Re: GRAND COIN - 1 GRAND PER BLOCK and SUPER BLOCKS released TODAY 13/07/13

I'm mining on http://gdc.nordicminers.eu/ but it seems I'm getting a quarter of what I should get with 4.6MH/s

With a difficulty that varies from ~3.5k to 6.5k, I should get in 24H something like 10k to 20k GDC, but I'm only getting ~5000

Their pool page is totally misleading, showing that I should get ~20k GDC with a ~5k difficulty, when in a few hours of relative stable difficulty (4.5k to 5.5k), I got ~200GDC per hour, instead of 600 to 800.

This is not the only pool which is completely of (and it's not specific to GrandCoin), showing great profitability when in fact it's much worse than mining standard LTC.

Yes, the pool statistics page is off. I wish the page could take the 24h block average into account for basing the values. Instead of just plain calculation "snapshot" diff vs your hashrate. Rest assured though that my pool pays out everything it gains from the blocks. Even a superblock will be split evenly among the current miners, I only get 1% for maintaining the site and it's alot of work Smiley

My tip to you is to figure out if you want to mine the coin for 5k/day. Or check if you get more than 5k/day on another pool, I can't sadly affect the luck of the blocks.

I was just saying the same thing and noticed this post so relocated. When I started mining with 4,000 KH/s, mining calculators and the pool said I would get about 13k coins a day. Two days in I have 9k coins where in theory should have closer to 25k based on calculations. Major dif.

In the meantime, I have put up a dedicated server to mine this pool.  Are you sick of lag and pools that just don't work?  Then try this...

GDC.DEDICATEDPOOL.COM

Sign up, mine without interruptions or lag.

- dedicated server with gobs of cpu/memory and network bandwidth
- 60 confirms
- payouts work and everything tested hourly and works!
- backups every 30 minutes.  These pool operators losing databases is not acceptable.
- an admin who is a computer engineer and knows what the hell he's doing.

Like a turn in the wrong direction. What gdc pools exist use the same front end as this.  Can't do crap on a mobile device. Not even register. Is there a way to pass something to it so it will be in standard desktop view. Unlike most websites this has no option to switch to desktop view.

jr

JR - help me understand.  Why are you connecting from a mobile device?  I'd like to make it so everyone can connect and enjoy so if I can help in any way, explain what you're trying to accomplish so I can help.

Thanks!

All my miners are servers basically. Monitorless with logmein remote access. I manage all my accounts thru my ipad. I manage all my miners thru logmein thru my ipad. I never go to the physical computers mining and sit there with a keyboard and mouse. I have 5 mining rigs and manage them all remotely. When I start to setup a new coin I go to the website for the pool on my ipad and register an account and setup my workers. Can't do either of this in the mobile view. Easy enough would be to have the ability to switch the website to desktop view.

Yeah, join us at http://gdc.nordicminers.eu/. I don't own it or something, but I'm happily mining over there.

You need to register, but who cares? I haven't received a confirmation e-mail I think, so you can make up  an e-mailaddress. Alltough, that emailaddress can change your password if they want.

Thanks. Couple issues with that pool:

- looks like a European based pool so rejects may be higher from the US
- I work day to day on an ipad and that pool software has no way to register from their mobile view and no way to switch to desktop view. Not a nice experience.

Are there any good pools for grandcoin or mostly a solo mine coin?  Most pools I find either require you to register before seeing how much hash power there is on that pool, or in most cases pool has zero hash rate, or pool is no longer there.  Preferably pools that have a US presence.

Thanks.

Did we loose about a third of our hashing power for scrypt when the coin value dropped?  Always remember port 7777 being at upper 900MHs. Now always in the 600s

JR

We've lost around 150MH or so in the past couple weeks.  We were generally only over 900 while mining some coins that already had a decent amount of dedicated miners.

Not sure if it's people going back to dedicated LTC (or other coin) mining, or people shutting down their GPUs because it's not profitable anymore.

I'm not sure how it was ever profitable.  Maybe way back. I do not pay for electricity and am still struggling to break even on my $1k worth of cards let alone be profitable. For me just worth having the cards keep mining in the hopes to break even. Scrypt is worth half or less what it used to be, but BTC has doubled, so can get the same amount back for selling .5 BTC as I used to for 1 BTC. To me it seems to be a wash from today and before some Chinese company said they will take BTC as payment and now all of a sudden BTC is through the roof. Still never quite understood why that was something we should all consider this big of a deal. Accepting as a legit currency is nice, but swinging the dial that far?

Pools are back up.  I gotta take my kid trick or treating, so I won't be able to fix the website until later.

Have a good trick or treat. For reference the pools are not working. Nothing connecting.

Can we stop mining PXC because autosell never works on cryptsy and it's not worth my time to sell digits of pxc for 500 satoshis each.

PXCs can add up. I have collected about 1500 of them the last week.  Plus don't use Cryptsy auto sell. They charge fees for each sale on top of the other fees. Plus as you noticed if doesn't always work. Not just PXC. Just my thought.

FRC = Freicoin, not Franko.  We never had Franko.

Bummer. Guess it was wishful thinking. Always liked Franko.

Anyone else thinking mining is becoming pointless?  Especially with the rise in BTC value?  Most alt coins have plummeted. I normally cash in my alt coins but had .27 BTC worth of alt coins in Cryptsy last night. Today after a night mining worth now worth .16. I'm loosing money while I mine and don't even pay for electricity for it.

I think you need to look at mining income in fiat unless your utility company charges in BTC. If BTC went up 30% against the USD and also 30% against alt coins then nothing changed other than the number of BTC you made.

OMG, convert our BTC daily income to USD or EUR to know how much we really earn!!! What a shocking and brilliant idea!!!

Sorry for the sarcasm, I can't help it.

BTW, altcoin mining is crashing a lot faster than BTCUSD growing.

No need to say sorry. I enjoy sarcasm, both giving and receiving. Yes you are right, alts took a hit against fiat as well, also my electricity company announced a price rise and these two factors have ended my mining exploits. Good luck to all those with cheaper power who can continue.

For the short term I'm still mining. Just not selling any of my coins. Oddly since I wrote the original message still haven't made anything.  I am hashing a bit over 4 MHs and all the coins I'm getting, conversion value to BTC keeps dropping. In the event things turn around, I'll be well positioned to eventually sell my alt coins.

I was given a private IP by Flound which did work for my API reader. But this is not a permanent solution to redirect everybody to a private IP address to use an API. API pages cannot be protected by Incapsula, because it is intended to be used between a browser and a website. API on the other hand is not accessed from the browser most of the time but rather it is access by some script (unfortunately DDOS attacks are done by the scripts as well) . So the error messages should not be in HTML but they should be in JSON as API is using json as an output.

I see cryptsy is using a separate domain/IP address for its API for the reasons listed above.

Thanks for the reply. Hopefully for the short term Flounder will get back to me with a  solution for me, alternative address or whitelist if possible. I love the amount of info shared in the site unlike some other multi pool like sites, but can't stand not having my consolidated mobile view.

Thanks.

Any update on the JSON?  Not sure if my PM'd IP was added to the exception list.  I am noticing Incapsula is screwing everything up?  See the custom CAPTCHA page you were telling me about but obviously can't enter the code when it's a vendor's webserver.  I have 6 miner systems and need this feed to monitor what my individual machines are doing as the standard website shows for each coin what each miner is doing (if one machine has 3 cards and each mining a different coin, each worker shows 3 times) and I've consolidated it in various ways to know easily if a miner has stopped.  Even getting 404 error iframe boxes on the screen when it's trying to connect.  When I do a refresh of the page, the URL changes to.

http://localhost/_Incapsula_Resource?CWUDNSAI=23_06D98857&incident_id=133000630312744962-1253996524770493430&edet=12&cinfo=180db217c753818f04000000

I am trying this on my local computer which is on my personal network to eliminate my hosting provider from the issues.  Which apparently shows Incapsula is mucking things up.  I have tried my thought of passing a user agent but doesn't do anything.  Guess just like other acts of terrorism, if you want to call a DDOS attack terrorism, they are winning.  Making our lives more difficult to deal with.  Sorry to go all philosophical but for me a deal breaker.  Not really your problem Flound if there is no way around it to protect yourself but what you gonna do.

FYI:  Can't tell date of the thread, but looks like a common issue with this protection: http://www.enjin.com/forums/m/10826/viewthread/4539356-accessing-enjin-api-through-php-gives-404-or-redirect

Thanks.

How often are you polling?  The DDoS protection might have flagged you as a possible bot.

PM me your IP and I'll whitelist you.

Adam,

Please disable your Incapsula protection for api: it just doesn't work
This is what I get:
Code:

Yeah I saw this also when I hit the json feed from one of those online json viewers.  Probably what my app is getting. If I open it on PC directly it opens after 15 seconds or so, usual slow response. On my web server hosting provider exits almost immediately.

Hopefully when my ip is added to the exception list it will work and be an answer.

JR

Edit:  taking an educated guess. Wonder if the json pull is not conveying a user agent string the system likes and thinking its a bot. Gonna have to try that when I'm near a computer.

Sent you a message. For reference it's a manual thing so just once in a while when I refresh my browser.

Almost looks like something changed. Multipool json feed usually takes 10 - 30'seconds to return. Now it's actually returning in 1.3 seconds no data it seems. Or the json structure changed. Or perhaps it is being rejected but my program isn't retrying so almost seems like it's finished and no data or the output format changed.

Thanks.
