I set this up yesterday. I have 3 Raedon 5850s, but one one is set up so far. I was lucky, got all of the cards for $170 each. The most expensive part was the power supply, at $250. I'm going to set this up so I can control it from my mac, so I won't need the display, keyboard, or mouse. It also has no disk, I'm running it from an 8GB thumb drive. I should get about 1 ghash when it's ready, which is pretty darn good.

Some people will say I spelled the word grammar wrong, but some people will say I was actually referring to Kelsey Grammer. It all depends on interpretation.

I leave! I will give the BTC
This increase of difficulty on 80 % has made for me unprofitable to continue.
It is ready to give the last 3.85 BTC to the one who will send me 0.1 BTC (I will send on the same address)

You don't look totally trustworthy, this is your first post, and you have bad grammer. Scammers often have bad grammer for some reason.

Tell you what, I am ready to give you 0.1 btc, send me 3.85. 1HX4zSn3yQpVH3v9Sv5TNwMqbfXoBbMuNf

Is that Ubuntu with persistence or did you install straight to the thumb drive? I can confirm that once you have tweaked the cards you should get up to and a bit over 1 Ghash/s as well.
Awesome. I installed Ubuntu straight from the thumb drive. I don't know what Ubuntu with persistence is.

Interesting, Lynzoy only has over 70 because she is just a speculator http://pastebin.com/WxkUM0fe

Jesus, I'm surprised people put up with Pastebin
I'm the Lynzoy person here. This is one of my really stupid moments, I was not being careful. I'm not just a speculator, I'm also a miner and I have sold things for coins. I don't see what it matters anyway.

Hey foodstamp? Give me my money back. You can send 10 btc to my signature address.

I never said I was donating Bitcoins. Just money. I guess it might be implied because this is a Bitcoin forum, but this isn't the Bitcoin section of the Bitcoin forum...

What charities are worth donating to?
by
Lynzoi
on 12/07/2011, 19:06:26 UTC
I've been looking into charities lately. I'm reluctant to simply donate money to the poor. I'm afraid they will consume it, lose incentive to work, and remain poor forever. I'm interested in organizations that strive to free people from poverty.

I like the Grameen Bank. I read the book written by the founder a few years ago. I was impressed by it. This organization gives out business loans to groups of extremely poor people, and uses peer pressure to make them work to pay the loan back. Then the poor receive more loans and are able to support themselves just as anyone else would.

I also like the NewSchools Venture Fund. They fund education entrepreneurs who do things such as start charter schools in poor communities. I absolutely hate the American public school system, anything that gives children more options is good.

I donated 1 btc to Wikileaks, but that was more out of convenience than anything. I don't know a great deal about Wikileaks, but I think the less secret the world's secret torture camps are, the better.

I know I focused on poverty here, but feel free to talk about any charity you think is worth consideration. Cancer charities, abused kitten charities, whatever.

Haha, awesome, I'm part of the social elite. Start imitating my lifestyle.

I have moved a lot of money around, but I don't think I am really one of the richest on the forum. All this shows is how much money has been moved to and from that particular address. I have a lot of money in Bitcoins though.
What do you want, a medal?
I just want you all to install Bitcoin Tool  Grin

And we don't want to, but thanks for putting these peoples accounts at risk. WTF is wrong with people?
I don't think there is a huge risk here. I suppose somebody could attack my forum password, but there is no guarantee that is is the same as my other passwords. There's no guarantee that I store Bitcoins on my harddrive also.

There's no option for "all of the above." I'm a mac person, but most of my mining is done on linux. I recently got into PC gaming as kind of a by-product of having so many damn graphics cards.

"Happy families are all alike; every unhappy family is unhappy in its own way." - Tolstoy

Meaning, there are many ways this could go wrong, I can't predict. I suppose my biggest worry is a lack of interest. No interest = no demand = no money. Strangely, I'm relying on the government continuing to screw up. If the government does things right, nobody is going to get into alternative currency.

Re: Somebody tell me I'm going to grow out of this....

No, it is definitely not a matter of accepting it. When I feel like I am not contributing I find a way to be genuinely helpful, and the feeling goes away. It also helps if I accomplish something for myself that has real value.

Doing things differently will most likely help you. However, if no action you take alters your thinking, you could have a more serious issue.

What exactly HAVE you done? Other than the drugs? Did you try to volunteer, or something like that? It's well known that drugs by themselves rarely fix serious mental problems. Look into cognitive behavior therapy.

Whatever you do, do not wait for it to go away. The deeper your habits of thinking entrench themselves in your brain, the harder they become to control. Of course, there is a chance that this is a "phase", but you should not risk that. Teenagers can suffer also, it annoys me when teenage problems are dismissed as normal.

Editing and proofreading services, only 1 Bitcoin. (Satisfaction guaranteed!)
by
Lynzoi
on 12/06/2011, 00:35:58 UTC
The first person to respond gets 50% off.

I can save you hours of work. I can make your writing clear and precise, your arguments more convincing. Perhaps you don't feel as if you have the time or energy to relentlessly nitpick every essay, article, blog posts, and job application to perfection. Well, I do. All skill levels are welcome. I've even worked quite a bit with severe dyslexics.

If you want me to proofread something small, you'll get a discount. Likewise, if your paper is enormous, or your deadline is approaching fast, there may be an additional fee. It should only take me two to five hours to edit the typical three to five page essay, and this is approximately the amount of work I will charge one Bitcoin for.

Here's how my service works. Your writing will be edited and shown to you as a pdf file. You can then send me a Bitcoin in exchange for the text/word document, provided you like my work of course. If you do not like it, I will change it according to your specifications, for no extra charge.

Is your avatar a picture of Norman Bates? Funny how without the eyes it looks so much less crazy.

Anyway, the way I remember it, nobody at school was forced to recite the pledge of allegiance. We were expected to be quiet and stand up, but nobody forced us to say the words. Most kids did it anyway.

I liked the pledge of allegiance. It was a nice ritual. I'm not a fan of what the ritual stands for, but it's a somewhat less depressing to begin a day that inevitably will be depressing and stupid because it's a school day.

Re: John Stossel talks about the Bitcoin

He's not saying YOU have to farm Tigers. He's saying its the best way to preserve the species. And he's right. Would you use force to prevent people from farming tigers?

Personally, I hope no one farms Tigers and they DO go extinct so I can stop hearing people whine about them. Same goes for whales, rhinos, elephants, lynx, and every other endangered species.

As for global warming and other complaints about Stossel, pathetic. First of all, Global Warming is a retired term. It's called 'Climate Change' now. The Climate always changes. Whether or not humans have any effect on it doesn't change anything. What is certain is that governments (men with guns) are using Climate Change as an excuse to increase their power by taxing literally everything including your right to breath (exhaling releases the evil CO2!)
You don't understand. I'm not opposing tiger farming on moral grounds. I'm opposing tiger farming because it is a practical impossibility. A tiger is not a cow. Part of the reason tigers are so endangered is because they are very difficult to breed. All animals are not the same. It's amazing to me that people do not understand this.

Stossel seems to believe the rhino was saved because Africans used it to attract tourists. Nevermind the fact that the rhino is also critically endangered, and some species of rhino are even more endangered than the tiger is.

Does Stossel honestly believe that tigers are not used to attract tourists? It's one of the biggest things tigers are used for. I do not believe there is actually any law against tiger farming in the first place.

He even mentioned a few Chinese tiger breeders in his video. Of course, according to him, these exist because the owners are waiting for China to change their anti-tiger killing laws. Personally, I doubt that is the only reason they breed tigers. They probably breed them to sell to zoos, or as a tourist attraction. Why would someone breed tigers on pure speculation?

If everyone lived the way Stossel wanted them to live, you would get your wish. All endangered animals would go extinct.

I noticed you didn't comment on the fact that Stossel so blatantly manipulates information. That is what really annoys me about him, and that is the thing that really annoyed me about the tiger episode. Stossel sells himself as a man of unshakable and integrity, composed entirely out of pure logic and skepticism. Not swayed by popular trends but, only adhering to the facts. The truth is, he often either does not check the facts, or he purposefully manipulates the facts to suit his own anti-liberal agenda. I personally agree with many of the things Stossel says, but this kind of dishonesty disturbs me.

I have a friend who worships John Stossel... I keep having to point out to him the various manipulative things he does in his reporting. He garners attention by making everyone he talks to look like an idiot, through the magic of tricky editing. I recall one particularly stupid episode where he said the best way to save the tiger is to farm it for meat, and he implied that Chinese stores already sell things made of tiger meat. As evidence, he showed a picture of a tea package with a tiger on it. It's stupid.

Wait a minute, are you telling me there is no tiger meat in Chinese tea???

Yeah I know, ludicrous right?

Here is this thing I am complaining about, if anyone cares.

Notice how he shows an example of a product that does not "cantain" tiger, and then a few seconds later, the exact same product appears on the screen for a split second, and Stossel is claiming the product actually does cantain tiger. Really, it's sickening. I swear Stossel does this sort of thing all of the time.

The idea that it's even possible to farm tigers is disturbingly stupid. I mean... it's a tiger. It's not a bison. I'm all for free market enterprise and everything, but... you want to farm tigers? Give me a break indeed.
