Re: Thoughts about Bytecoin?

The problem is that allegedely 80% of Bytecoin was premined by its creator, so it may be extremely centralized. Aslo, Monero is basically a fork of Bytecoin.

That's the thing, everybody always talk about the "premine", but as I understand it, it is very hard to actually provide concrete proof that it happened. I've read the evidence out there and the thread that exists here on Bytecointalk but it just seems like a bunch of Monero fan boys who want to shit talk Bytecoin because he competition to their favorite coin is automatically the devil. Again, that could just be my opinion but that's the way all of the discussion look to me.

It have many cons, as you said the dubious start, it's huge supply and it's irregular development.
But with monero, it's child and prime competitor changing it's algo, it leaves bytecoin as the leader in cryptonight and may increase it's value in near future.

I think the development their team has shown lately will be a big help. I just hope it continues.

But it sucks when in most places, a person even whispers their name and all anybody has to say is "scam coin" : /

Do some research, the coin has a less than stellar reputation for a reason.

that's exactly what I am talking about. People keep talking about the supposed issues in the past while completely ignoring how much better it is getting now.

What do you guys think of Bytecoin? I know the coin has a less than dubious reputation, but the team working on it has made some huge improvements lately. Do you think there is any chance for growth in the future?

From what they said in their recent AMA on Reddit their team seems pretty small so I imagine it would be a bit hard to do full scale marketing like the other bigger coins do.

What is the Crypto Community's problem with Bytecoin?
by

I think the Bytecoin Team has really made some big developments over the last 6 months, newly updated wallet, getting listed on more exchanges, community outreach, etc. but there still seems to be a lot of hate in the crypto community about this project. Is there nothing they can do to repair their negative image? It just seems like everywhere I go the second anybody mentions their name people instantly say "scam coin" without looking at the evidence. If it's such a scam coin than why do they continue to make all of these updates and work for the betterment of the project? Yeah I know they had some negative press in the past but it seems people only want to focus on that without looking at all the progress they have made.

Does anybody have any thoughts about this? I would be open to talking about it.

ByteCoin OTC exchange from Leogheo (Founder of BCN Bug Fix Bounty program). Buy BCN for Dollars!

Hello There,

My name is Leo De Jong, you may remember me as Leogheo from the bitcointalk and bytecointalk threads as the crazy one who created the Bug Fix Bounty (BFB) Donation program.

I’ve seen a lot of requests from the community who don’t like the presented exchanges and are asking where else they can buy BCN in exchange for dollars.

I would now like to announce my ByteCoin OTC exchange.

Using me as a third party you’ll be able to exchange your dollars or any other currency for BCN!

In order to trust my credibility you can look at my BFB program! I am the main person who collects donations from the community and spreads it fairly through the bug senders.

If you still don’t trust me enough we can use any other trustworthy party that you would like (For example, Escrow or Legendary member from bitcointalk)

The ByteCoin OTC exchange rates are as follows:

Buy: -3% from the Poloniex price
Sell: +3% from the Poloniex price
*The percent of commision for trading more than 5BTC should be discussed

PM me for more information

Are You Kidding Me? This is just a mean guy! I'll not surprise if this "independent" writer got a "Donations" from Monero team.

Your article is bullshit! Your logic is like "Oh, he's from North Korea cause he's wearing red socks but as you know the red is the color of North Korea flag! That's it! He's a murder!"

I was respected you before....but now...you smells like a shit!

I am surprised that people are still mining this coin. I tot it was dead long ago. Anyway, what is so good about BCN? What is the use case of BCN? Or is it just a clone of other altcoins.

Bytecoin is not either a Bitcoin clone, it's a cryptonote.

Bytecoin is the ancestor of others cryptonote altcoins

The first and the best!

We should get at least a feedback from the Poloniex about the situation with the BCN

How BCN dev are able to solve the problem if  poloniex support answers to no one. I don't think that they have a special "code" to get to the Poloniex...

That's why I urge you to try to get in touch with the poloniex support. MB we will able to unblock BCN with our own force

Rewarded will be everyone who get any feedback from the Poloniex dev about situation with  BCN.
And the special super reward for the one who unblock BCN

I agreed so, bytecoin dev friend's message to poloniex is useless for helping. Poloniex will only entertain real bytecoin dev. If dev had no will to continue it, then it is good to take over bytecoin from dev.

I was the one who was trying my best to catch poloniex attention by sending tweets and emails as bytecoin dev's friend. So who the real dev?

No one knows who is the real BCN dev.

I've tried to get to the Poloniex dev via Linkedin but I guess they have build a big Chinese wall between their users and team.

But I want to remind everyone about Poloniex bounty. For one who unblocks BCN on Poloniex or makes a huge step to it will be big reward!

The coin is certainly turbid. Time will show what happens with the coin!
----
This coin appears to be on it's deathbed. the scammer/creators have effectively killed it - why? no idea, but if you can't dump them on polo, you're basically going to be holding nothing once they delist it. The actual BCN team doesn't seem to even care, which is good IMO. Fuck this coin, let it die - its children are far better.  Grin

It seems like Polo makes its last breath! They don't answer to anybody and the trollbox was also stopped

How many people store their funds on Polo? How many of them in BCN? We should prevent delisting....

Hello everyone, could anyone help me? I can not complete the synchronization of the BCN wallet, it will not be parked at that point. I do not know what to do ... any help is welcome.  Undecided

For all those who are having loading/synching issues, I hope that you have researched the forums and found a solution.  If you have tried the following solution and are still having problems, then not sure what else can be done until the application code is fixed.

I am running Bytecoin Wallet 1.1.4 on a Windows 8.1 Pro box, Intel i7 3820 3.60/3.8, 16 gb ram, and 64 bit.  It took 3 times to go through the following steps until the wallet fully loaded, and since then I have had no problems.  I had not opened the wallet for a few days until this evening.  It went from 1300185 to 1303659 in about 11 minutes.  The original load of the blockchain took about 10 hours.  Yes, 10 hours.  But it's not like you can't do anything else while it's downloading.  Be patient.  The "DB" folder is approx 26.5 gb, so it will take some time.

These are the steps:
1) First close the wallet application if it is open.

2) Find the bytecoin folder on your box.  It should be located on your primary drive such as:
C:\Users\Jason\AppData\Roaming\bytecoin\.
AppData is a hidden folder, so you will have to view hidden items.

3) Go into the bytecoin folder and either delete or move the following out of the folder:
DB (folder)
blockindexes (file)
blocks (file)

Warning: Do not delete or move any other files.

4) Restart the bytecoin wallet.  The application will recreate the folder and 2 files.

5) The wallet will start loading the blockchain.  Give it enough time.  If it gets stuck and fails to complete, redo the above steps.  Remember it took me 3 times.

Good Luck!

P.S. This solution from one of the BCN enthusiast. Try it...
