Re: The future of cryptocurrency 2018-2021

I think well see rapid swings in coins. Some coins will appear, rise to 100M-1B market cap, and fall off within a few months to never be heard from again. On top of that, well see people get bored of cryptos, those who came in only looking for a quick buck. I would predict by the end of 2018, bitcoin will be considered an alt coin.

People seem to dislike Bitcoin falling. It seems like when BTC falls, everyone second guessed alts also. As some alts grown in size, we should see less of a swing but you never know.

Can't wait to pay my $40 transaction fee, wait a hour, all to get my $5 worth of food! Guess Bitcoin isn't to useful here. For bitcoin to survive, it needs to scale within a few months.

$120 USD by the end of 2018 easily, if not more.. Despite the issues recently, it has a solid roadmap

$320B market cap? By the end of next year? Interesting.

I wouldn't. Pull up coinmarketcap and look at the total crypto chart. First look at 1 month, then 1 year. The market cap is up 500 B since around August, do you really think 500B of FIAT flowed into crypto? I don't. This is pure speculation. Be patient and be smart.

I was intrigued when I saw the ICO going on. I was going to wait until the ICO finished and look into it more than. The only issue, was somebody pointed out, it was in a Tether situation. How do you truly know they have the assets backing their coin. If you buy $100 worth, how do you now they will be storing your $100 worth in the top 30 coins? Seems like a risk.

At the moment, I would spend all your time researching and know how much and what coins. Then set some goals of what you think those coins are worth, and be patient. The market is at an all time high and if you want to invest now, make sure you spread out buys over a longer period of time,

This is interesting. Personally, if he thought litecoin was going to keep growing, he would avoid give up the tweeting. Seem like his bet is a correction or LTC falling.

Re: 5 alt coins to hodl in 2018

Now it's good time to jump into altcoins for next year. There are many good buying opportunities.
Top 5 in my opinion:

- Litecoin: Cross-chain atomic swaps can occur off-chain instantly with heterogeneous blockchain consensus rules. So long as the chains can support the same cryptographic hash function, it is possible to make transactions across blockchains without trust in 3rd party custodians.

- Ark: I think it's undervalued, it will explode.

- Waves: Waves NG protocol is very good. Waves will increase the price x20 in 2018 because of smart contracts.

- Electroneum: the mobile mining approach might be mainly for publicity (it's not a real mining), but publicity is exactly what crypto currency needs.

- NXT: there is a good airdrop on Dec 28th, you will receive 0.5 IGNIS for every NXT.

I've been interested in Ark, my only question is, if atomic swaps become more common, will we still need ark?

Take into consideration the market is extremely high and could see a correction soon. Spreading out the buying over a month should help negate the risk in it.

I agree XSPEC/Spectre is the most undervalued crypto out of all of them.  The price is insanely low.  Get in while you can.  In terms of privacy there is none better than Spectre.

I'll admit I haven't done enough research on Spectre, but every time I see a thread like this there are tons of people hyping it up, all while having low post count. Makes me wonder.

I will be keeping a close eye on ARK, XMR, and IOTA. Also smaller cap coins as they come around, but I try to avoid those.

I would stick to the larger cap coins. Even then though, you must monitor them very frequently. Coins come and go all the time, you have to stay up to speed on the latest tech, hype, etc.

Re: Litecoin or Monero

Both are respectable coins with solid history, development, and brand recognition. They both focus on two different objectives at the moment.

Don't let the privacy aspect of Monero turn you away. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting a private coin. Why should your bank get to monitor and record data on every purchase you make? Imagine 100 years ago if someone told everyone that in the future every single thing they purchase would get to be recorded and sold to advertisers. People wouldn't accept that, neither should people today.

I would say XSPEC i.e. spectrecoin which is an advanced privacy coin. Currently trading around 50 cents but can potentially rise up there alongside monero. The privacy features are better but the marketing is worse. Eventually when the website is revamped etc.. it will rise - alot!

Don't under estimate what an established name can do though, just look at Bitcoin. Does Bitcoin have the best tech? No, but they have respect and a history. Look at the gain Monero saw yesterday, that wasn't due to technology, it was due to adoption in the music industry. Spectrecoin is interesting but it feels to be shilled very hard on these forums.

My top 3 favorite alt coin-
1.Ethereum-this is great coin & fully changed my life.ETH is always blessed in my whole life.
2.Waves-such a amazing coin.Development is very strong.
3.MinexCoin-Just checked in one week volume 300% raising.

I was interested in MinexCoin until I saw the volume. You have a coin traded on very few exchanges with a market cap of 200m and a volume of 1m? Seems concerning.

The price if very easy to manipulate it's on Bitfinex, and has no transaction cost. Understand wash trading.

I'm curious, will further regulations help stop this. Or due to cryptocurrenies global reach will local governments only be able to do so much?

I'd like to see further regulation to help avoid this type of market manipulation.

If we continue to have these fees and long transactions times, I think bitcoin wont stay #1 for long.

I've found myself questioning this exactly. It seems like people use other coins to actually spend, leaving bitcoin's use to a wealth storage tool. I think bitcoin will need some updates soon.

Re: Is this Bitcoin run sustainable?

I don't believe so. I can't imagine there will not be a significant pull back coming. Lots of people are investing with no intention to use or might not even know how to use it. They hear bitcoin and instantly think free money. Unlike gold, which will always have a set amount obtainable, bitcoin could be worth nothing in 100 years.

That is not to say bitcoin will not continue to grow, I just see a correction coming.
