Re: Antminer S9 March 4th, 2019 firmware experience?

It doesn't "boot" from the sdhc, it resets itself.  After a minute or so, both the red and green like should be blinking together.  Once that happens, power down, put the jumper back, reassemble, and it should boot back to the original factory firmware.

I got it. Although the instructions weren't thoroughly clear on the bitmain page where to switch the jumer. It took alittle working on it but I finally did it. Thank you!

Which is not true.  You can downgrade via the sdhc card as outlined at the Bitmain site.  We have down well over 20 downgrades without a hitch, more almost every day.

Hey ccgllc, I just mistakenly installed the new 2019 firmware on my antminer S9. I am also pretty sure I blew out a hash board in doing so as well. I installed the T9+ toolkit and moved the 4 jumper to the right position. Miner still isn't booting off the SD card. I am only running 2 hashboards at enhanced lower power now. I am running 110V power from the wall on a 1850W PSU. How can I troubleshoot the hashboard and how did you boot the S9 miner from the SD card?

I have tried to flash the firmware with the MicroSD in the antminer. It is still running off the March 2019 firmware. I also moved the jpr 4 to the right position so Idk what else to try. There is also no SD kit compatible with the S9 so I tried the Z9+ toolkit.

The problem is I have the new fimware and cannot upgrade. Therefore, i tried to ssh. That wouldn’t happen. Server denied. Then i tried to get into the configure file where they had everything commented. I attempted to edit it but still to no avail. Looks like i still have a lot to learn in linux. Btw, i will need another hashboard. I burn through these things like hot cakes. I had PSU 1 running Hashboard 1 and Control Board and PSU 2 running Hashboard 2 and 3.

I figured it out, still not enough power running the hub.

OK cool, its one of those things some people don't think about.

Can you tell us what ports your running the newpacs in, honestly, a picture of your setup would be good too.

Hey JohnDon87, at 175 the NewPacs should not have issues running on the GekkoScience USB hub. Question though because I didn't see this asked anywhere, do you have some kind of active cooling? if the units heat sinks are too hot to hold onto, they are too hot period.

hey, yeah, they are running perfectly at 175 my apologies. I should have said that. If I go over then that is when I run into problems. I was wondering if I could clock higher but I guess not. I am using one of  these with them https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003XN24GY/

They are all 4.11.1 i think. Its the number at the end of the file name we are after. The command IF you ate using the autotune is “—gekko-noboost”.

yeah, so cgminer starts to open and then closes me right back out.

What build cgminer are you running? If its the auto tune one. Try turning auto tune off.

The build is the 4.11.1 version. I am not sure how to turn off auto tune, what the command is.

I imagine your issue is 1.5A hub and not the gekko science one?

Edit: 1.5A/USB port.

Nope, i have the new one now and the miners are dropping to about 5 Ghz frequency on GSH 2 and GSH 4

So question now, I have the miner set at 175 Ghz per each stick but an extra power supply set up that I was using for my antminer s7 on the 419 usb hub. Is there any way to clock these higher to get more efficiency? If I add any thing higher than "--gekko-newpac-freq 175" than it becomes very unstable. Is there any instructions I can put in my .bat file that would not make all of them clock so high and drop but get more efficiency or is this as stable as it gets? I have 6 newpacs and active cooling + 180-240V power supply attached.

Yes, this definitely seems to be the sweet spot for them. No nonces and none dropping down low and having to reset.

hey,

So I finally am up and running. How should I try to clock these? I have six sticks and each set to 200 Mhz with a throughput of only 201.9 Gh/z?

Do you think i can still use a few less sticks for now until it comes in? I also have an amazon basics hub but it is REALLY simple.

Hey guys,

I am having some difficulty with the newpacs and hope someone can shed some light. Currently, I am running 6 newpacs off of a BrovSS USB hub with active cooling. All of the sticks are connected to this hub. The frequency they are running off of is 100 Mhz each. The version of cgminer is the gekkoscience cgminer 4.1 and using on Windows 10. I have been able to mine a couple blocks but eventually cgminer displays a “GSH 3 missing nonces” and “GSH 4 missing nonces” and then displays “Toggling reset on GSH 3” amd “Toggling reset on GSH” and my worker goes offline and have to reboot everything each time. Again, I appreciate any help someone can offer.
