Do you think this coin will get on a proper exchange? Been mining since the beginning.... one of my favorite alts so far

Define proper exchange Smiley

The coin will be on scificoin exchange.  They have told us 21st for beta testing and about 1 week after for full launch.  I have seen a preview and it looks nice.  I'm not cleaver enough to know how well coded it is but I do know that it looks the part.

So you will all be able to sell/buy these coins before October (I hope).

Didn't see it asked nor mentioned.... was this coin premined or not?

Not premined not a single block!  I was the one of the guys behind it and I mined the first block! As soon as I saw that it was working we posted in the forum.

But Kryten is running the DPS foundation now.

Please provide proof.

Proof of what ?

The proof is in the blockchain Smiley  You are welcome to take a look.

first block mined 3 mins before this thread was started.

Total beginners guide to pool mining Red Dwarf tribute coin DollarPounds
by
Kryten

Here is a total beginners guide to pool mining Red Dwarf tribute coin DollarPounds.

DollarPounds are what is know as a Scrypt based cryptocurrency and are mined in the same way as Litecoin. If that has stumped you already don't worry read on....

First sign up for an account at a pool.  Currently our only pool is at http://miningpool.co  (more on the way)

After you have signed up click dashboard and scroll down to the DollarPound section.  Then click on the Manage Workers button,  where it says “Worker Label Extension” put anything here and then click “Add Worker”.

You've now created a new worker. The worker will be called (YourPoolUsername.WorkerLabelExtension) for example my username is Kryten and I have worker 1.  so my worker username is “Kryten.1”  be careful as some pools only accept shares if the worker username is 100% correct and this is CaSe sensitive.  Just make sure what ever you called it you have made a note of this worker username and password.  The default worker password at miningpool.co is simply x.

With me so far? Good.. I shall continue!

You will need 1 worker for each computer you have running (regardless of how many graphics cards you have in the machine).  For the guide we will use the worker example “user.1”

You will need a decent GPU to mine it. Nvidia cards work but I personally would not bother unless you have a decent ATI/amd card that is fairly beefy (mid to high range) from the HD5XXX HD6XXX or the most recent HD7XXX series. Anything from a HD5770 upwards will make you a fair few coins. make sure you have installed the latest beta drivers from AMD and find the SDK drivers that are also available there.

SDK for 32bit machines. (vista, Windows 7 and Windows Cool http://developer.amd.com/amd-license-agreement/?f=AMD-APP-SDK-v2.8.1.0-Windows-32.zip
SDK for 64bit machines. (vista, Windows 7 and Windows Cool http://developer.amd.com/amd-license-agreement/?f=AMD-APP-SDK-v2.8.1.0-Windows-64.zip
Latest beta driver 32/64bit Vista, W7 & W8 http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst13-8WINBetaDriver.aspx

now that your divers are sorted and you have signed up for a pool, you will need to choose a mining program.  Most newbies will often go for a GUI miner or one with a graphical user interface.  While this may be easier to grasp at first for a beginner,  you will probably encounter less issues by using CGMINER.   Most people will agree on this.....  That once you get over the command line interface you will have less problems going forward in my opinion.

OK so I will show you how easy CGminer really is... but first download the software.

You can download the latest version here
http://ck.kolivas.org/apps/cgminer/

and the official thread is here.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=28402.msg2978868#msg2978868

Ok so now you have downloaded cgminer, create a new folder called anything, and extract the files there. Then before you run it you need to make a batch file so that cgminer works with scrypt type coins.

Batch files are the simplest files to make, so if you have never made one before,  don't stress, it's simple.  To make a batch file open up notepad and write or copy/paste the following text.
Code:
color 65
setx GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT 100
setx GPU_USE_SYNC_OBJECTS 1
cgminer.exe --scrypt -o http://miningpool.co:9701 -u user.1 -p x

You will need to replace user.1 with the username for your worker. And replace the password “x” (if it's different).  By default the password will be x so you probably will not need to change it.

When you have written the file and altered it, save it but call it for example “mine.bat”.  Before you click save make sure you have clicked the drop down menu “save as type” and choose “all files”.

You want to save this as “mine.bat” not “mine.txt” or “mine.bat.txt”.  When you have done that move the batch file to the folder where you extracted Cgminer.  And double click it.

You should get the following screen.  The color is blue on red,  you can change this buy changing the 2 digit number in the batch file.

Each accepted share is the pool confirming your contribution. Not all shares are paid but in most cases approx 95% will be valid.  After it's been running for an hour or so, check back at your pool and see your stats.

Good Luck and hope to see some new Red Dwarf fans mining.

Received !  Thank you Smiley  How is the pool going ?  I was mining away for a while, but having latency issues, so trying solo for a while.

we now have 335.193634 DPS.  If we get to 750 i will add another 250.

We are getting there slowly.  I will get the source-code on Git tomorrow.  and then will be actively perusing Cryptsy and other exchanges to see where we stand.  we have been at almost 80MHs before, and im sure we will again in a few days.  Just need to raise some awareness.

Ok so it looks like no one is interested in giving any DollarPounds back so we have 268DPS.

If you don't want to donate that is fine.  But there are people mining!  Please can we start at least being more active on the forums!

I will start to try to lobby exchanges! If we get support from any exchange we all know this coin could fly!   So DPS miners Please start to be more active.

Jonoiv the guy who's idea DPS was, is busy with other things at the moment, & does not have the time to invest in crypto or DPS right now. The domains the forum etc. are now my responsibility and everything has been passed over.

I have been in charge of the official forum (not that it's popular Cheesy) and now I have been tasked with a fundraiser to take DPS to the next level, add checkpoints,  fix the bug with the logo size in the wallet. + ideas that others may have.

I have been mining DPS for a while now @ miningpool.co

I can not do this alone.  So to get us started I have sent 250 (25 blocks) to the foundation.  There has not been any donations so far so this was the first. The donation address on the website is still valid as I have the wallet.dat file for the foundation so donations will come to me.

So all donations will come to me now not jonoiv.  No pre-mine, apart from the first block with DPS.

so that is where we are at the moment.  250 DPS donated by me.  I will keep my coins from mining completely separate from the foundation with is on a different wallet.

http://dollarpounds.org/index.html.
LeVRJtZLWW5VfhxL1rP46PccVNFixduVQY.

So Please all give what you can afford and get mining!  I do not want to see DPS fail...  No-one wants this!

No body is helping newbies to talk with them in detail!!!

i want a one person only who have access knowledge about bitcoind and jsonrpcclient!!!

If you want someone to teach you for free! then you are in the wrong place.

If you want someone who fully understands how to use json and or PHP and MySQL and how to make it interact with the daemon, you either have to get studying or you need to PAY someone.  Why should someone waste their time helping someone who clearly is not that helpful themselves (referring to the thread title and opening post)

If you do not have the or intelligence to learn and/or you don't have the money to pay someone then you need to become a longstanding member of the forum and you need to build relationships with other members before asking for help.
