Re: How come BTC is not at least $75,000 yet?

The rush? I've never sold a bit of BTC since 2013 and I'm starting to get bored, that's the rush. I want to feel the fruits of my labor too. Don't plan waiting 10 more years.

Damn. I hope you have backed up your Keys. I looked at so many blocks and thought most of these people lost their coins... apparently some of them are just diamond handed. I sold so much BTC for worthless fiat money. Don't be like me, kids. Stay with BTC!

Do Bitcoin Maxis sell - ever?

When I first started my Crypto Journey as a small (and stupid) private Investor I first bought ETH. After that I bought the "old & slow" BTC.
When I gained 100%+ after around 1 year, I sold half of my BTC&ETH to own "free crypto".

It felt like I was Warren Buffet on Crack and it also definitely helped me to get through the bear market after 2017.
In this time I became a hardcore "BTC or die"-Guy. I still own some stupid altcoins, but really small amounts.
Its gambling and testing around for me. I don't want to outperform BTC with it, just try staking or the network itself.

Right now I feel like (besides all the risks), that I don't want to trade my BTC back to weird fiat digits on my bank account
- Even at times it maybe would be the more financally smart thing to do. Maximizing profits aside: How do you guys feel about selling
BTC for fiat gains (or even at a loss [maybe for tax reasons or because your insane  Grin ]?

Do you guys life by the "No Neo, I'm trying to tell you that when you're ready... you won't have to (sell your btc)"-Meme or
are you mere mortals that sell before they lose their fiat profits?

Bitcoin Payback System?
by

Hello my fellow toxic Bitcoin Maximalist,

I launched a small and buggy comparison Portal (LaHUGE.com) and thought in some far fetched future I could
maybe give registered Users the Option to gain Sats by buying anything. No strings attached, 0 Sat fee, Instant payment via LN.

Even if it would be possible by law in my country, how would you approach something like that? I guess linking a User with a
verified purchase will be the "easy" part. How could I connect an LN Node with this kind of User Data? Are there any Tutorials
about anything like this?

I was just wondering about that Idea for some time now and thought this place could be a got Start to get some first hints  Cheesy

You can check out elixir: https://launcher.elixir.app/games

There is at least one interesting game there lightnite https://lightnite.io/ . Sort of a low-poly Fortnite. Right now it's open beta ...
The NFTs are on Liquid sidechain but hey, close enough I guess  Tongue

Holy shit, how did I miss out on this?! Thanks! Liquid is a good start Cheesy

What, if a LN channel closes? What happens to the 'NFT data'?

Let's imagine your Channel is like your Account/ID in that game. If you close your channel and did not sell every item, the Data is gone forever. The thing I dislike about this approach is that the game seems to be bound to some "master nodes" which kind of defeats the purpose of a decentralized game. It should also be possible to link NFT Items to an account (via BTC signing) even if the channel gets closed, but a tx on the mainchain should be maybe a backup solution if everything fails.

I did not test it by now, but it should be possible to use the "Memo" of an LN tx to store a Hash of what ever I want. I guess this alone should be enough to send NFT Data via LN. What concerns me is the part of opening a Channel. The question is: To whom?

Even a P2P Game that uses its Players as Host would eventually delete Data of other Users, which seems pretty unenjoyable  Grin Maybe some LN users would host these "Account Channels" to gain Traffic (= tx revenue) on their node? I don't know by now.

Now if there could be an open application layer built on top of LN that including NFT funtionality (have no idea if this is even possible), rather than having to go with one of these sidechains controlled by companies which is pretty much no different than altcoins, I think that could have a possibility of being something big on Bitcoin.

That's exactly my thought / question: Is this even possible? When It's possible why is there nothing like that or am I not searching enough?

Re: "Only invest an amount you can afford to lose"
by

Thoughts? Opinions?

It depends. I think the most disturbing numbers are the once, we'll never (fully) see: Like Eurodollar Network stuff. By now I've seen and read anything between "hyperinflation is now", "stagflation is now", "deflation is now". The one thing I guess we can all agree on is that the current global financial system is a. fucked up and b. highly complex.

... That given: Who knows what BTC will do. In theory BTC is more or less the only fix for that mess we got into with fiat, but if only a few million (even that seems pretty cool tho) use it - we'll fail eventually. Its basically a financial war and it looks extremely well for us crazy internet money guys. I myself invested never more than I could afford to lose for 2 Halvings, but since Covid hit the market my FOMO kicked in. I guess "Only invest an amount you can afford to lose" is a good Phrase for risk averse people or starters.

Lets not forget that most people think not having a support hotline is a bad idea. I myself have to grow on that thought still after all these years Cheesy Before 2017 BTC seemed like a small hobby project going off the rails, now 4 years later the first mayor Banks and some small Countys are using it.

We're getting somewhere. Even pretty fast, if you ask me... but BTC will be a "risky Investment" for the most of the people for a looooong time. At least I know now: "There is no top, Neo."

PS.: Don't trade your hard earned BTC for Fiat, that's ridiculous  Cool

I agree Liquid isn't open or permissionless enough, i never used Liquid either. Alternatively, you could check Rootstock (https://www.rsk.co/) which have smart contract capability. It's less promoted than Liquid, but AFAIK it's more open and use merged mining on Bitcoin network.

I'll note that. I knew this won't be easy by any means, but it seems horribly hard. I'll need to research a lot more than I thought, but I still like the idea. I need to talk to some friends. Thanks for some first impressions!

I don't think LN in its present state has anywhere near the transactions per second as Ethereum has so that will be quite the obstacle for you to overcome.

Really? That would be one of my smallest concerns. Of course it could be one, but something like missing functions would be a bigger hassle. TBH I'm running a LN Node, but just for fun. I'm just trying to get some impressions online - So thanks for your Answer Smiley

As far as colored coins are concerned (ie. the NFT precursor) you could look into RGB:
https://rgb-org.github.io/

THIS! But it seems like in the last 12 years nothing big happend in this direction. I'll continue my research.
Maybe we'll see us in some years, when I launch a first blue print. OpenSource Bitcoin MMO seems like something
that should be done already. I wonder why it did not happen by now.

Alternatively, you could use Liquid Network. While the network is controlled by federation board, it utilize Bitcoin/Bitcoin network which partially meet OP criteria.

I never used Liquid, but I've read a bit about it. I don't really know if using Liquid would be open enough. I like the Idea of Lightning Channels.
Seems more like something everyone can use & setup without asking for permission.

If I am a gamer, why would I want want to play blockchain-based games? For the potential to earn money?

Nah. Because you can own the game (items) that way. I see all these fake Gamble shitgames on ETH popping up and thought this can't be it.
Lightning would provide small Fees & fast TX times. I just don't know where I should even start. I was just curious what btc talk thought about
this.

Many seem to think I want to use the BTC Mainlayer. That would be stupid as fuck. I thought maybe a LN Wallet could be the Game Account.
On this LN Wallet are your Items for your Char. These Items can then be traded or stuff like that. Just mind mapping around.

I just want a new type of game era. Fuck this whole EA gamble shit and the Items aren't even in your hand. This CANT be the future anyone wants.

Re: Why did you miss Bitcoin?
by
JustAnOtherLoser
on 01/11/2021, 15:54:37 UTC
I missed BTC because I was just a script kiddie at the time it was below 1$. I've read about it in a forum back then, but never bothered to us it.
Why use weird hash-money I don't really understand, when I can play Habbo Hotel without using BTC? When BTC was at 10$ I was stoked that
this thing still existed and seems to be rising in price. I told my parents and they shrugged it off as stupid teenager shit. Me having no own
Bank account or even when I had one not being 18 made it a real struggle to buy BTC. After being told over and over again that BTC is nothing
special and it will be useless I "forgot" about it.

When BTC hit 1.000$ I was more or less old enough to understand English and cryptographic stuff well enough to, at least somewhat, understand
what BTC does and how it does it. I thought "damn, I'm to late now. Should've bought it when it was around 1-10$" and never stopped learning
about BTC, but also never bought anything. Buying BTC was still pretty weird for me at the time.

Fast forward: BTC is now worth 4k. I bought my first 200-ish Dollars of BTC and feel like missing out again. Btc goes to 17k. Drops to 3k. I bought
a bit here and there. Bought a fuckton of stupid altcoins. Made A LOT of mistakes and now I more or less trust that BTC will be the last money
we'll ever usw. BTC is just superior to anything else I've ever seen.

BTC feels like Linux + Internet + Money, just on Crack. Its funny that we live in this transitory time where no one REALLY knows what will happen,
but deep down many know BTC will be the solution many people are searching for.

I don't regret buying BTC "too late". I think BTC will be worth a lot more in the future, but the most valuable thing about BTC is that saving money
finally makes sense again. I hate spending money. Bitcoin fixes this.

Hey Guys,

with LN becoming more and more "a thing" and me being bullish on BTCs future as the last currency we will ever adopt,
I thought to myself: Are there any LN BTC driven NFT games? Are they any good? If not: Why?

Of course I'll google that shit, but I guess this forum could also be a nice start for my research. As a proud owner of my
cryptokitties from the last century, I know there is a lot NFT Stuff and "Games" happening on the ETH Chain.

Call me a hater, but I prefer my Games to use real money - not premined shitcoins. We already got some of these, we call
them Dollars. My Checklist for this game would be something like: OpenSource, Items are NFTs, BTC driven, LN (or else)
for Micro TXs.

Could some of you give me a List of things I should read/learn to get behind any of this? I know Games are a FUCKTON of
work, but I'm a Web Developer and this project idea boggles my mind. It feels like there should be a good BTC Game. Like an
opensource Diablo, WOW or something.

Re: Is a hardware wallet really worth it?
by
JustAnOtherLoser
on 06/09/2021, 23:31:43 UTC
In short: YES! I would even recommend to use mutilple Wallets at some point.
Detailed answer: It depends on your amount of stored BTC / Krypto. If you'll lose 1-100k, maybe buy a wallet. If you lose 100$, maybe wait. Every other thing has been explained already. Cold storage is what makes BTC free.

I'm not really trading, but who doesn't like more BTC by selling high and buying again "low"?
Am I wrong or is the mempool being pretty empty a REALLY bad sign for the 50%+ in Price?
Is this the last high for this year? Or am I being too paranoid after 2017  Grin

Hardware Wallet Backup Key - Does it back up Alts?
by
JustAnOtherLoser
on 11/08/2021, 00:06:55 UTC
Hey guys,

if this was already asked (which it will be), a link to the thread would be awesome Tongue
The title should really say it all: If I backup my 24(+1) Seedphrase from my Ledger,
Bitbox, Trezor or whatever => Am I also backing up my Altcoins?

The only way I imagine this could be possible is, if the wallet software from the
company uses the btc masterkey to generate all other keys on the wallet. Is that
the case and if so: Are there hardware wallets that don't do this?

Thanks in advance!
