for two days now.

I wonder if the settings have anything to do with it.

under Options -> Network, I changed it from "Map port using UPnP" to "Connect through SOCKS proxy."
The default options I left alone: 127.0.0.1 / Port 9050 / SOCKS version 5

Do these settings look right?  Should I change it back to "Map port using UPnP"?

I have never had this much trouble setting up a wallet before.

Thanks for any help that anyone can give.  I know that many of you have set up this wallet, but I have failed miserably.
