So if I upgrade now I only get 9 months of contract mining with maybe less than half of the equipment running? It's very confusing. I cannot find the conversion information anymore.

I just want some divs returned to me to cover my original investment and nobody around here has any straight answers. I just want to know what are the chances of having my original gigamining investment returned from teramining? I never intended on keeping these shares until they expired, that was not the original contract. So I'm being forced into a corner of having to either /stick with dying gigamining / switch to a free upgrade which may return nothing / pay out a load more bitcoins for no guaranteed return.

Is there nobody else in the same predicament here?

It's said that I need to go to US Embassy for the notary if I want to claim my shares.
And the cost is $50, Right?
Who will cover the cost?
The customer? James? Or both of them?

That's cheap!

In the UK I had to pay £115 which works out at around $175
At the US embassy?

Not sure if you're being serious but the answer is no. It had to be sent to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office to be apostille stamped. This is a very rare request and is the reason for the high cost.

gigavps,

are you being told when your order is shipped? I'd like to upgrade my shares right before you get BFL stuff on your hands. Also, I'd like you to keep us updated about every new event.

Thanks.

I would also like to do it this way. For me it's the sensible thing to do.

So, given the fact that Butterfly Labs has not yet delivered, and may not deliver for several more weeks, if not months, could you at least give some consideration to those of us who have converted to a useless contract (Teramining) and pay out the dividends we would have received had we not converted?

I will visit this issue once BFL delivers all of the VPS equipment and I can assess the difference for each person who upgraded early.

I used the best information available to me to determine when to release the upgrade.

I think this is unfair, the people who could not afford the time nor money to claim early will be punished. The people who did the paid upgrade are in an even worse situation.
I haven't upgraded yet, partly because I was late making a claim and by the time I did bitcoin started climbing. For me personally, an extra 29btc upgrade for a mining operation that doesn't yet exist is excessive. I wish I could just sell my shares and have some of my coins returned from the original investment.

Is the upgrade cost still 0.29btc per share?

Finally got my VPS account activated Smiley

I have encountered one problem that I wasn't expecting though, regarding the upgrade.

I would like to use just a portion of my past divs to convert to teramining, and the remaining I wish to do a free upgrade.
It seems I am only able to do an all or nothing conversion?

To all Gigaminers:

Some who have upgraded have not liked the fact that Gigamining payments have stopped. I understand the concern. So, with that said, any upgrades that happen before Friday 2/15/2013 11:59:59 UTC will be included in a special early group of Teraminers. These individuals will have their mining contracts started within hours of the VPS equipment being up and running. Any upgrades after that time will follow the letter of the contract as quoted below.

Quote
2.3    The Commencement Date for the initiation of data processing services contemplated hereunder shall be ten (10) business days following the receipt of specialized processing equipment from an outside vendor.

If you have a pending claim into Quentin and I know about it (you know who you are) and are verified you will be allowed to upgrade and be included within the early group of Teraminers.

If you have not claimed yet, please do.

Best,
James

I am expecting my document to be returned from the FCO soon, it's a slow process.
To send it to the USA will most likely take a week, so people like me are locked out from this deal?

This isn't getting any better Sad

You have three options.

  • Stay with Gigamining and watch 5Mh/s be crushed into a FLV (future lifetime value) of close to nothing.
  • Upgrade for FREE. This will get you 36Mh/s for every 5Mh/s.
  • Paid upgrade. This will get you 135Mh/s for every 5Mh/s.

Thanks for the reply, the last part was exactly what I needed to know.

I will go ahead with at least the free upgrade, I am just unsure of the paid upgrade returning any of my initial investment or the upgrade payment. I was hoping for some figures but I can understand that might be hard to provide until the operation is in full swing.

Is Teramining a weekly payout?
How much better than Gigamining is Teramining predicted to be?

I'm a bit confused on the expectations of Teramining and if it is worth throwing more bitcoins at the upgrade (after my document is received and my account is active to enable me to upgrade).

I'm owed under 10btc. Has he paid back much at all and did nefario have it planned to exit like this with no intention of returning the btc?
After all of this time that has passed, I don't think it will be returned after no word from him in months.

Does anyone at all have contact with him?

Can anyone offer advice to a UK resident wishing to begin the claims process?

• How to get a document notarized (and costs?)

• Instead of a social security number do we provide NI number?

• Is it legal for to copy UK ID documents to send to another country?

You can get documents notarised at most Solicitors (their company name will usually say "Solicitor and Notary public" or similar).  There's a fixed fee for it (varies per So;icitor) - usually in the £25 - £75 range.  There are other people besides SOlicitors who can notarise - but SOlicitors are liekly to be the most accesible ones for you.  Check for any extras they charge before getting it done - you don't want to pay them £1 per sheet for photocopies for example.  You'll need to take along proof of identity (passport is ideal) and the originals of any ID documents being copied/sent (they MAY insist on photocopying the documents themselves).  You'll then swear under oath that the information contained in the affidavit is correct.

You then need to get the documents apostilled (which means a central body confirms that the notarisation is valid).  This has to be done by post with the Legalisation Office of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (you used to be able to get it done in person at Milton Keynes but that option is longer available).  Think the cost of apostille is £35 per document from memory.  Just google for "apostille UK" and I'm sure you'll find the details for that.

It's perfectly legal to copy documents such as passports.  They are explicitly listed as things which can be apostilled - and apostille is pretty much only used when sending documents overseas.  I have no idea if other countries have laws against sending copies of passports - but it's fine from the UK.

My objection to this procedure has always been that the costs are disproportionate for smaller investors and that they're being passed on to investors when the mistake was Giga's.  There's nothing illegal (in the UK) about what is being requested - and were disclosure of the requirement for such documentation made in advance of accepting funds it would be perfectly reasonable.

Thanks you for all of this information, it's the first time someone has taken the time to explain.

I don't know how the hell I'm gonna get all of that done, and the costs involved is just ridiculous. I'm really not a happy bunny.
