experts only.

for the best answer, I can offer you *no* merit.

With current situation of cryptomarket, i suggest that to buy bitcoin at the moment if you are willing to buy crypto.

But always remember this tips

1. Do not trust crypto Influencers on social media
2. Do not invest on hyped coins
3. Always trust your own intuition
4. Do not fall for scams.

Hello, I got one wallet.dat containing 3.5BTC and the password is 4 to 8 digits numbers and letters only, pretty easy one.
If it's pretty easy one why you're unable to open the wallet ?

Am giving the wallet.dat for free and if the password finder is ethical send me whatever it thinks is right
People don't give wallets holding BTC3.5 for free you're hiding details.

I have a cheap 2 core laptop as my driver so am not able to even to try to find it, but as I mentioned above, it is only 4 to 8 digits password. there is good odds to be only numbers, that is all I know about the password.
Have fun and if you find share with us the experience and dont forget my tip.
I don't believe your excuse for being unable to crack with brute forces. Wallet cracking services exist. You aren't giving BTC3.5 to anonymous people expecting a tip. It isn't your wallet.

Well i managed to download it few days ago and loaded it in bitcoin core and it seems normal wallet.dat file. the address with balance is, 1NUW3z5z6cNs8Ltd2cN2BnxP92dySdcuG8

https://imgur.com/a/fbDdLrB

I tried to search the address and it lead me to this site: https://allprivatekeys.com/wallet/3.53BTC
I think OP bought this wallet on that site and got tired to brute force it so that's why he gave it away the wallet.dat

I didn't know that wallet.dat file with lost passwords can be sold lol..

I suggest that you should cancel the transaction and run away fast as you can. that alone was major red flag that he was a potential scammer. if you still want to transact him, use an escrow for a safe transaction. anyway this is my tip for you be safe out there and trust no one especially on the internet

Re: Is the IQ test really necessary?
by

I do not have an issue with the IQ test. This will remove a lot of active bots from the forum and also it will improve the level of posting. There are many who create unnecessary topics and post irrelevant answers that only increase the spam level. IQ test will stop those activities. I would say it is a great initiative by Theymos on 1st April.
I think this will make the bitcointalk forum more informative and interesting. Not only you will be good in creating quality post, but those trivia questions will make you even smarter every time your answer is correct.

Spamming in the forum has become more rampant and this initiative made by Theymos is a good step to prevent the members from posting unnecessary posts, and posts that are only low valued and unconstructive.
but if the iq test which was carried out on April 1 yesterday, it continued. then what about the fate of the seniors in this forum who for example have been inactive until the time limit for calculating the iq test in which everyone whose iq is less than 120 will be banned. then of course many accounts will be blocked. even though there are a lot of seniors and legends who are not active while they are really busy in the real world. like many famous coin developers who have accounts on this forum and I see they are inactive even in years. Surely they will be affected because their IQ will remain 100 and be below 120.

but I agree that this iq test makes writers more insightful because they like to learn every time they post or edit their posts.
the only problem is the time limit in a week which is less than 120 will be banned. that is it. because every question will be posted is very interesting.

Get on with it... the IQ test april fools prank is already over. please lock this thread already before it will get de railed and turn into spam megathread.

Re: [Megathread] The long-known PoW vs. PoS debate
by

This is why POW is superior than POS. This shows POS blockchains has a dangerous flaw, the validators are vulnerable to attacks like this. This is impossible to happen in POW blockchains.
I don't believe PoS was the issue here, but that it was simply a bug in their smart contract. However, the shocking part is them wanting to reimburse stolen funds.
This automatically shows they're able to print tokens if needed, which means they have total uncontested control over coin issuance and also shows their willingness to devalue all (bag)holders' portfolios due to a mistake in their own code. Why would anyone ever invest into this crap again after seeing what the team is willing and able to do just like that?

That is something that we can't control now. if the investors still trust on the company they will not leave.

Back to the topic, the hacker managed to gain access to 5 out 9 validator nodes and used that nodes to validate fake withdrawals to bridge draining the funds. Now, the reason why i see this is a dangerous flaw to POS blockchains is because POS uses majority vote system to validate a transaction block now if the hacker manages to get access to majority of validator nodes theoretically, this would bring the whole blockchain down theoretically. Of course the developers will ramp up the security of their cryptocurrencies but the recent hack shows this is possible.

Community Alert: Ronin Validators Compromised

There has been a security breach on the Ronin Network. On March 23rd, Sky Mavis’s Ronin validator nodes and Axie DAO validator nodes were compromised resulting in 173,600 Ethereum and 25.5M USDC being drained from the Ronin bridge in two transactions (1 and 2). The attacker used hacked private keys in order to forge fake withdrawals. We discovered the attack this morning after a report from a user being unable to withdraw 5k ETH from the bridge.

Sky Mavis is here for the long term and will continue to build.

Key Points
• The Ronin bridge has been exploited for 173,600 Ethereum and 25.5M USDC.
• The Ronin bridge and Katana Dex have been halted until we are sure that the network is safe to resume activity.
• We are working with law enforcement officials, forensic cryptographers, and our investors to make sure all funds are recovered or reimbursed. All of the AXS, RON, and SLP on Ronin are safe right now.

This is the announcement from Skymavis from a recent $500+ million hack in ronin sidechain that made headlines recently.

This is why POW is superior than POS. This shows POS blockchains has dangerous flaw, the validators are vulnerable to attacks like this. This is impossible to happen in POW blockchains.
