<- snip ->

You did ask Does anybody else now have a problem of incompatibility?

Try deleting everything from Bitcoin and armory except wallets. Fully sync Bitcoin before starting armory.

Actually Bitcoind shouldn't be running afaik, armory starts qt not d I think, I run it manually though

You might have an old version running somehow or another program running it for you

Thanks for your help. You are right - I did ask that, although it was more of a rhetorical question - I was already assuming that the new version was working ok for a lot of people, otherwise I guess it wouldn't have been released yet!

Anyway, I've got Armory up and running now - I just have to run Bitcoin core/q/d on it's own.

Mine's perfect, delete all the data and start fresh

'Mine's perfect' - that comment doesn't really help me - my wife's is also now running, but we didn't learn much from that either.

I'm running bitcoind independantly - and seem to be getting on better - currently scanning transaction history whereas before Armory 'locked up' almost as soon as bitcoind failed.

Re: [ANN] Armory 0.93 Official Release - 'bitcoind.exe has stopped working'
by

Updated Armory yesterday, and bitcoind to 0.10 last week. Does anybody else now have a problem of incompatibility? When I start up the latest Armory, after a few seconds my Win7 64bit machine pops up a dialog titled 'bitcoind.exe' and the message 'bitcoind.exe has stopped working'? Bitcoind 0.10 seems to have no problem running on its own.

I hadn't run Armory for a couple of months before I ran it yesterday (don't think that's relevant). I've rebooted my machine, but still no luck. My wife also updated both on her Win 7 64bit machine yesterday and also had a similar problem - although this seems to have been fixed by a reboot.

I'll admit to being a bit more paranoid about what I usually let run on my PC, so is it possible there should be a background service running or something?

WTS 1 Million MINT for 100 Bitcoins

That's even cheaper than maxcoin. Get in now!

Price seems fair ...

<- snip! - again! - I'm trying to go to bed! ->

This is a HUGE issue with the default settings for the newest version of MPOS (the pool software everyone uses).  We've been battling it ourselves at HashStrike with our pools.  We eventually decided to disable the email confirmations for everything for the time being because of how touchy and non-intuitive it is.  So I know exactly what they're going through right now.

Yes - it is a bit non-intuitive - so I'm happy that someone is looking at it   Cheesy

If I don't bitch and moan at least a little, then I fear that everyone will just think that poor UI/UX is acceptable. We are allowed to ask for better software, or at least encourage it's creation. I might get round to looking at the MPOS software myself sometime - I've already made some (very) minor code commits to the sgminer software.

Oooor just everyone is intelligent enough to have auto-payout?
I have gotten payments from coins4everyone since 20.58.
I received my mail instantly (I was intelligent enough to look in the junkfolder)

Of course - I realise that - and I've now got auto-payouts set up as well (like I do with all the other pools I use). I normally use Thunderbird email client, but my email provider had filtered out the email before it even got to my client, so I had to then log into the web mail to check the spam there. I also know that's not the end of the world either.

But, I don't think what I was doing was unreasonable. The whole process that I had to go through was pretty absurd and a little bit redundant. With some more thought into the design and usability, it doesn't have to be such a pain in my British arse ...

Hah! - I think this indicates what a pain email confirmations are:

4.5 hours after launch, on one of the major pools (coins4everyone), I was manual payout #1! Perhaps this is why:

To get my manual payment after setting up my account a few hours ago:

I had to log in, enter my pin to get confirmation email, check my email client - no email, log into my online email service, search through the spam folder, mark the email as not spam, copy the confirmation address, paste that address into my browser, enter my wallet address, enter the pin again to update, enter the pin again to activate manual payout, download the email, copy the address, paste the address into my browser, enter the pin again to finally get my payout!

To me, that is complete overkill.

Anyway, I think I'm done ranting for the night. Time for bed.

There was a rouge pool no so long ago got all the info of users and swiped all the coins of users using the same passwords on all sites . email confirms are good for safety. IMO

How shall this work? Every Pool I go I set a different login and password and I set the auto payout and every day I check that I got the coins. There isn't much too lose.

I much more worry that the email address I set would be missused.
So if there is really no other way I would anyway create an instead email somewhere and use that.

Fine im not arguing with you, you have an answer for everything.. just do what you want .. Smiley

Smiley sorry didn't want to be a pain in the a... just honestly wondered why pools want an email confirmation.
I use email confirmations for exchanges and cloud mining and such where I really have larger deposits ..there it all makes sense to me. Just the mining pools are somehwhat a different story to me since I only use them to forward me the coins and not as deposit.
But yes maybe for some this increases the securty. I can accept that. Smiley

I think you have not lost any coins yet or nothing has been stolen from you. I wuold infact want all pools to get email confirmation when changing PIN/Password/payment address. some pools are thief and steal login information. If payment information needs to be confirmed via email they cant do anything even with your login id and password. and yeah dont blah blah about use different password a person who is mining at 10 different pools at the same time and new pools everyday its almost impossible to keep track of different passwords

I think you are making assumptions about how people use passwords. Those of us who take security seriously use a password manager. We don't need to remember all those individual passwords. It's treating everyone on the internet like they're stupid, whereas it would be better to give them an option to manage their own security. Without email confirmations.

I want to go to bed now, but can't because I'm waiting for my email confirmation. I've been waiting for 5 minutes now from dogemoon. By the time it comes through, will it have expired?

And, why do I need to do a bloody email confirmation just to make my account anonymous? That's just stupid. I wish developers would put more though into their software before making blanket decisions like that. And, for information, I've been a software developer for over 20 years. I know it's not rocket science!

Again ... sigh!   Cry

Coinmarket seems to having been having issues for at least 0.5 hour. Perhaps they're updating the software so that we can sell our Reddcoins for less than 1 satoshi?

I don't get why pools wants emails confirmation. I avoid such pools.

Had sort of a bad start with this coin. First pool was dead for a long time after the start. With solo mining I found nothing and 2 other pools wanted emails confirmation and or had very height fees.

But oh well found one "normal" working pool at the end.

+1

I don't like the email confirmation pools. I'm using a strong password on my pools, so the email confirmations are just a real pain. It would be good to be able to choose between using a strong password or having email confirmations. Emails aren't mega-secure themselves anyway.

People who don't protect themselves, lol.

There was a rouge pool no so long ago got all the info of users and swiped all the coins of users using the same passwords on all sites . email confirms are good for safety. IMO

Yeah - I was mining on those pools that were being hacked, etc. But they didn't get any of my coins because I was using a strong password. Email confirms may be suitable for some people who use exactly the same password on all their pools, but I use unique passwords for each pool and they're all at least 16 random characters.

If you're going to insist on email confirms, then at least send them in HTML so that I can just click on the link, without having to copy and paste! I thought computers were supposed to make my life easier?  Sigh ...  Cry

cgminer does work well for a lot of people, but if you're mining scrypt coins on your GPU then you're stuck with the 3.7.2 version (or earlier).

For me, I've had some issues with running both my R9 290's effectively under linux. So I'm hoping that sgminer may prove to be the way foward.

Since I originally started this topic thread, I've been looking at the source code in order to try and help resolve my problems. I currently believe that it's down to an AMD driver issue - but we'll have to see. Anyway, this has given me the opportunity to make my very own contributions to the project - so I'm hoping that they see the light of day in the near future!

This worked well for me.  It's a re-compiled version of 3.7.0 with a patch for the r9 290 series cards.

http://www.ohmpie.com/mining-on-an-r9-290-in-linux/

You might be able to review the changes the submitter made, then incorporate them into sgminer.

Before sgminer, I tried those ohmpie fixes on cgminer, and they did help.

But those changes are already incorporated into sgminer. There are other issues with the R9 290 cards, and I believe them to be driver related (and not fixed by any mining software that I know of). I think there's been a bit of a re-factoring of the code base for sgminer, which should help in the future.

It seems like I cannot sign up for the IPCO, as the email address field doesn't let me use a '+' character in the local part of my email address - which I need to do to help with spam filtering.
