I am getting a bit nervous to be honest, despite me constantly reassuring my partner to hold tight for the longer term. Not going to cash in though.....yet, anyway Wink

I don't think so. I believe in the future and concept of Bitcoin so holding on to it in the hope that one day I can use it widely and as easily as any other currency.

If times are hard though, I will sell  Grin

Re: Are you going to pay taxes?

I fully intend to pay taxes on crypto when I sell it.
I suppose it depends where you live but in my country you would get in quite a bit of trouble if you did not declare and pay tax on capital gains.

I think it could definitely be covered in economics lesson. I think having discussions around anything "topical" would benefit students in their form groups.

Re: Why Media is negative about Bitcoin?
by

Most of the TV coverage here is poor to say the least. Even when Bitcoin was at it's peak, Newsnight reporters couldn't even get their head around it to interview people coherently on it. It's just "news" to them, a "filler". Reporters make out it's some weirdo nonsence but they just don't understand it. And they don't really want to give it any weight as, like has been said before, the powers that be need to put a negative/loonie slant on it.

That's positive news coverage. Didn't see what the coin was though. Still, any positive news is good for crypto in general. Smiley

It seems like it's returned to where it should be. Much more stable now which is as it should be for it to be seen as the main sound and viable cryptocurrency. Pumps and roller-coaster prices are far too stressful too!

It seems human nature to keep torturing ourselves with "what-ifs"! I too can tell a many woeful story of how I sold out early with several altcoins and Bitcoin but at least I know about it and the revolution which is happening.

Re: I am worried!
by

I too have had episodes of worry recently...I totally believe in the future of Bitcoin in particular, but had to rationalize how selling a small amount could make a difference to my life at the moment. The media hype and relish when the prices start falling has to be seen for what it is, like when they cover anything else! Hold tight if you can afford to do that and you still trust in Bitcoin's potential. As said on here time and again; if you read the philosophy behind the technology then your outlook will be different to those recent folk jumping on board for a quick profit. If you are really worried then maybe it is better to settle and get out rather than being unable to cope with any losses. Crypto is not worth giving yourself a hear attack over, after all Wink

Re: Bitcoin to eliminate unemployment.

No one thing can eliminate unemployment from the world, I don't think. Cryptocurrency can certainly help those from developing countries, but the people/miners will need to be smart, tech-savvy and have access to computer and internet. As with any situation, if you're driven to succeed and be self reliant, you will be. But then, those people will almost certainly have other jobs/ways of earning income if they can get it.

Poor Nepalese, that is a real blow. Completely agree, no need to imprison the Exchange Opps. Developing countries need to be able to be on board with crypto otherwise it's just  the same old story...

It will be a truly sad day if it does happen.
But a quick glance at the history XRP/BTC chart on coinmarketcap gives a pretty big clue as to what is going to happen pretty soon.

Thank you all for sharing this info. Not sure what I would do without this forum, honestly! For an additional bit of info, Revolut seems really useful especially if you have one of their pre-paid cards, you can use it anywhere in the EU without the usual charges...bonus!!

I've seen Bitcoin affect people in disturbing ways, taking over their lives and causing sleepless nights and stress. With anything, it depends on your nature and how one allows things to effect them. Bitcoin and crypto currency can contribute positively to people's lives. Just don't gamble more than you can afford.

Re: Are Bitcoins taxable?

Yes here we would need to declare any altcoins profits. I have just contacted an accountant to advise of paying income and/or capital gains tax. I'm happy to pay tax rather than get caught out down the line. I would advise anyone to do the same really.

Hi all,
Unfortunately I messed up on this weeks airdrop and didn't get all my Bitcointalk posts done in time.
What do I need to do to get back in for next week?
Do I need to re-apply or do I just carry on and make the right number of posts for next week?
just make sure you have all the posts next week and you should be good. no need to reapply

Ah, OK. Thank you. Can't believe I messed up.
Thought I'd done the right number on here but seriously miscalculated.
Will be more careful for the rest of the airdrops.
