Hi everyone, Has anyone had the same problem with the new upgrade to 2.4 The upgrade has not gone well for me so heres the problem. Followed the instructions on the blog exactly. Completed the transition and entered new seed but when i login to iota version 2.4 with new seed, it shows no balance even after generating over 250 addresses.
You didn't follow the instruction well. You don't need to manually generate any addresses for this upgrade. If you have complete the transition to your new seed, you should see a transaction in the History section of your wallet when logging in with your new seed. It may be confirmed or it may be still pending. If it is till pending, you need to click show bundle and click reattach. Your transaction will get confirmed eventually after you do the reattach. Do the reattach every 30 minutes till it gets confirmed.
Anyone knows why after the upgrade to the new wallet .. the IOTA's remain in Pending? Shouldn't this be very fast? I've tried to rebroadcast but it's still not in my balance. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Try reattach instead of rebroadcast. Rebroadcast does not work for your case. Try reattach every 30 minutes. You will be fine.
My transition transaction has been pending for 12 hours. Tried rebroadcasting a couple times during the 12 hours. Tried switching to a different light wallet server...still...pending...
You should do the reattach, not the rebroadcast. Do it in every 30 minutes. You will be fine.
What was the reason of the transition? Was there a security hole of the former seed generation or usage? I really wonder because I use several seeds to spread my stake. It is quite an effort to change all of them and store them savely. Nevertheless, thanks for your help!
I've got a question before doing the transition of my balance. I just installed the new version (2.4) on my machine and I am going to following this tutorial https://blog.iota.org/new-gui-transition-phase-explained-b536ed80f412 Is it a problem to use the old seed as the new seed? My old seed already meets the requirements of 81 characters with only capital letters and number 9. I am asking because I stored the old seed on several secureplaces and if I choose a new one I need to update each place with the new seed. Thanks in advance for your help!
Yes, it is required to use a new seed. You must use a new seed.

Hi all I already know this info: https://blog.iota.org/new-gui-transition-phase-explained-b536ed80f412 but when I try to recover, the new 2.4.0 version shows me the error "seed too long"; indeed my seed is of 90 characters...what to do? is there a way to adjust or convert a seed too long? thanks in advance
The maximum length is 81 chars. If you take out the last 9 chars out of your 90 chars you will be fine.
I'm about to download, install, and setup the new wallet but would like to be sure of where I'm at first... I had some amount of IOTA (say, 1000) for a long period of time. Sitting synced in my wallet. Within the last week, I've obtained and sent additional IOTA (say, 500) to my wallet. Those IOTA appeared and I've had the wallet open and displaying that total balance ever since then. My PC (Windows 10) just rebooted for some automatic updates. When I opened my IOTA wallet, I'm now seeing the original transaction amount and not the full amount that I expect to see. It was originally showing 0 until I used the Attach To Tangle option. Then the original (say, 1000) balance came in. But the rest has not come back in yet. I would obviously like for it to appear again at some point, but I don't know if that's a misguided expectation. Is there anything that I need to do in order to rectify the situation? Is it as simple as waiting it out or are there steps that I should be taking?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yGTF0eclG-4 this guy has 554 Ti WTF ! 554 out of 2779 total supply one guy has 20% of all the available IOTAS ? thats crazy, that worth 296 million dollars right now edit: looks liike must be the testnet
Money and addresses have disappeared from my Android wallet. Is this because of snapshot and will restore itself later? Or what should I do to restore it? My node: service.iotasupport.com 14265
Attach addresses until you see your balance again (for Android). For Desktop: Wait for the new wallet. There is supposed to be an easy one click solution to make your balance appear again.
btw my balance is disappeared completely and even the support was not able to restore this. And we generated more than 100 new addresses!
New GUI has not come out yet. Wait for the new GUI. Android wallet is not made by the IOTA team and you need to ask the Android dev for all questions.

For the GUI users, all you need is to wait for the new GUI wallet.
Hi newby here. After starting my wallet I get the message "cannot connect to host" where I previously never had this problem. On top the top when I look at node info, I see; http://iota.bitfinex.com:80. Someone an idea how to solve? Thanks in advance.
I've seen this discussed in a /r/cryptocurrency thread and I'm curious if it's true or not: do IOTA and Byteball truly have concurrent transactions?
concurrency = can it have a transaction in China getting confirmed in the same time as one in France, without them having anything to do with one another?
I think it is true. It is one of the main points of DAG and not using blockchain. Transactions can be validated simultaneously and don't have to wait in the line to get into a block. It is a way to scale. However, there is still a way to add a workaround of timestamp in IOTA's distributed ledger - Tangle - http://iota.org/timestamps.pdf

Re: Tau-Chain and Agoras Official Thread: Generalized P2P Network
The transaction was confirmed. First withdrawel to my new deposit I made was a test for 1000 IOTA, now my wallet says 1 transaction and 1 Gi. But the later 2 bigger transactions that bitfinex confirmed are not in the wallet I guess. No idea what the situation is now, maybe you can tell me. Thanks in advance
If they are not in your wallet they have not been sent by Bitfinex yet. If they are in your wallet and are pending you can do the reattach option.
I have read on several blogs that there is a deal between IOTA, Cisco, Foxconn, Bosch and others. I looked for any official information or announcement but could find anything. Is the information on the blogs correct or just speculation?
Hi guys, I bought a ton of IOTA bitfinex, first made a withdrawel of 1000 IOTA which went through. I says now 1 Gi in my wallet, I guess this right. But the I tried a really big withdrawel and the coins never arrived, but my bitfinex account said "completed". After looking in the permalink I saw that I put in exact the right address, but when I look at TXID I see the last 9 characters from the recieving address disappeared. Later I tried another withdrawel and the same thing happened. Bitfinex didn't answer my mails for more than 24 hours now. Any of you guys an idea what is going on here?
The last 9 digits is the checksum which is added by the wallet side. The real address is the first 81 chars. You are fine. You also can reattach your transaction to speed up the confirmation if your transaction from Bitfinex is not confirmed yet. Go to your wallet and go to Histroy and click the bundle under the pending transaction and click the Reattach. You will see a duplicate transaction showed up. Don't worry only one of them will get confirmed eventually.if you don't see the pending transaction, it means Bitfinex has not sent the transaction yet.
Thanks for your extensive response. It answered my question. However a new quesiton arose. What is the maximum size of data which could be stored in the tangle with one single transaction? Since there are no fees I could theoretically store a mass of data without paying anything. If I got it right, it is just enough to confirm two other transaction to attach my transaction to the tangle.
There will be a size limit for Tangle. IOTA will use automatically local snapshotting to handle it. The full Tangle data can be stored in permanodes for long term storage. The Permanodes are like a storage marketplace on top of IOTA. But you have to pay for it. In this case, tangle is more like a transit real time data storage place like what happens in this use case - https://www.coindesk.com/trust-odometer-blockchain-test-aims-turn-tide-car-tampering/
