Like MOST people I know very little about vm or linux. Altcoins started with techies but a lot of us late arrivers are not interested in mechanics...

errrr right...

i would say: like MOST people, you dont even understand windows enough to install a virtualbox or any other vm. Linux these days are one-click installations mostly like windows.

What i don't get is that people show resistance on learning new things. They only learn enough to move a mouse over a screen and thats it.

Changing anything on Vertcoin - other than scrypt-n diff to eject asics - will result in a loss of trust in the coin.

And yes, i am a miner.
And yes, i am selling some of my coins to pay my bills.
Why? Simple!
I have no big financial background to live from and have to feed my family and pay my bills.

If there is anything changed on the coin with any other target than to get ridd of asics, i'll quit mining VTC.

If the "investors" can't handle it, well, get out of VTC and buy and sell other coins.

But i am pretty sure, most of us miners will just quit VTC and change to another coin if the devs would play with blockreward or anything just to push the price a bit.

And guess what a coin without miners is...

God clueless answers like this tilt me to no end. As you say you are a miner and you sell your VTC to whom do you think ?

Saying to potential buyer to "fuck off" is a good plan to bust this coin. You don't care about the coin you only care about ROI.

And just FYI, VTC is no longer profitable to mine so I don't know what bills you are paying now but if this trend keeps up, well you know.
Yes... i am just a clueless miner and that's the reason i am mining VTC and not DRK or anything else... Roll Eyes
I am not saying "fuck off" to potential buyers, i say "shut up" and "stop being greedy" to self-appointed "investors" and "crypto gurus".

And just FYI, if VTC would be no longer profitable for me, i would mine on for another 1-2 month and put away my VTC and will just wait till it is profitable again.
And my bills are getting payed not only from VTC you know... its called "work", you should try it out some day...

In my realm VTC is called "future investment" because fiat is just a deadend.
Any coin with asics/fpga is just for the big money to make even more money. VTC is the best opportunity for a down-market to get accepted.

Golden rule #1: Never gamble with money you need for a reasonable subsistence!

If you mess with rule No. 1 you deserve a swift kick to your nuts!

Golden rule #2: Greed eats brain!

Well, point your browser to: buddler.noip.me:9172 (copy => paste)
there you can see a hashrate for every miner connected with far more detail than a classic pool.

the "fragmentation"... well, you have to start your wallet to get your earnings even for a normal pool.
if you join a p2pool the main diff is that you just get your reward in smaller pieces and your wallet shows them as "mined".
if you click on the small box behind a vtc-address on my pool you will be redirected to a vtc explorer and can easily check your earnings one by one.
p2pool just needs ~24h to really get started for your payouts to reach max amount.

i like p2pool cuz of the decentralisation factor.
and i really like the "mined" symbol in my wallet... gives me the feeling that i really earned the reward Cheesy

dont get me wrong, i mined on coinotron too but had some heavy lags there and lost ~10-20% of my hashrate...
but other than that coinotron seems to be one of the more stable pools with no trolls/thiefs as admins.

nevertheless: happy mining! Smiley

Guys, the multipool x11.[Suspicious link removed] hash dropped by about 1/3rd. With it, the sell pressure from wafflepool is increasing.

Please take a moment to reconsider and mine on this pool.

You save half on electricity, keep your GPUs 10 degrees lower, and help neutralize scrypt-n multipools from building sell pressure.

In my case, I made 80% of VTC profitability yesterday. However, since I saved half on electricity... this comes out to more VTC after the cost of power.
You're right. Really there is a need for it. I would ask everyone to mining on http://x11.[Suspicious link removed]/

i had to quit mining there because it has become pathetically low 0.15vtc / mh.s / day

i'm mining vtc on coinotron now but i never dump my coins i've been mining and holding vtc since late march .... i think i'm still doing good to the coin by not dumping the 10 ~ 15 coin that i get my hands on daily for the past 3 months

hashing in @ 3.5 mh/s n-scrypt because of the summer heat , in winter i used to hash @ 4 ~ 4.2 mh/s

Why Coinotron? Why not a proper VTC pool that offers MON and PLX payouts?

like wat ? also these coins are worthless anyways , no ?

also i already optimized it and went from 35 mh/s to 45 mh/s by using files from 14.6 catalyst in the miner directory

Well, if you are just interested in VTC you may join my p2pool Smiley

-o (address): buddler.noip.me:9172
-u (user): your vtc-address
-p (passwd): anything
at least your hashingpower won't be wasted on a big pool like coinotron and gives my son some mon/plx Cheesy

if you have any questions: just ask or send me a PM.
i'm reading steadily here.

Is this caused by miners sending loads of dust payouts directly to their cryptsy accounts?

I dont get it...

All bad talk is about: VTC is losing ground...

Against what?

BTC? DRK? LTC?

My point of view is: vtc is stable ~ 1$ even there are more coins dumped.

Look at this like this way:
In the beginning VTC (few coins) was worth 1$
Now as VTC is kind of "trendy" its worth 1$ even there are much more coins available.

VTC has a more and more healthy base as more and more miners are setting up their own p2pool node => more decentralisation!

If this all hits the brains of some poor GPU miners when all the asics fireing up... well just wait and see...

BUT one point has to be changed!
Setting up merged mining (VTC+MON+PLX+???) needs to be more n00b friendly!
Otherwise there will be more centralisation on pools who are "one-click-all-coins-are-mined!" offering!
So please good Devs: do something about that!

Tried the config you sent, one GPU is fine but about the same hashrate (215KHs), the other GPU doesn't like it for some reason. Both are the same brand.
http://i.imgur.com/pLIFsqy.jpg
Please disable in AMD-CCC grafic-overdrive.

The GPU-core depends on the vendor of your hardware: i'm using a r9 280x from powercolor(a cheap vendor) and have a GPU-core of 970 with 330kh/s.
On Sapphire cards i'm using a gpu-core of 1050 with 350kh/s.

diff of 20kh/s => at atm price ~ 22$ per yeah diff Tongue but costs me 50 bucks less when buying new => 2 years ROI Wink
I don't recall the brand offhand, could be PowerColor...
I can check when I get home.
About the AMD-CCC thingy, how/where does one disable this (and re-enable if it doesn't help)?
Right click on desktop => AMD-Catalyst Control Center (CCC) => Performance => AMD Overdrive => remove checkbox "Enable GraphicsOverdrive" => done Smiley
Got me 3 brand new grey hairs till i found out what was wrong Tongue
Those "OverDrive" tuned the card down and "re-adjusted" my mining settings... *AAARRGGHHHhhhh...* Cheesy

And as i wrote above: every vendor has its own "sweet spot"... not every time is more = more hashes Smiley

Although it seems to counter logic, a high rejection rate doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong or missing some kind of detail. It means there COULD be something wrong, sure, but it can still happen even if everything is fine. If you're getting 8.5MH then you should pull 34 VTC in a day. If that's what you're mining, you're fine.

Gotcha.  Thanks.  I appreciate it.  I ran a couple speeds tests and noticed I wasn't getting what I was supposed to so I called my ISP and they did something but wouldn't tell me and that brought me back down to a normal range, still higher than I'd like to be but better.  Thanks again.
Try changing the wireless channel if you are connected wireless. Perhaps one of your direct neighbours is using the same channel. i'm getting a reject of max 5% on my node connected via wire.

VertCoin will explode in the coming months.

Once scrypt ASICs care out. It's true.

All complex algo coins (X11, Quark, scrypt-jane) will spike.

For me it looks like a lot of people doing crypto trading and mining are sad of the thing now.

I am  for example beeing in this world for a half year now. Alltogether i think i lost around 5000€ over the last
six months investing in LTC, a mining rig andspend BTC on coins. All the coins i mined i did hold and nearly all of them getting worthless.
After discussion with upcomming asics i decided to go VTC. I bought at 690k, 400K, 240K and in the beginning on 40K.
So at current price i have a red zero on VTC, but with more price decline ists getting really red now.

It´s a big loss alltogether now and mining on my powercost is a dayly loos of 50% ( means i can buy 50% lower than mine myself )

My last big loss was trying to mine AC for 2 week. The coins are now wothless ( since yesterday ) because the big dev scam
Also X11 coins like DRK and HIRO can´t be mined without a 50% loss.

So my conclusion is to stop all this shit and not produce more loss. I spend soo much time. In the end its a big loss.
I think i am not the only one around here with similar story.
There are no new buyers, i see no reason why the prices can rise in future.
The only thing  you can profit from crypto is that you are on a coin that is getting pumped and you can find luckly the time to go out.
You need to have more luck on this game than playing lottery.
I still have 1K VTC that i will hold, but that´s it.

As long as goverments not ready to accept a payment systems that is out of control of them they will fight against.
We are sitting in the wrong boat in this game. They will never accept any.
Surly digital money will succeed in future, but it will be one that is completly controled by goverments or their right hands, the centralbanks.
Average Jo will not have a advantage on this, it will make them only being more glassperson than ever.

Is DRK the answer ? It´s also beeing attacked over the last days and i would not wonder if the NSA has its hand on this.
If they work out to make a 51% attack they overtake the network and that it was. FUCK GAME - i am OUT

I do understand you!

BUT have a look on the diff of LTC!
ASICs are delivered and LTC diff is over 7000 now... still rising!

Diff pump started 26. of april from 5k to 6k. Next pump on 29. of april from 6k to 7k.

And yes, its true! If you wanna gamble, just gamble with money that you wont miss on your dinnertable!

Why would you do that? You can merge mine and then throw away the VTC. Same result, right?
I'd get more MON for my hashrate, I have enough VTC. (Which isnt really profitable to mine at the moment anyway)

Man... its MERGED mining!

You won't "waste" any hashes if you mine vtc+mon... you can only win if you merge mine monocle...
you get vtc AND mon...

Encourage you guys to merged mine at p2pool nodes. There are so many supported nodes and updated information.

We need to strengthen the p2pool for VTC and MON.

+1

Vert p2p is time tested...be patient...give it 24 hours to account for variance. Ping each node to see which is closest to minimize latency and have at it.

Diggin the MON... Smiley

No need to ping anymore. Use combined scanner which automatically sorted by latency.
http://coin.cubeconnex.com/poollist/

Take note that "Merged mine" is not accurately display all merged mining enabled nodes.
Open scanner and see the fronpage of it see whether node operators announced the merged mining.

Well for me it seems, the "scanner" is doing a nice guess, nothing more, sorry.
If i'm using the "scanner" it will find my own p2pool with a latency of over 350+ msec and my p2pool is in the basement...

What should I do ? I could give 5 vtc for help

i'm just using the pure qt.exe with wine for my wallet.
try:
Code:
sudo apt-get install winetricks
and download the qt.exe.
it should start start a wine-desktop if you are clicking on your qt exe.

Ok, just for the noobs like me:

finally it works!

i have a ubuntu 14.04 LTS running on an old sys (athlon x2 2ghz, 4gb ram, 20gb hdd) and installed it following this howto as a p2pool node.

http://coingolem.com/how-to-setup-your-own-p2pool-node-144/

tip one: read it without touching your wannabe-node from top to bottom!

tip two: follow the white rabbit instructions! (vertcoind --daemon takes some time!)

after installing the vertcoind and p2pool software i installed the monocled, edited the /home/*your_name*/.monocle/monocle.conf and started monocled --daemon.

after i installed all, i was searching for some data... is this thing running? only info i got was for the p2pool_run... showing me some data about vtc.

i pointed my 2 rigs (~1.1mh/s together) to my node and checked if they are shown in my browser pointed to my p2pool node (for me: 192.168.0.109:9171) and waited... and waited... and spamed the forum here... and waited, getting bored, waited some more... falling asleep!
this morning i checked with
Code:
monocled listtransactions
and see what i found!

Code:
[
    {
        "account" : "",
        "address" : "M8qqY2r9RBnVnk2WaQBmcvpm6KFUVzkY6v",
        "category" : "immature",
        "amount" : 8.04000000,

        "timereceived" : 1399100608

]
OK... to say it clear and without any chance of misunderstanding:

If you setup your own (private) p2pool node you will mining monocle solo!

so here comes the jedi academy pro tip:
be patience young padawan!

ps: i'll write a howto/summary for seting up a p2pool (private) node after my shopping and household stuff...

I think the most confusing thing is you can not check your hashes/earnings on the mon network in any form.

i can not check my own p2pool node mon-hashes / earnings: always says 0.00000
if i check my p2pool_run it says something about vtc earnings roundabout but nothing about mon...

dont get me wrong: its a really heavy ball you are playing there with a merged coin and all!

but a "real" p2pool release for mon would have been better.
at least for the n00bs of us Smiley

I mean: join a proxy pool who stores my vtc and mon coins in his own address and i can not check how many i made...

Use commands below to check. More nicer features will come:

monocled listaccounts

monocled listtransactions

first: 0.000000
second: empty bracets
-.-

Quote

that would be nice! something to see share-rate/hashes, approx. earnings...

Smiley

btw: im running now for weeks on a p2pool, i know it takes some time to build up my shares.

but theres no mon-pool near my location: if im scanning just ora/red pings... Sad
