Re: Block size limit problem
by
JohanS
on 10/04/2014, 10:50:46 UTC
Wouldn´t it be possible to update the size of blocks to enable more transactions when this become a limiting factor for transactions? I.e when the average number of transactions is 7 per second, the size increase to 1,5 MB. When the number reaces 10, increase to 2mb end so on and so forth... Or is changing the blocksize a difficult technical issue?

Other poker pros i talk to range ROI from 3% to 15%. I Think most pros at my level averange 10-15%. ROI of cause go down for the ones playing on higher level.

I dont compare the earnings from poker to earnings from investing i BTC - i just sell a service.

Poker coaching - get the edge!
by
JohanS
on 27/12/2013, 11:54:21 UTC
I am a professional pokerplayer, playing mainly SnG 1 table $30-$60 on Pokerstars. My ROI during 2013 has been 12%, so my strategies are solid.

I offer coaching for BTC 0.05/hour (or equivalent in $) on levels up to $30.
You play on 2 tables and i will coach and give advice on skype or MSN.

You will get the extra edge you have been looking for.

PM me if you are interested to get all details.

Great work on this mining USB!

Sorry about the noob question, but is it possible to install flash or other software in case i would let my miner rest for a few hours and use the gear as mediaplayer?

Trade through an alt coin

It would yet be very easy to trace. If you just want to hide the transaction from your partner (1), it might be ok, but if you are looking at ways to "fool" authorities i would say it is not safe enough.

(1) on the other hand, what are the chanses in the first place that your partner are checking the blockchain for transactions  Roll Eyes

It looks like KnC is planning on a smaller unit, called Mercury (typo'd on the page). Cost $1,9995  - specs appear to be mis-copied from Jupiter. Check it out.

yep you're right, mis-copied is the right word: "Shipment begins in September"...

they really do listen they have already changed the original shipping date from September to October  Tongue

Shipping "next week" would also do!  Grin

I dont think so, theyre going to be huge like a toast. BFL does 2 ghs in half cpu size. theres no way knc can squeeze 100x that in 2x the space. Even if the nm is 2x smaller.
I'm not complaining, I want a giant chip

Re: Where does the value of Bitcoin come from?
by
JohanS
on 02/07/2013, 11:07:43 UTC
I believe that you are right.

Bitcoin has to be more widely accepted in order to succeed.

The value right now is only that it can be used in suspicious deals where i don´t wish to tell the banks (and by that the authorities) what i should use the money for, and who i give the money to. And of cause there is a speculative value in BTC.

As BTC cannot be created in the same way as fx USD, which is created every time a bank grant a loan, an increased number of transactions will increase the value of BTC.

There have be alot of extra transactions to make up for the sick difficulty after asics came. People are getting 80gh 500gh units every day :S

Yeah, you are right, and of cause poker itself can not be the main source for transactions, but it would be a nice addition.

Anyway, beeing able to play poker with BTC would be great and would also increase the interest for BTC among the public.

Nice. hope that players flock around the tables playing with BTC  Grin

I healthy poker society should give a nice upswing in number of transactions, don´t you think?

Increased number of transactions may in the long run compensate somewhat for the rise in difficulty.

Ok, of cause.

... and all transactions will still be tracable as the "old" parts will be available, even if they no longer are a part of the live chain.

Anyone have a guestimate on at what size this can happen?

50 GB

100 GB

1 TB?

If bitcoin become more widely used and the numbers of transactions increase, the size of blockchain will increase, right?

At what point will the size of blockchain become an issue/problem?

Re: Anyone still GPU mining?
by
JohanS
on 06/06/2013, 15:01:46 UTC
GPU mining for fun and experience while waiting on ASIC to be shipped.

Even tried to mine on my laptop - i would not recommend it! DAMN it got hot Sad

GPU will probably move to LTC and other currencies and the diff for BTC will skyrocket during the next months.

It is still too low as blocks are mined every 8 minutes.
