I can confirm that Ruslan is no longer involved in wex-scam, I chatted with him few weeks ago about this.

Viva-e.com still alive. But what's the point in trading on it when my old account does not work there, my funds are still gone. If old accounts were active I would assume they are back, but the people behind this can be anybody.
There has been such a site before, think it was nowex.nz, looked the same. (pretty much like viva-e.com), but the site was gone after few months.
I see no point in getting in there.

Tried the SDD (970 EVO 1Tb) and it did make a HUGE difference. I synced the complete blockchain in two days. My 20bps internet was the next limiting factor, but two days is ok for me.

But it raises a question for me, why is syncing so hard on the HD? Blockchain is about 250G, that's only a few minutes for a SATA6 drive

Sequential reads and writes are not important. You should be more concerned about input/output operations per second (IOPS). HDDs usually reach ~75 IOPS while SATA III SSDs can go up to 120000 IOPS or more. NVMe SSDs are even better in this aspect.

So sync performance could be improved if the wallet would cluster the read/write operations. Not sure if this would be possible, I never looked at the wallet code.

When I look at the system performance it seems the HD is the bottleneck. CPU is only at 15%, RAM 3.9G/8G, Ethernet below 5%, but the HD is 100% flat.
So maybe SDD will improve sync, I will try that.

I'm writing this because I counld't find a recent topic about this.
Wallet syncing is extremly slow, I'm syncing for 3 days now and it tells me it will take another 3 days. The developers should find a solution for this, because it is ridiculous, it will prevent people of using bitcoin at all.

From 2009 to januari 2018 takes a day orso, still long, but well I can live with that. But than after this date progress drops and takes another hole week! to get the last 2 years!
Developers FIX this, this not acceptable anymore. Syncing will soon be more than a month, nobody it going to wait a month the get their wallet synced.
I'm seriously considering getting my coins out of the wallet when I'm synced and change them into another crypto, to never touch a bitcoin wallet again...

I don't think Vasilev has the keys of the wallets. Admin does, and he seems to have dissapeared form planet earth. I do think they can get Vasilev to talk, Italians know how to get people to talk...

But they were behind cloudflare, so at cloudflare they know who is wex. Why don't they tell, why do they help fraudsters hide?

But again, the people who know what has happend to btc-e/wex.nz are probably reading this too.  Why the silence, why not share it with us, what can possibly be the reason? It's so freaking weird...

Once withdrawals were turned off for an extended period of time, recovery was not possible. Volume dropped to nothing and trust was completely broken. There's no point in WEX coming back now.

They'd probably still find users willing to flock to their exchange if they resumed operations and started repaying their debts. There aren't that many KYC-less exchanges, with minimal KYC for fiat deposits/withdrawals as was the case with btc-e/wex. At one point you could even make large deposits and withdrawals in cash (I think the minimum was $50k USD for EU countries).

I do think so too. After the BTC-e debacle, WEX came back pretty strong. Many of the BTC-e user were on WEX again.
But people will not trust WEX if there is not a solid story from them why this WEX story happend as it did with no info to the users.
Also 'the stolen funds' part is not confirmed, is that what really happend? I do read that there are still hugh amounts in their cold wallets.
Last tweet from them was 'Bees against honey', who was doing that? Who are the 'bees'? Is the user database still there?

It is so weird, there is absolutly no info on the net about this case. How is that possible, there are at least some people that know what has happend, why don't tell the world?

I did a usdt deposit two weeks ago, still not credited. So I used omniexplorer to see what happend to it. But the amount is stil on the balance of the address it was deposited.
I also deposited usdt two months ago to the same address, it was transfered immediately to another address and to another address and was credited to my funds after that.
So it seems the complete system stopped working, funds don't get stolen, but they are not processed anymore. To bad you can't undo a transaction....

BTC-e update5 vertaling
by
LightningSphere
on 11/08/2017, 13:59:21 UTC

Found the petition:

https://www.change.org/p/department-of-justice-we-want-our-money-back-from-btc-e

Almost 1800 signed already!
His idea is getting BTC-e up again and maybe that's in the best interest of LE too. I think they want the people behind the laundering more than Alexander or Aleksy. So with the site back up they could monitor who is loggin in etc.
Hope they see it the same way as I do....

i hate to say this and i hope im wrong but more than likely the remaining admin just moved all the coins to a wallet he controls so he can cash them out and move to some tropical beach somewhere in peace.

I'm not sure, it would be a stupid thing to do because he will be hunted for the rest of his life. Many many people have a lot of funds there and some of them aren't the types you want hunting you.
And if this is a LE action I think they prepared it very well and I assume they got hold of all the servers and all administration at the same time, so even the other admins probably don't have the private keys anymore.
There was a strange transaction of ETH yesterday from a BTCe address I heared, but only ETH??

Blockchain transactions can't be erased, only BTC-e account info could. But if LE have the servers that is allso secured.
I hope we will hear more news in the next days...
