My S9's are located inside of my garage. They are from the March batch. The garage is a single car, open attic. The temperature outside was around 20 degrees fahrenheit when I first turned them on. All I did was place a space heater in the garage for about 4 hours (I was inside of the garage) and let it warm up. I highly doubt my air temp was above 45 degrees, and my machines fired right up. They started to hash right away.

There's your problem...EACH miner needs a dedicated line. 4'' is way too small also.

You need to focus on getting the hot air out. Not necessarily cooling the room. Exactly how large was your exhaust in the ceiling? How large were the holes in your door? How thick were the filters? How big are your shrouds and ductwork? I can almost guarantee your ductwork is smaller than necessary by what you're saying. Each S9 produces around 200cfm. You say you have 7 S9's that's 1400cfm. I would recommend using 6'' hvac flex duct PER MINER and nothing less. If you don't want to print a adapter for the circular shape, the 6'' duct just so happens to fit perfectly over the fan. Keep in mind.. adding any ducting is always going to increase your temperature for the fact that you're restricting air flow. Either that, or get rid of all the piping and invest into a new more powerful exhaust fan. You could always keep the ac if you prefer. Electronics always prefer cooler air. I would be weary of condensation but that's just me.

Correct me if I am wrong, But I do believe you are incorrect. Condensation only forms when the object is colder than the environment surrounding it. By definition condensation is "water that collects as droplets on a cold surface when humid air is in contact with it." For example, a glass of ice water. You always see this because the water inside of the glass is colder than the surrounding ambient air temperature. In this circumstance the S9 will be much hotter than any air being drawn in. Even if the miner goes down it is located inside so the temperatures should never be colder than the air being drawn in. Summer ac could potentially be an issue however.

I forgot to mention I’m using a APW3++ what about future intentional shutdowns? For example in a month or two I’m moving. Once shut down just simply rinse and repeat what you said?

So the paper that bitmain sent with the S9 says to power the 3 hash boards first and then plug in the controller or whatever it’s called. All videos I’ve watched everybody always plugs in all 10 right away. What’s going on? Which do I do? Also future power ups and downs what do I do? Any advice would be helpful. I apologize for my newness. Thank you .

That’s the plan. I have a concern though. Original plan was to use my propane heater. Usually more effective than electric space heaters for example. I don’t see why but would the propane fumes cause harm to the machine? My other option is the space heaters. I HIGHLY doubt they will even put a dent in the temperature though. Keep in mind the heater is only for INITIAL startup. A heater will NOT be on upon machine boot.

So do you think I’ll be fine then? As long as the unit is warm prior to booting? Also I might add I was planning on pre heating the garage before initial start up.

So I’ve hired an electrician to come wire a 220 to my garage tomorrow but I’m having second thoughts. Could running a S9 in below freezing temperates for extended use cause harm? Let me elaborate. I was debating on to put mine in the garage, considering it’s winter. Everybody always runs AC to them but never this cold. I live in MO so it rarely if ever goes subzero. Im thinking that it would only increasing cooling because the machine produces such a tremendous amount of heat as it is. Eventually the room would reach a maximum temperate but I’m unsure of what it would be. Also might I add this is only a one car ranch garage. I’m unsure of the square footage, I’d say maybe 15x15x30 with open attic access. I live in Missouri as stated so the weather it’s very unpredictable. The main thing I’m worried about is humidity. Not really rain. Think as how long and how much it takes for a cold glass of water to have water drops outside the glass. That is condensation of said humidity. This is what worries me. The head from the S9 and the cold from the garage. This small of a garage has me thinking it will warm to a somewhat decent level but I do not know. My weather app has local weather for this week as follows:
