Re: OW1 ASIC Help
by

ASICs in itself is built in such a way that the hardware chips are coded with a specific algorithm to make them the most efficient of the lot.

OW1 ASIC Miner only supports x16R algorithm and there is no secret method to unlock any more algorithms. It can only mine coins specific to x16R algorithm only.

Does anyone know if these boards support (ASRock H81 and H110) the newer RX5700XT GPU's?

Sure it does but make sure to update the MOB BIOS to the latest version.

Power consumption is crazy but the temps are really cool. What's the ambient temperature?
Please undervolt your cards using OverdriveNtool. I used to get around 29-31 MH/s with cards like RX570s and RX580s consuming 65-75W per card and the temps being 65-75C.
Drop the core clock and memory as much as you can until the card becomes unstable and pump up the memory clock as much as you can.
Also, try different modified BIOS according to the memory vendor of the cards.
NOTE: Please backup BIOS for each and every card individually before performing the above. If you brick it in the process, it's a pain to get it working again.

Crazy rig man!
Are you going to stick with ETH mining or thinking about mining any other coin with the P106s?

Check for any memory errors in HWinfo.
You can lower the core clock as ETH is not affected by the core but the memory.
Also, check the memory vendor of the cards, if it's Hynix. Don't push the memory clock values too much as the cards will become unstable.

75% PL is too low. Try 85 and then 80. I hope that should fix the problem.

The leaked prices are just the baseline.
Once, OEMs get there hands-on, the prices will be pretty more than that.
Not to mention, miner updates to support new-gen GPUs and such before any definitive testing and true capability of the card can be determined.
So, It's a sure waiting game till then.

Well, the profitability will be near to the predicted by the websites given that the price of the coin you're mining remains relatively constant to its current.

Anyway, ASICs have always been a risky purchase as there is no utility for it other then mining specific algorithm coins. Still, if you want to proceed with it. I'll strongly suggest purchasing it directly from the manufacturer's website, no matter what the third party sites says. If they have positive reviews from the reputable members of the community then it is safe to make a purchase from the site but until you get more information, it's better to stick with known websites to purchase ASICs.

So if it can't. Can i rewrite the bios of my 4gb gpu card and edit the bios of my 8gb in the polaris?

Yes, you can flash different bios to any AMD card provided it supports that specific model.
Yes, you can edit bios of 8GB card. Just backup your original bios first, then edit it as you see fit and then flash the modified bios.

WARNING: Be aware that bios modding and flashing is a risky task. Also, if you don't know what you're doing, you'll only be putting your card at a risk for brick.

Actually I don't have a strategy...

I was planning to sell 3/4 of the coins and save the rest for later, but I think I have learned enough from the market that I have to learn to be satisfied... I don't want to be greedy... And 400 is a pretty good price, so I basically just sell all of them when I get them. If I am that positive about the market, why don't I just buy them, right? If the price drops back to 300, I may use the 3/4 strategy lol

I would like to consider this as a small regular business, I put in elec as my groceries and I get the profit everyday, much more reliable and safer. Smiley

Well, that's true. The price is good and the uncertainty is not something someone wants to deal with.
Anyways, godspeed to you and I hope your endeavour turns out excellent.

Re: Real ETH profit

According to pool statistics my current hashrate is less than the reported one by 40 mx.
I understand that there is a margin of error of 10%, but 30 % is a lot.
If you are mining ETH, write your real profit, according to the statistics of payments from the pool.

Are you using Wi-Fi or ethernet connection?
Also, do you have VPN enabled?
Check if there is any network issue.
Also try to change the server location and check if that works.

Wow! This takes me back.
Anyway, do you have any strategy on selling coins that you are mining or you're keen on selling on daily basis?
Because if there is a high probability that ETH rises in price in the future, then you're better off keeping the coins and selling at a later date which will help you break even faster.

You can check the DAG size for ethash based coins here:
https://crypt0.zone/dag-file-size

Akroma, DubaiCoin, Nilu, Expanse, Ubiq are all under 2GB right now but probably they won't be netting much profit right now.

Just search for the model number of fan and you may get results in many websites.
Check out Aliexpress and order a few replacements. It should cost around $10 - $15 dollars.
For time being just use a case fan with some twist ties and hook it up directly to the heat sink.

Re: 8 x RX580 GPU build list
by
MATHReX
on 02/07/2020, 08:29:02 UTC
Don't forget to check if the cards have a dual bios switch.
My RX580s didn't have any and quite a few of them got bricked and they are of no use now.
It'll give you a failsafe when you'll be bios modding and also backup the bios for all the cards one by one.
Don't make the same mistakes I made.

You won't have to worry about cooling them or heat if you're properly undervolting them.
At most my cards were hashing at 31 MH/s with 75W consumption with 60 C in an ambient temp of 24 C.

There is also the factor of memory vendor in the card.
All the RX 570s and 580s that I bought came with Hynix memory and BIOS modding was a bit of challenge and risk at first but it did produce good results.
The highest hash rate I was able to get from the best card was 31 MH/s which was also unstable at times.

I have Turn on AMD compute mode but i still get 11,2mh/s

If your problem still persists, then give AMD Blockchain drivers a try.
DDU and install them for Windows 7, then ATI Pixel Patcher, if you have BIOS modded GPUs and then give it a try.

I hope you already know that mining has not been profitable for a while now.
Still, If you want to get started with it. Start slow.
A motherboard with more than 6 PCIe slots is preferable, cheapest Ryzen CPU, 4GB RAM, 60 GB SSD should be fine.
Do not cheap out on the PSU and get Gold rated or better. Corsair RM1000X is good if you are serious about expanding your set-up slowly.
I'll suggest going for GTX 1080ti which can be grabbed for $450 second-hand in a good condition.
Once you have all the parts, it's pretty similar to assembling your PC.
