You can try this calculator to give you an estimate.

http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/

WOW - pretty cool....

So to get the default settings....  running 50,000 Mhash/s (is this the same as 50 Ghash/s?)
... you could buy this?
https://products.butterflylabs.com/homepage/50-gh-s-bitcoin-miner.html

And it would be $2500 and assuming 100W @ $0.15/kwhr it would generate $23235.83 USD in 3 months?

If that's the case, why doesn't everyone order one of these $2500 boxes?Huh

Are you pool mining or solo mining?

I would be solo mining I guess?

The bitcoin awarding, is it completely random, or based on a # of computations?

Localbitcoins.com sucks right now. It's a good idea but good trades just arent happening right now. I live in los angeles and you would think because of the size of the city there would be a good amount of action happening but there just isnt. At most there are about 5 or 6 ads for sale and buy and of the ones with decent prices no one is responding. I put an ad up to sell bitcoins at a decent price and no one has contacted me yet.

I live in LA. How many bitcoins do you have to sell? What's your asking price? I'm waiting for the price to come back down to the $100-110 area before I buy.

Re: Detaching Bitcoin as much as possible from fiat

I think parroquiano is correct. For example, I'm a merchant. Looking to sell products in BTC. But I will have to pay my suppliers and raw goods and overhead all in fiat currency. Once I get up and running with the currency I intend to tell my suppliers about, who will tell theirs, etc, etc.

Best exchange given all the latest headlines?
by

Was considering trying to open a Mt.Gox account.... now considering buying from BitStamp or CoinLab. Any idea which is easier/safer/better?

To be honest, I'm not looking to send $$$ to any BTC trade network. Just looking for a way to accept a new form of payment...

So I would take in BTC and cash out USD whenever I feel the need or need capital to replace inventory sold.

What exchange would you suggest for a merchant???

I'm assuming when you signup you get a BTC "address" or whatever it's called, for someone to pay you with???

Thanks in advance!

Paypal is integrated so heavily in eBay it will always have a user base. Too many merchants already accepting it as well. Google Checkout has been out a long time and Paypal is still around.
