I bought a new domain for my LN node btw -- pleb.channel. At the moment, it's redirecting to my old meme url goblin-no.de, but whenever I have some time, I might do something useful with it. Ideas are welcome.

Another month is coming to an end in the Lightning realm.

This month has been something else. I've never experienced anything like it during my 3 years of running a routing node.

May 14th was particularly crazy. I routed ~7 btc on that day, with about 5 btc alone on my channel with LOOP. I have a 1 btc channel with them, and it kept getting drained at ~3500-4000 ppm, while I was able to rebalance the channel at about 2500-3000 ppm. Here is an example from my telegram bot (all these forwards happened instantaneously).
Quote
💰 Forwarded 0.12192240 Kraken 🐙⚡️ → LOOP. Earned 0.00043806 0.36% (3593)
💰 Forwarded 0.24334431 bfx-lnd0 → LOOP. Earned 0.00087432 0.36% (3593)
💰 Forwarded 0.24384481 LNBϟG [Edge-2] → LOOP. Earned 0.00087612 0.36% (3593)

Before the day was over, I was over 1M sats in profit. Looking at my node's previous performance, I made about 3 months profit in one day.

The traffic slowed down somewhat after that, but this month has still been out of the ordinary. The APY this month on the btc I've tied up on my node is 6%. That's pretty wild. Here are my statistics for the past month.

Let's break down the numbers. During the last 30 days, I've routed ~50 btc. My revenue is 0.12 btc and I've paied 0.089 btc in rebalancing my channels, making a profit of 0.031 btc.

However, during all my years of routing, the APY is on a more moderate level of 0.6%.

This happens when you treat allies as enemies.

Source.

Anything, like anything, no matter how small, to humiliate this criminal, narcissistic, senile, moron fascist, who somehow, in a this weird reality, got voted in as POTUS, because appallingly ignorant majority of USA population, is a plus.

You seem mad.  If America having an America first President bothers you, then you are either a brainwashed liberal who doesn't know what gender they are, or you live in a country that has become way too comfortable being supported by Americans and the idea you can't grift off our wealth anymore sends you into a rage.  Either way, America doesn't care.  Trump got what we needed from Ukraine as far as a minerals deal.  This deal was most likely just Greenland using America's interest to score a generous deal at the hands of an already stretched European taxpayer.

Again, Trump wins.  His haters weaken themselves, and liberals declare victory.  I think some people would read The Art Of The Deal and still not be able to negotiate free water at a restaurant.

Relax, this is a bitcoin forum. Fuck politics. We're all winners here.

Our new vacation home is taking shape.

It's amazing what 0.5 btc will give you, considering what I paid for it back in the days.

Now it may sound cheap, but a decade from now, the same amount will probably be enough for a big mansion.

So, another half Bitcoin and you will have actual doors, windows, heating, electricity and flooring?
Not bad at all  Tongue Wink Grin

That's the final cost actually, including windows, AC, flooring and what not.

This is Thailand, so material and labor is very cheap compared to any western country.

Yeah, i was only joking. I thought the Emojis did emphasize this.
Really cheap. Is Thailand still safe, i mean a little more off big cities and/or touristic villages?
I always considered putting something up there, too, but i heard so many contrasting things.

Sorry, I'm a bit of a retard when it comes to understanding emojis and all that.

Thailand has been my 2nd home for the past 8 years. We have an apartment in Bangkok as well. During all my years there, I have never felt unsafe walking alone late at night. I feel much safer there than I do in my home country (Sweden).

The traffic on the other hand, that's where I should be worried. The risk of getting in a traffic accident is like 10x higher than my home country. My brother-in-law nearly got killed a couple of years ago when he was rammed by a car while he was driving his motorbike.

Regarding the Arizona bill, Governor Hobbs is known to veto most of the bills, let's not get our hopes up there.

Nvidia is new to me, do you have any sources?

The US selling gold to buy bitcoin -- I believe it when I see it.

Hobbs is an incompetent idiot, but she won’t alienate Bitcoiners by vetoing this bill. It’ll pass automatically on Monday. That’s what I’m expecting.

The Nvidia rumor is all over X. If there is no truth to it, they got a lot of folks to repeat it.

The rumor I’m reading is that the United States will revalue their gold to current prices giving them a $900 billion dollar increase on their books, which they will use to sell off $100 billion and invest in Bitcoin. I think the old multiple of an investment’s effect on market cap is 15? If so, this sends us to $170K this year by itself. Add in $10 billion in short covering, $50 billion in buying from Strategy, potentially $100 billion from other large companies, billions from other governments, retail, banks… You can see the path to $444K beginning to materialize. You crazy bastards are going to get rich!

Thanks for your insight. I've read up on the Nvidia rumors, that's huge if true. The US, even bigger. Interesting times.

So Nvidia is buying Bitcoin for its balance sheet and the United States is selling gold to buy Bitcoin. Arizona will create a strategic Bitcoin reserve in the next few days to start stacking Bitcoin, we’re 5% away from liquidating 8 billion dollars worth of shorts and GameStop is still accumulating their Bitcoin purchase. Sounds bullish.

Wait, what. This is extremely bullish.

Regarding the Arizona bill, Governor Hobbs is known to veto most of the bills, let's not get our hopes up there.

GameStop I agree with you, Ryan Cohen has been hinting this a long time.

I also can't believe that I'm seriously considering switching to Knots. Considering the goofy number of nodes that I run, it's going to be a pain in the ass.

the luke-jr version?

i can see this may cost me a rabbit hole or two to figure out.

Yes, that version.

I used to run a knots node a couple of years back, but I switched back to core later. A bit worrisome running a node which code is only maintained by one(?) guy..

I'm a bit out of the loop, but I've seen this discussion taking up some of my X feed lately. I need to read up what this is all about.

The past few weeks in the LN space have been out of the ordinary, the forwards have been on steroids. Here are a few examples from the past couple of days

Quote
💰 Forwarded 0.20000000 bfx-lnd1 → fixedfloat.com. Earned 0.00055900 0.28% (2795)

Quote
💰 Forwarded 0.33503586 Kraken 🐙⚡️ → LOOP. Earned 0.00117028 0.35% (3493)

I'm over 1M sats in profits in the past 30 days, f*cking crazy.

No details on "advanced social engineering" in the article, which was what i mainly was interested in.

Yeah...speculating...an email from from supposed "coinbase support" or "ledger support", perhaps.
Albeit, this is not "advanced".
Advanced probably would be someone impersonating a third party where victim wanted to contribute his coins (like an investment fund, etc.) or something like this.
A cautionary tale.
