Re: Is etherium a complementary process built on top of bitcoin?

Ethereum and Bitcoin are essentially two different technologies (protocols) within the cryptocurrency asset class.

Beware, you'll run into a lot of evangelists who claim one is better than the other. This is for you to decide. Most of the people involved are emotionally invested for one reason or another.

Ethereum is more of a platform. It is its own eco-system. It has a very flexible and continuously evolving programing language. This is why you see the majority of software development working with it. Bitcoin has been stagnant for years. The key to technology is to follow the development. No devs, no progress. I don't code but many developers claim that the Bitcoin protocol can be very difficult to develop on. Again, take this with a grain of salt and test things on your own if interested.

Ether is the 'coin' that is complementary to the Ethereum platform.

Bitcoin is what inspired Ethereum. Without it, none of this exists.

I hold both but every year I find less and less of a reason to support Bitcoin itself. Definitely read more into both and find what interests you most.

He's an irrational nut job, that happens to be right about some things. His followers are likely to be irrational nut jobs too. Which means if he tells them "BIT[Suspicious link removed]D!", then this is good for bitcoin.

his followers are devoted and will probably buy in heavy with repeated BTC talk/education.

Re: "Millionaire" is a fiat-based term

This is futile. It will be "bitcoin-mil/bill/trill-ionaire" until the USD/EURO/GBP go the way of the DoDo. The media and people of the general public will continue to use fiat as a barometer of wealth.

Possibly the new generation (kids who are under 4 now) will come up with another term.

The problem with Bitcoin is no matter how long I stare at this damn forum, the price never goes up to where I feel like a member of the wealthy elite.

Patience, give it a few years
Looks like someone was hoping Bitcoin was a get rich quick scheme.

Nope. It was a joke in light of this post.

Though, I'm pretty confident I'm not the only one who's a little anxious after many months of hodling. I am prepared to go YEARS but I reserve the right to make light of the situation.

It seems they do these to benefit investors but wouldn't that also skyrocket the BTC:USD value?

Don't they already do this with dollars?

Why would they need to complicate things with Bitcoin?

Re: Bitcoin needs something equivalent to a stock split

It's relatively easy to get everyone in the Bitcoin community to switch to mBTC.

...compared getting the MEDIA to switch.

so I like your idea. The BTC "stock split" would be a news story for 2 weeks tops. Then again, we'll have to get used to correcting the "LOL Bitcoin dropped by 50%, Im not buying into that scam LOL" crowd.

Do not think bitcoins will pass $1000 in 2014, may be in 2015. Too much bad news so far.

a lot can happen in 9 months.
