Re: AMD Radeon Software Adrenalin Edition 18.3.4 vs Crimson?

In the release notes they do mention this might decrease some blockchain performance.

I can confirm with Claymore 11.5, I was getting about 31.9 MH/s on my 6 x RX470 rig with custom BIOS, but now I'm getting 27.6 MH/s about 12% less. Seems more consistent in terms of speed. The power draw is now lower too.

Also my rig froze today after a 10 days of work. I will keep the new drivers and see how the rig will behave in the next couple of weeks.

Last minute correction: changed dcri to auto detect and I'm getting 31.9MH/s again! Power draw increased a bit...

11.5 looks stable on 6 x 470 rig with modded BIOS - avg 180 Mh/s

Thank you Claymore!

I have a six 470 rig, modded BIOS with Claymore 11.2 and the following config:

-dcri 1
-cclock 1240
-mclock 2200
-cvddc 950
-tt 72
-fanmin 50
-fanmax 90

Does anyone know why I'm getting about 27MH/s for the 5 GPUs and 32MH/s for 1 of them?
The GPUs are identical and bought on the same batch.

Nevermind, upgraded to 11.3 with auto dcri; getting about 32MH/s per card; auto dcri works perfectly taking the guesswork out.

Great job @claymore !

ETH is not a scam, but competition (NEO, EOS) maybe surpass it in 2018.

I'm holding and staking Deep Onion, cryptos focusing in privacy will be huge in the coming years, imo.
The more regulation and centralized control we have from central banks as cryptos go mainstream the more the privacy backed altcoins will be needed; it will be the cash of the future just like cash is anonymous today.

Re: [GUIDE][AMD][NVIDIA][CPU][XMR]How to Mine Monero / Sumokoin + Miners Downloads ⛏

I was about to flash the modded bios for my RX470 (knowing that I have Samsung memory I presumed that the manufacturer was Gigabyte) but after running SRB Polaris, I found out that my card is a Sapphire but with Samsung memory!

@Mattthev being very helpful, will upload in the coming days a modded BIOS for this version of RX470 Sapphire with Samsung memory in https://mining-bios.eu

BIOS was updated, a very straightforward process based on the guide provided.

Observations so far: with timings 1240/2000 and 850v AMD_XMR_STAK 2.2 delivers about 950 H/s per GPU, but after some hours the software is frozen and I have to restart the software not the rig (with the default GPU bios always I had to restart the rig). I think it is a matter of tweaking and testing to achieve stability.

Anyway the good thing is that Claymore is running perfectly without any freezes etc.

I do have noticed though that temperatures are pretty low for AMD_XMR_STAK (47c max) where Claymore is much higher (close to 60c) and also GPU power draw for XMR_STAK is lower vs Claymore (~73v vs ~97v).

ETH at the moment is more profitable than Monero... so I'm switching Smiley ETZ seems like a good idea, too.

If G20 countries decide to put some regulations together, as per recent news, this will draw in the market institutional money; I'm expecting a good sustainable lift of market cap at least for tokens and coins that have substance and / or a solid business case like EOS, NEO, ETH for sure... but I'm not quite confident about BTC. Maybe that will make correlation between BTC and alts to break up.

A balanced distribution among the two would be the best depending on your risk tolerance, considering BTC the riskier asset at the moment.

The relationship of bitcoin, altcoins and the market are intact. Without bitcoin there is no altcoins. Without bitcoin and altcoins there is no market place today. The price crash will be normal again when both gain the miss part.

Yes, but the correlation between crypto market and the actual stock market is quite astonishing at this point, both crashed almost at the same time.

If you happen to watch also the stock markets, in the last couple of days and especially today there was a huge crash also in US (and around the world of course). It seems that people are selling assets (crypto and stocks). Is there a correlation or not?

Gold is rising while equity markets around the world and cryptocurrencies are crashing. This kind of punches a hole in the theory that Bitcoin will be considered as some kind of digital gold. There definitely is a correlation and investors are selling risky assets because the yield on treasury bonds is increasing, making them more attractive.

I agree that main theme is the rising of treasury bonds yield, but the situation may get worse since a lot of investment was also done in volatility based ETFs - especially the ones that were shorting volatility (like XIV which was crashed from 140$ to 15$ in just 2 days erasing half a billion $ from Credit Suisse P/L *** since they hold 1/3 of these shares). XIV pre-market trade is halted for the moment and there are rumors that CS will be forced to liquidate what's left...
On top pension funds - not only retail investors - have been invertsing in these ETFs creating a huge bubble which makes the so called BTC bubble look like a kidder garden.

*** Correction no impact on the P/L of Credit Suisse, just the holders of XIV will suffer the loss

These kind of forks are like stock dilution; Monero price may be affected since some % of money intended for XMR may go to XMV.

Monero is also quite profitable you can recover the cost of the miner in less than in a year; a miner with an avg of 3.5Kh/s mines almost 0.6 XMR per month. Assuming that the price of XMR will increase to about 400$+ in the coming months.

I agree, no one knows, we can only guess. in such high volatility market anything is possible from insane increase to insane drop in just a few days.
Risk management is key in such conditions - and a lot of new comers in this market do not know what this means....

RX470-Win10-XMR-Stak-AMD: Selected OpenCL device index 4 doesn't exist (SOLVED)
by
KK120
on 31/01/2018, 13:50:17 UTC
I'm posting this one to help other people in troubleshooting rigs with RX470, Windows 10 and XMR-Stak-AMD.
My rig was working OK (sometimes frozen but nothing to worry about after a restart of the rig). Yesterday after a restart, I got a bit upset because the rig was not working at all with the RX470 cards. When I was starting the XMT-Stak I was getting the following message:

[2018-01-30 12:41:37] : WARNING: backend NVIDIA disabled.
[2018-01-30 12:41:38] : Compiling code and initializing GPUs. This will take a while...
[2018-01-30 12:41:39] : Selected OpenCL device index 4 doesn't exist.

[2018-01-30 12:41:39] : WARNING: AMD device not found
[2018-01-30 12:41:39] : WARNING: backend AMD disabled.
[2018-01-30 12:41:39] : Starting 1x thread, affinity: 0
....

Long story short, for some reason the mining software did not recognise the 5th card (index 4). This was validated by deleting the amd config file at letting XMR-Stak to rebuild it; at that point it stopped to index 3 and then moved on to start mining over the pool.
Tried different things I have read in the net like changing the Platform manually form 1 to 0 but nothing worked. AMD tools were showing that the card was alive and working OK - so no issues from there.

What fixed the issue with XMR-Stak was to enter to system BIOS (not GPU) and save the card configuration (just change the card has the issue and set it back so it will allow you to save the BIOS again). Then I run the XMR-Stak with the 6 card configuration file and everything work perfectly.

I have 6 AMD 470 8GB Rig running windows 10 and STAK-XMR-AMD, since one month+ now.

It got stack a couple of times in the beginning, every 4-5 days but so far it worked non stop for the last 2 weeks until another freeze as we speak Sad

Re: ICO or buy later on exchange ?

ICO should give you the max return, especially if the project idea is solid. i will not aim to dump these coins in the first day in their exchange - I see this more like an investment by carefully selecting which ICOs to join. And do not put all your eggs in one basket - a % of your funds should go to ICO because your funds will be locked for a good period of time until the new coins trade in exchange or before they appreciate well in value.

I do not see Amazon accepting payments for goods in crypto in the near future; maybe when the crypto markets are regulated and become a mainstream payment method. Amazon is a listed company they will not take the risk to enter a highly volatile space that could blow up their valuation up or down every other week... Also check Seagate, they own a very large % of Ripple (as early stage investor) and still wall street does not recognise the value.
