Re: hoarding bitcoins
by
Killua

Hi Ribuck,

like I said before, there is a big difference between buying an electronic device like a TV.
Lets just say you bought a TV last year (2013)with bit coins. The TV was worth $1,000 and you paid in bitcoins. This year 2014 the value of bitcoins has increased that much that if you did not purchase your TV, you would now be sitting on a fortune and be very rich.

Now lets just say you bought a TV with normal dollars, sure there will be a newer model next year  which will be better thank your old one and maybe the same price. But you can sell your last years TV and get the new one. you are not really taking a big risk. But with spending your bit coins you are taking the risk that your coins will be worth an enormous amount more in a years time.
Comparing not spending your bitcoins to waiting till next year to buy your TV is not relative at all.
Do you understand my point about the possibility of todays bitcoins being worth much more tomorrow and by spending them you could be losing out.

And what if it went down? It's a gamble either way. Let a person spend when they want. Also to answer your question if everyone held onto their bit coins and didn't sell or trade them then they would become worthless at that point. It would be seen as no more bitcoins are being produced because there are no transaction to be filled releasing any new coins. You can trade 1 Bitcoin off and 25 more drops right now when the transaction is actually completely finished. So I got rid of a bit coin now there are 25 more in existence. The pool dries up with no transactions. Things have value because we perceive it to have value. Think of gold right now. Would you buy stocks of gold? Does gold have any real value or is it just a pretty mineral? The truth is gold like bitcoins or any form of money doesn't exist it is only perceived to be worth something. If every person on the planet decided to not buy any more gold and just hold their stocks of gold for a year and no gold is produced that year? Would the value of gold go up or would drop tremendously in points? It drops big time. There are two ways to totally kill off the value of something. 1) Everyone holds onto it for a long period of time. No one can buy stock either because no one is selling it because no one is getting rid of it remember. 2)  A mass amount of people sell off at once.  For instance you don't have to worry about the 51% thing ever happening because if someone controlled the majority of the bitcoin which is what would happen and that is the reason of the talk about 51% then it no longer becomes free or open anymore as someone has taken it over and the market collapses so the person just took their billions and burnt it because they might have given everyone else a hit but they also took a huge hit and no one is going to take a 12billion dollar loss on purpose. So if someone gets close to about 45% they sell off about 5% now that 5% alone is such a huge sell that yeah they just made a huge chunk of change but that was a lot of people selling stock right there so the market value of bit coin dropped about 10 points or 45 dollars if you will. Now as spending goes back to normal there are a lot fewer bitcoins to be made now because so many coins dropped and were mined to complete that transaction that value did go up after everything leveled back off that it went up 14% in value and they made even more money by making their 40% more valuable than their 45% of the market they had.

I much prefer the r9 290x but for what you are getting versus what you pay for the no x r9 290 is the best buy, but if I was to have a r9 280x I would probably get the MATRIX-R9280X-P-3GD5

Ok not looking for exactly right now as my money is going towards other things and a few investments but also plan on selling my sig out and might save up to turn sig money into rent money but that's really neither here nor there and I'll get to the point. Does 1,00 LTC mean 1 Litecoin the comma confuses me a bit, and if so is that for renting the entire thing. I would also like to know if I was wanting to switch mining one coin to another how often would I be able to switch? I'd like to get all the possibilities out of the way. You also said that you would be willing to give a deal for longer period rentals. I know that makes since because you get guaranteed capital upfront of a bigger change and can use that for reinvesting for more rental rigs, but I was thinking when I do for renting the bigger one for a month what kind of deal would you be prepared to give me?

Ok what about if a user that I referred bets .00000100 BTC 10 times, will I get .00000001 BTC in referrals?  Otherwise it's going to be impossible for the tournament to get referral BTC.

No, we don't charge any fees at all for wagers below .0001 btc.  We want people to play micro-limits for fun, and for free.
It's pretty easy to play bigger games on the site.  I'm actually a bit surprised we don't have anyone winning 20 btc games, yet.  Perhaps not everyone understands TestNet.

If you want more coins, there are a number of TestNet faucets that give out free TestNet btc.  Go check out
http://faucet.xeno-genesis.com/
or
http://tpfaucet.appspot.com/

Thanks,
MooCoin

How do faucets really work? Are they actual "capital" coins or is like monopoly money. It might look nice to have 500 but no store will ever break the $500 for a candy bar much less let you buy the candy bar?

Best of luck to you, but I really wouldn't be mining just yet with an old gpu as you are more than likely losing money when you add in the amount of electrical cost with mining. If you don't have the money right now that isn't going to help you get the money. My advice is to stop mining until you can turn a profit, but you have the right idea by script mining as it is a little more lucrative for a longer term than SHA-256 is currently.

I'm curious where your assumptions come from. I would be a bad captain to mislead my crew to a new crypto currency.

Actually I'm thinking the digital currency stuff needs more possibilities for trading real items to get stable. As long as its mostly used for speculation and hoarding one can't trust these coins.

I think you would be wrong about not being able to trust the coins because if that was so starting a business receiving these coins would be pointless by your own statement. I do have a creative mind but other than that I think I'll walk the plank capn.

Well it is really a tough thing to say because we typically measure over here the value of gold by the ounce and if that is what you are doing than bitcoin far surpasses that of gold since bitcoin is measured by the full coin itself. Now ask me which I would rather have is another story. I'd rather have the gold because it is and has always been seen as precious metal and is a physical thing I can touch, whereas bitcoins are digital. I don't think you can kind of compare it that relation either. I think a better way to saying it would be bitcoin is the gold of cryptocoin world.

What you need to do is have one new topic/new thread and one post made. But they must be relative to the topic and consists of several sentences to make sure that you aren't  spam bot. It also tells you to give it 4 hours. I know with mine though I wasn't a "newbie" after about 2 hours.

Re: For Individuals looking to get into the Mining Game in 2014, please read this!

Killua

The thing I find a problem with this is it's simply false. It's all about what you decide to do with the coinage that you mine. If you think profit isn't profit no matter the size of profit than you are dead wrong. For example if I said I would give you a free penny would you take it or think it's freaking one cent what good will it do me? Now take that penny of profit and 8 million people all giving you a free penny now those pennies add up. It's all about what you decide to do with the currency you gain from mining. If you want to invest into buying crypto currency because you think the price of it is going to go high at a certain point you have a much better shot at mining and saving the coins from mining it as long as you are mining above the cost of electricity because you are going to be getting more than your investment back and can continue to get a few. If you want to start a few business ventures it would be safe to mine a bit or have continual mining operation of profit to covers potential losses in the early goings of a business venture of crypto. So calling mining dead is really the same thing as saying that crypto currency is dying out. How is it worth anything to begin with? You need mining to keep it active as they have to complete the answer of the code for every transaction of that particular crypto coin. So the more any currency is used the more chances if you are mining that currency to complete that transaction and score a few coins. So if you don't think mining is a sound investment than it would be the same as saying the entire system is a bad idea. You have to know that it isn't dead and I'll prove it. You said you don't care if you are losing money because you care about the technology and you would rather lose money than let certain companies or pool get it. If that's true than you are either A) stupid or B) lying. If you have a family owned pizza parlor in small town but some big conglomerate pizza company comes in and making a pizza at $3.12 when it takes $3.11 to make a pizza at the cost of toppings, oven, and employee so you drop your price to $3.10 and lose money everytime someone orders something because you are going to show them by going broke? You have a dog but there is a new landlord and in order to keep your dog you have to pay an extra $500 a month and let's say only have an additional $300 a month with your current expenses which is $200 less and you checked and there are no additional places. Are you going to go in debt $200 every month until your kicked out or going to find a good home for your dog? You're going to find a good home right? Pizza scenario you're going to hope the community loves you and spends a bit more or close up shop before forced to file bankruptcy right? So which is it do you know there is value there and lying about the there not being value there or are you stupid and going to lose money knowing you are losing it?

You're welcome. Yeah I'm a computer guy and currently studying to get some certs but I'm studying more for inter security and networking instead of coding and developing, otherwise I'd be very much into coding a game for you guys especially since your post says that the developer would get a little upfront fee and a small amount of profits that, that, game brings to the site. Anyone who knows about money there is no greater kind than that which is continual income. Speaking of income I've been looking and even though I've been in the forums for a day checking here and there I have noticed that plenty of companies mainly gambling companies are paying fees to have people "pimp" out their sigs for them either straight monthly fee or by number of posts a month; is this something you guys are currently doing or plan on doing eventually?

Sorry but I don't quite understand what you mean by this.

Re: [w] HELP WITH OVERCLOCKING 38GHS CUBES
by
Killua
on 15/01/2014, 04:06:58 UTC
What it sounds like to me is either you have too many cubes for the wattage that your place will allow in a single room sending an over surge of power back through knocking it out like how lightning can over power and surge through lines frying equipment this can also occur if you have too much power which can burn a breaker fuse, start a fire, and or send power back to your system and blow it. The only other thing that could cause it is try upping the power supply with a 600w or 850 power supply. You have to remember typically with pc power supplies the watt that it says the power supply can handle usually can really only handle about 80% of that power. I hope that helps you. Sorry about the few different options to find out. Typically if you have a small space heater try unhooking all the cubes as most small space heaters are about 1500 watts and if that space heater doesn't kick off in about 10-30 minutes unplug it and you know that the room will support about 5 cubes which is close to a half a dozen and then try and see if it will run 5 of them without doing. If so then you know that was the problem relocate the others in a different room and use more than one running. If it still kicks off then you know you need to upgrade to a better power supply.

Hmm with being new at this I might need a little bit more time to study some results and would need to know if I would be allowed to change it daily, hourly, aka how often I could change but I doubt I would go over 13 LTC for it. As far as buying it would save me time building it myself but at the price of 15 BTC is pretty outrageous and unrealistic because I think if anyone had 15 BTC they wouldn't be buying as they could buy and build it a lot cheaper than that not to mention they could instead get a 7.5 THasher for that and make their money back in about 9 days mining BTC with that.

Yes the Doge is strong. Today was a good day for the Doge. By this I mean mining wise. I would suggest mining Doge and then trading the Doge in for LTC.
