There is a lot of noise on this thread, and I want to make sure everyone knows that the Devs of Karmacoin (the op, etc) have absolutely nothing to do with Karmashares LLC. The reason it is important to note this is Karmashares has a huge legal liability as described below, and the Devs ARE NOT responsible for any money lost by people who invest in Karmashares. The Devs do not endorse investment and in fact strongly warn against it. Here is the core issue regarding what can happen
1) Kosmost allows people to purchase a percentage of the Karmashares LLC entity with a promise that they will get paid a portion of profits the company makes. These people are then Owners.
2) If Karmashares LLC is successful, and Kosmost sells the company, there is nothing that says what Owners will get in a company sale (asset sale or stock sale). Kosmost could technically pocket the entire amount received given that he is the sole legal owner as defined in his LLC documents. The Owners may not receive anything. We, the Devs, do not want the Owners to look towards us at that point as we have nothing to do with this for-profit venture
3) If Karmashares LLC makes money, there is nothing that would stop Kosmost, as the sole CEO and legal owner, from giving himself a quarterly bonus right before the profits are to be shared. The bonus would spend all of the profits so that there would be nothing left to distribute. Owners again would look to someone to sue, and we want to make sure they know the Devs are not in any way responsible or associated.
4) If someone else sues Karmashares LLC, anyone designated an Owner (assuming the paperwork is proper for their stock certificates) would be liable for damages. This means the person who puts in 1000 Karmacoin would be liable for paying someone who wins a lawsuit against Karmashares LLC. The Devs again are not associated with this entity and are not responsible.
Yes, the LLC is a legal entity and for some reason Kosmost believes showing where the LLC is incorporated mitigates these major problems. Anyone can create an LLC on LegalZoom in about 20 minutes. In addition, a promise of transparency for the financials of Karmashares LLC still does nothing to fix these major issues.

They cannot make a company and sell karmacoin shares or trademark or copyright Karmacoin.
These guys have been active for 6 weeks on a project.
It is their opinion that they have the right to claim the coin as their own because of the inactivity of others.
Imagine if the world operated this way - "in my opinion you have not done enough - so I am taking it from you."
Anyway - it is still a good coin and as you can see people have a lot of passion for it, which is why we believe it has a solid future.

Kosmost each of the people you have convinced to buy into your LLC, assuming they are actually real owners of the LLC, will also be liable for damages for stealing the Karmacoin name, trademark and concept. In layman's terms, anyone who invests in your LLC will eventually need to pay dollars or forfeit their shares in a lawsuit.
If you try to argue that your investors are not liable for damages, then they are not real owners. In that case they have no way to stop you from taking all the profits as a bonus, then telling them there was nothing left for their quarterly payout. In other words, as the controlling CEO of your LLC you don't have to pay out a dime.
We tried to stop this quietly over the past few weeks, and now the world needs to know what you are actually doing. As the actual dev of the coin we want to make sure the world knows we have nothing to do with you and do not condone your actions.
You cannot take copyrights or trademarks and treat them like your own. You are not just taking 'Karma', you have taken 'Karmacoin' and use it throughout your literature.

We do not agree with the marketing direction of the coin. It is very focused on lining the pockets of a couple of people. As the BTC markets continue to improve we anticipate that KARM will improve without market manipulation. Until then - we believe that the economy of KARM needs to mature - and minimize marketing to promote pumping and dumping of the coin. It is important that the currency finds its legs among many not just a few spirited people.
We supported the marketing efforts until they went too far. Minimizing the pool size and actual conversation of pumping so the few could get rich was not in the best interest of KARM and we said enough to cooperating with the scheming. Not the KARM spirit.

If you are here still, then who is it exactly that is doing the Karmashares stuff and the other activities with the coin?
Also, which thing are you suggesting is for the few to get rich?
We have to be patient and wait for BTC to recover.

The concept of selling shares to an LLC is fraudulent and not sponsored by the KARM inventors/owners.
It is like someone buying A Ford Motor Car and liking it so much that they decide to attempt to sell shares and trademark the Form Motor Car as if they were the actual owners, just because they bought a car.

It was a tough decision and not everyone will agree. In fact, lots of people won't agree with the choice. They'll say bad karma is coming, and wonder what's happened to our core principles. All of that is to be expected because we are doing what we need to do.
its not the angry punters leaving that I am concerned about.. what concerns me is that by courting controversy you are asking some very powerful people to attack the Karmacoin network directly.
we aren't talking about verbal attacks here... in case you hadn't noticed there is a Cyber cold war going on at the moment. Coins that do not meet a certain standard of legitimacy first get ddossed to death and then if that doesn't work they get forked to death.
having been with KarmaCoin from almost the beginning I have noticed the distinct lack of attacks against the KarmaCoin network. this I put down to the fact that Karma does have some kind of legitimacy/neutrality and so for the most part it has been left alone... but once that legitimacy is lost in the eyes of some powerful people, then it becomes open season on KarmaCoin.
believe me.. if people who don't like it can destabilize the network then they will... and if they do destabilize the network then it will do far more damage than ANY negative publicity.
if you are prepared to take on the challenge of staying awake nights on end patching code to try and defend the network from attacks then by all means go right ahead open pandoras box.
if not then.... take heed of some wise words and try not to throw stones from the front porch of your glass house.

Kosmost. Your doing a great job, keep up the good work. I just want to thank you for your effort!
Thank you. Karmacoin has inspired me to do good and help others to spread this spirit around the world. The good work and words of the people in this community are certainly a big part of that inspiration. Knowing that what we are doing can have a global impact in the lives of many really keeps me going.
At the end of the month I will make a "The March 2014 Karmawards" post highlighting the wonderful work and deeds we have all done as a community for that month (though for the first one it will be since the beginning). No contribution is too small, because when you take a magnifying glass to any big movement "lots of small contributions" is exactly that you'll find.
