I like the design and the content looks good to me.
The dumbest thing about this video was the actors using physical bitcoins to buy things in the video. Yeah I know Casascius coins have existed, and paper wallet sweeping is totally legitimate applications of bitcoins in the physical world, , but it is a slap in the face and confusing to non-bitcoiners to see the guy pickup some sort of bitcoin coin on the ground and then spend it by paying for something in the same way you might hand someone a 1 dollar coin. Its unrealistic and confusing.
Yeah I totally get your point. It was more symbolic than anything. I have a casascius coin which I wanted to use really just as a hat-tip to Mike Caldwell (but you couldn't really tell what it was on camera), but mainly having a physical coin just looked better for video.
Be warned, the security of this app is not great. It stores your Blockchain.info password and your app's PIN in plaintext on your phone, retrievable over USB. It also stores an encrypted copy of your Bitcoin wallet right next to the plaintext password (which can be used to decrypt the wallet). I haven't checked, but I imagine these files might be included in iTunes backups of the device too.
The sandbox keeps it safe from other apps, but you are 100% insecure on a jailbroken device.

That does sound pretty poor. However, if the app stores its data in /Documents and you have a lock on your phone (preferably complex passphrase / touch ID) then the app's data should be encrypted on your device.
Didn't the recent "scandal" about those usb "backdoor" services show that this isn't good enough; you need to set those explicit NSFileProtectionComplete attributes?
The usb "backdoor" applies only to computers you have specifically authorized by unlocking the phone and tapping "trust this computer." If you can unlock the phone, you could just transfer yourself the contents of the bitcoin wallet anyway.

Bitcoin is quite obviously more secure than traditional money transfer methods as there are no middlemen to mess with your transaction.
As long as you keep your private keys safe
So as long as you ignore the factor that makes it unsafe, it's safe.

Integration with a desktop version would eliminate the need for two separate mobile devices. It might be helpful to define a standard method for encoding raw transactions through QR codes. Has this ever been done through a BIP or other proposal?

Thanks for the clarification, I didn't know it was the governments duty to govern. What bitcoin says, about 99.99% of the worlds population, at this point, does not care about.

The event industry will definitely love bitcoin- low fees and no chargeback risk changes the game. No need for a merchant acquiring bank in order to sell tickets online!

In the meantime, use Gyft to purchase at Amazon. If sales numbers are high enough, Amazon might take notice and decide to accept bitcoins directly, just to cut out the middlemen.
