I managed to forget my password, and the reset doesn't seem to be sending anything. Not sure if it's my email provider or multipool - has anybody reset their password lately?

You're entering your username, right?
Yep. Gives me a notification that it was sent to the proper email address, but for some reason I'm not receiving it. I think there's just something wrong with outlook right now.

Edit: Looks like I finally received the reset email, problem solved.

Why now mining pxc, not wdc?

COINWARZ:
WDC - 287%
PXC - 218%

This is what's got me confused:

Coinwarz shows WDC at $5.86 revenue a day, LTC at $4.05 a day
Multipool.in shows WDC profitability at 2.08 and LTC profitability at 1.9

This does not scale up properly.  Who is being had?

Does coinwarz have a method of determining orphans and such? Because last I knew, the multiport takes that into account.

I can't agree with trying to slow the network down - one of the best features of litecoin is that it is secure. If somebody were to plan a 51% attack to coincide with this plan and hash rate went down enough, the reputation of litecoin would be ruined.

Hard to say if it's worth it. Right now the return on investment is quite long, which is only really going to be changed by a sharp increase in the value of a coin. You must then ask yourself: would it have been more worth it to just invest the same money in the coin in the first place?

I'd advise against 7970s if you do decide to mine, however. 7950s offer much better hash rates for the cost/power draw.

So does anyone know how many coins are going to be mined total? Is it in the tens of millions or hundreds?
Your answer is in the whitepaper; you should give it a read.

Okay, can we get instruction on how to extract coin from our DigitalOcean droplet.  It has been so long since I have had to do console/coding like this Sad.

Sure. I do it this way:

  • ssh into remote instance
  • ./primecoind listtransactions –> copy the address mentioned in the output at "address"
  • ./primecoind dumpprivkey {{paste copied address here}} –> copy the private key returned
  • on your local computer holding the "master wallet" -> ./primecoind importprivkey {{paste copied private key here}}
  • now address holding the minted coins appears in your local wallet

No need to send coins over the blockchain this way, immature coins can be imported immediately.
So does this basically merge the wallets, or do I need to worry about what I already have in the 'master wallet'?

I'm unfamiliar with bitcoind/primecoind. Is there a way to point several miners at one wallet, or am I stuck using a wallet for every separate computer?

To all of those asking for donations, mined coins won't be available for ~3000 blocks. Even if somebody wanted to be generous, they couldn't.

THIS has to be a SCAM!! Look for Viruses!!  Don't trust!!  Negative rating for sure!!  This looks fishy.. Very very risky!

Download at your own risk.

VIRUS
If only Sunny King were a reputable part of the community, perhaps an author of another cryptocurrency and helpful to other devs we could trust him!

Oh wait, he's both of those things.

so how do i mine this? which miner i have to use?

Initially it is cpu mining using the actual qt client.

So all we need to do is download and install the client from github?

Is it going to take much time to sync?
Considering the blockchain is starting today, I don't think so.

I think you are confusing forum with thread. Either that, or you make 0 sense, since you are spamming with this topic. Quite redundant
This is a post, the alt. currency section is the thread, the website is the forum.... I do accept donations for your lesson Wink
This topic is a thread; what you are referring to as a thread is in fact a board on a forum.

Why do you people waste your time with stuff like that?

If you spend all your time on improving bitcoin, that would really help.
What does a different proof of work change?
- it does not change that transactions have to be collected in a block
- it does not change that you have to wait for x confirmations
- it does not change that blocks have to broadcasted
- it does not change .. anything

Traditional PoW methods are quite wasteful of our energy resources. We need a solution that either reduces energy consumption massively, or at least puts the energy to more use than just maintaining a blockchain.

If you hadn't heard, Sunny King developed a potential solution to this several months back.
http://ppcoin.org/
http://ppcoin.org/static/ppcoin-paper.pdf

I'm aware; I was just answering his question about why people bother pursuing alternate proof of work/stake/etc methods.
