Re: Mining Digitalcoin and Worldcoin is less profitable than it seems
by
JohnSy
on 16/06/2013, 02:05:19 UTC
I was mining Digitalcoin and Worldcoin for a while and was always wondering why I didn't get the payout I calculated. I always got (considerably) less.

Thanks to coinchoose.com now I know why. It's because of the high stale rate of these coins.

For example Worldcoin has "% Profitability of BTC" : 109.92%
But "Profitability % Adj for Stales" is only 73.90%

Same for Digitalcoin: "% Profitability of BTC" : 107.52%
But "Profitability % Adj for Stales" is only 81.04%

All those fast coins have this high stale problem (e.g. Fastcoin has profitability 97.21%, but adjusted for stales it's only 57.18% !).

So it's actually much more profitable to mine other coins.
i don't really trust coinchoose

Re: [FTC] Free FeatherCoin Giveaway for Everyone! While supplies last.
by
JohnSy
on 16/06/2013, 01:59:48 UTC
Another FeatherCoin giveaway is here!
Wat we need to get this
Thanks to donations from some of our awesome community from the FeatherCoin Forums, I have 1750 FTC up for grabs for simply posting your FeatherCoin wallet address in this thread!

Unlike some of the recent alt coin releases, FeatherCoins have real value! They can be converted on a lot of popular exchanges or even used to buy things from a growing list of online retailers. If that's not enough, check out our FeatherCoin Market where you can bid on / buy items with... FeatherCoins!

Sounds awesome! How do I get my free FeatherCoins?! Easy! Simply download the appropriate client from http://feathercoin.com/ Most users will choose the Windows client, Extract the archive, and open feathercoin-qt. As soon as the client is open, it will have generated an address for you to receive your free coins. Click on the "Receive coins" tab and there it is! Right click on the address and hit "Copy Address" and then paste it into a reply here.

This is a rather large release, so it will take me some time to get through all the responses. While you are waiting, why not check out our starter kit tutorials on how to start mining even more Feathercoins?

Would you like to contribute your skills to this amazing project? We would love to have you! Let us know what skills you would like to volunteer in your self-introduction post here: http://forum.feathercoin.com/index.php?board=7.0

The good stuff:
  • This giveaway is for 1 Feathercoin to your payment address.
  • All you have to do is post your Feathercoin wallet address and what you think about this amazing coin.
  • Only valid for accounts registered prior to this posting.
  • Only 1 post per forum account will be credited.
  • Transactions will be sent in groups of whatever interval I happen to do them as I like to pretend I have a life.

In the event you were unaware, Feathercoin is actually the best bet for profitability right now according to coin choosing bots! Why not mine some yourself?

If you want to give back to new users, donations to be used to extend this giveaway can be sent to: 6kc1Py7M5afufrzKRv1Du3gQ6gobJh1ru1

Another 100 FTC was received for the giveaway which brings the total to 1850 to be given out!

Re: Journey from .15 btc to a motorcycle (32 btc) via sports betting OVER 1 BTC NOW!
by
JohnSy
on 16/06/2013, 01:56:02 UTC
Starting today, I am attempting to go from .15 btc to 30 btc to buy a bike listed on bitmit. It will probably not be listed if I get to my goal, but its worth a shot.

THESE PEOPLE HAVE SENT ME BTC TO JOIN ME IN THIS JOURNEY.  I AM PLACING THE SAME BETS FOR THEM AS I AM MYSELF, SO THEY CAN MAKE SOME MONEY ALONG WITH ME:

SuperBit has sent .8308 btc, and I will place the same bets and bet amounts as what I place for myself in this thread
DebitMe has .8308 btc, and I will place the same bets and bet amounts as what I place for myself in this thread
Optimator has sent me 5BTC to use to place the same bets, but I will be betting more on each bet for him.  Same games though.
ShooToo has sent me 1BTC to use to place the same bets, but I will be betting more on each bet for him.  Same games though.
WillThePill has sent me 1BTC to use to place the same bets, but I will be betting more on each bet for him.  Same games though.
TheTortoise has sent me .274 to use to place the same bets, I will be betting less than my bets for him.  Same games though.

Current Bankroll:  1.145 btc

I will post stats and my picks each day here.

Each betting unit will be .01 btc. Feel free to follow this thread, and if you would like to join bitbook.biz please pm me and use me as a referral, and if I make my goal and you place bets with me as your referral, ill transfer you a part of what I make from referrals.

I will be using three different sports books as of now.  They are:

https://casinobitco.in
https://bitbook.biz/?referer=xboxgames
http://bitcoinsports.eu/wat kinda bike

Casinobitco.in has graciously credited my account with .1 btc worth of credits on their site to help towards this challenge.  I will be reporting back in this thread during the progress of it as to how fast their payouts are, customer service, etc., good or bad.  I appreciate their rep reaching out to me.

http://bit777.com contacted me and provided me a .10 freeroll, with the stipulation of I got to play three games on their site, if I lost, they would refund me.  If I won, I could cash out and apply wiinings to this challenge.  I ended up winning .12, and they sent me an additional .1, so they contributed .22 to this goal.  Thanks, bit777!

Wins: 32

Losses: 24

Re: [PicoStocks] 100TH/s bitcoin mine [100th]
by
JohnSy
on 16/06/2013, 01:55:12 UTC
After failed IPO* of the 72TH-mine (due to default of the manufacturer) and first delivery of ASIC products by Avalon we decided to float an asset based on alternative ASIC development project conducted in close collaboration with BitFury.org. The new mine (100TH-mine) will have much better profitability than the previous project.

Summary:when will it ship

Strong aspects:
-   low investment costs: only $5 / 1GH/s (4 times cheaper than competing products)
-   low maintenance costs due to low power dissipation of the chip: approximately 0.2-0.3 Watt / 1GH/s (4-20 time better than competition)
-   4 year manufacturer warranty
Weak aspects:
-   chip not tested yet, tape out in 1 month (full mask, engineering run), final simulation results will be posted in 2 weeks
-   deployment of 100TH-mine in July 2013

Details:

The proposed project is a 100 terahash/s Bitcoin mine. The hashing hardware will consist of mining boards developed in collaboration with BitFury. Today’s network hashing power is 4 times lower than 100TH/s but this situation will change dramatically in the next 4 months before the deployment of the hardware. The hardware will be located in the datacenter operated by MegaBigPower.com. The monthly maintenance and management costs will be kept at the 5k USD level. Hardware will be produced and assembled in June 2013. Mining will start at the data center on 2012-07-01. Estimations based on a predicted realistic continuous monthly network hashrate increase of 100TH/s (starting from 0TH/s on 2013-01-01) and BTC exchange rate of 17 USD point to a return of investment of 500k USD in 3 months after mining starts, i.e. in September 2013. Total income over the next 4 years after subtraction of the initial investment costs of 500k USD amounts to 2.7M USD. The suggested valuation of the venture is 500k USD (5 USD per 1GH/s, 1 USD per share), which is currently much below the retail purchase price of the hardware from competing suppliers. The venture will be legally operated as a PicoStocks project. No separate legal entity will be created.

The main risk of the project is the delay of the installation of the mining equipment. PicoStocks, legally responsible for the project, will reimburse investors if an income of 1M USD (10 USD per 1GH/s, 2 USD per share) will not be achieved by the mine until end of 2016 due to delayed installation.

The venture has 750 000 shares. If more than 500 000 shares will be ordered the hashing power will be increased proportionally above the expected 100TH/s to 150TH/s if all shares are sold. Each share is valued at 1 USD (recommended price) and corresponds to 0.2 GH/s. Shares that will not be ordered will be erased and a smaller mine will be deployed. The management costs will be decreased proportionally. The minimum price is 0.04 BTC which is below the expected price of 1 USD per share so the minimum valuation of the project is 400k USD for 100TH/s at an USD/BTC exchange rate of ca. 20 (today). The suggested price per share is 0.05 BTC, which corresponds to 1 USD per share and a valuation of the asset at 500k USD for 100TH/s. We offer a minimum price of 0.04BTC only because we worry that the exchange rate can rise in the coming 2 weeks before the IPO will be closed (in 2 weeks from now).

Re: Thinking about selling [BFL ASIC] [60 GH/s] order for low price with escrow
by
JohnSy
on 16/06/2013, 01:51:13 UTC
I am thinking about selling my BFL ASIC 60 GH/s Bitcoin miner order. For low price and with escrow.
Code:
39161
#100019697
60 GH/s Bitcoin Miner
Re
It's not an early order, but after prices on ASICMiner blades
   (~55 - 75 BTC for 10 GH/s => ~12 BTC income with ~5-7 mounths return).
or ASICMiner usb miner
   (~2 BTC for 0.3 GH/s => ~0.38 BTC income with ~6 mounths return).

I think BFL ASIC 60 GH/s miner is still interesting offer with x6 hashing power  Wink
   (~25-35 BTC for 60 GH/s => ~77-60 (with 6 mounths delay) BTC income with ~0.5 mounths return).

The only risk - if BFL will never ship their orders, but I think they will, because there are a lot of PayPal orders. So this will be a huge financial loss, closed PayPal seller account and possibly "closed doors" in bitcoin community. Not an option for BFL, I believe.  Smiley

Offer your price and conditions. At this moment I am thinking about 45 BTC with 40% escrow and returning by 15% per mounth to buyer in 3 mounths if there will be delay. (My estimation of BFL delay ~3 months).

There will be no proofs here - people become really nervous after posting invoices. I'll show account login process to the buyer. Or I may send image / paper invoice.

Payment:  Escrow preferred. Buyer pays fee.  I would like to use JohnK and I will be filming the packing and shipping of this, including serial #, to avoid scammers/disputes.
wait, you want escrow, yet you want buyers to pay the fee?

I sell on ebay and amazon with 99.9%+ positive feedback and am happy to provide a link to my other auctions to bidders via PM.  I am migrating my business to bitmit but also trying here.
no wonder your entire post is made with 160% font size.

"preferred" was a poor choice of words, as I don't require it but it is in all parties' best interests.  Escrow is for the buyer's benefit.  I don't require it.  And yes, they must pay the fee if they wish to use it in my sale.

Not quite sure how to respond to the second statement.  Thank you for looking.

Re: Proof that 2000 BTC (not 1000 BTC) is owed by Josh AND BFL.
by
JohnSy
on 16/06/2013, 01:25:28 UTC
EDIT: I mistakenly thought that both these bets(?) were of the same nature, which is not the case.

EDIT AGAIN: This is the post I meant to include and not the bet with runeks.

Since Tom is refusing to actually make the bet he himself proposed between us, I am offering up a guarantee of 1000 BTC to charity (I will take suggestions on which charity to donate this to) if BFL does not meet it's power claims within 10% - meaning if BFL's power consumption is more than 66w for a Single SC, we lose the "bet."

Now, I ask if Tom is willing to step up and back the winning side.  He is 100% confident that we will not meet our power claims (which is the genesis of the failed bet), and as such I ask that he pony up 1000 BTC to the same charity if we do make our power claims.

So there it is:  Tom is confident that we won't make our power claims, I am confident that we will.  I am willing to put up 1000 BTC to show my confidence in BFL products.  Is Tom confident enough to do the same or is he just blowing hot air?

Who's doing the lawsuit
Here is the proof that Josh owes 1000 BTC:

At 500:1 odds I, runeks, bet 2 BTC that the first line of ASIC-chips shipped by Butterfly Labs (ie. not any later series/revision) in their 'SC' line of products will have an efficiency of less than 350 Mhash/Joule. This figure pertains only to the chip itself, so any inefficiency in the power supply will allow for a higher power usage of the device in which the chip resides. So, power supply inefficiencies are excluded, but other components on the board that are required for the device to work will be included in the power efficiency measurement, as the power efficiency figure is irrelevant if the device - under ideal conditions - can't operate at that efficiency anyway.

At the odds of 500:1 that are in effect for this bet I will win 1000 BTC if I am correct (power efficiency is less 350 Mhash/Joule), and lose 2 BTC if I am incorrect (power efficiency is greater than or equal to 350 Mhash/Joule).

Power efficiency shall be measured over a 24 hour period.

Inaba, if you agree then quote this post and say you agree, or suggest a revision of the terms if you think I'm missing something or being unfair.

I agree with this bet.

I'm writing here to publicly restate my commitment to this bet. Since it's been a while, I think it seems like a good idea for both parties to restate their commitment to the wager publicly. I have invited Inaba to do the same via PM.

Sure, I re-affirm it.  Our devices would literally melt if they came in at 114w or more.

Thanks for reminding me... I think I have another bet for a more substantial amount with someone but bugger all if I remember who.  I guess I will have to dig back in my posts.

BFL offers 1000 BTC to charity if we miss our power targets!

Published on 10-19-2012 06:33 PM                                  66 Comments

We are so confident in our power consumption that we are offering up 1000 BTC to charity if we miss our power consumption targets by more than 10%. We are offering our devices at 1 watt consumed per gigahash. If our power targets end up consuming more than 1.1w of power per gigahash, we will donate 1000 BTC to charity! How is that for confidence in our power usage?

With the recent focus on power consumption, we want to reiterate that we stand behind our customers and our products. We have designed our mining equipment to be the smallest, fastest, most aesthetically pleasing and most power efficient mining device available on the planet. We guarantee that in the form of 1000 BTC! When you buy a BFL product, you know you're getting the absolute best mining device available, period.

Unless you are an idiot, the above clearly shows that the first case is a bet between runeks and Josh, whereas the later case is somebody speaking in the capacity of BFL assuring their customer base--current and future--that they'll produce products within a certain tolerance, offering up a 1000 BTC donation to some charity as a guarantee.

Josh reaffirms his bet, whereas BFL didn't have to, for they're on record on their official website that a 1000 BTC guarantee is place.

It's safe to assume that at least one person ordered a BFL product based off this official statement on BFL's website. It's also safe to assume that at least two people purchased BFL products due to Josh's bet because of the trust factor alone.

I'm on record in stating that I will donate $200 USD (doesn't matter if in $ or BTC) to a charity of Josh's or BFL's choice (doesn't matter which or to whom) once they show proof of delivery.

Instead of trying to dispute that such deliveries have yet to take place, I will simply concede that they have shipped. Ergo, I OWE $200 to some yet unnamed charity of which I will honor...

...As soon as both their 1000 BTC donations are satisfied.

So I know my own opinion as to the "most promising" alt coin other than Bitcoin, but I'm curious what the popular opinion is for this topic.

I will wait until 50 or so votes before saying which one I believe is the "most promising" and why, so that I can at least see what the unbiased vote result is.  I will also announce the "in progress" vote count as I write my viewpoint.

Of course, anybody may post in this thread at any time to try and influence the vote count!

Wow that's great
LTC , as well as PhenixCoin, which is not listed there, PXC has the best most active developers behind their coin right now. Their website, Phenixst.com (free escrow site) Casino, their own exchange coming out soon, PXC was the only coin that successfully got held back off cryptsy to give it more time to grow.
Some people will bash PXC, they just havent studied enough to find whats really important behind a new coin.
