I think its fair to say the website/DB just needs updating. My miners are still receiving work so I'm going to keep my miners going Smiley
I'm fairly certain that's all that's needed, as well. It's probably something from the swap over just not displaying on the website or something similar. However, I figure there's no harm in throwing them on the backup for a bit just in case it does end up the shares are just going into the void. I'm sure Eleuth will have whatever it is fixed quickly.

The odd thing is the MH/s for workers seems unaffected. I'm not sure I want to take the chance that the shares are getting counted somewhere and the websites just not updating...think I'm going to throw my hashing at a backup until Eleuth wakes up and has a chance to take a look at this.

yet another reason why we need a new system that punishes people that hoard.

i firmly believe that you should not be able to make money simply by having money, it just does not make sense to me. and others think the same, the Christians thought it was usury and the Islam people do too. i think it is a broken system, and needs to be stopped inside the currency its self. although i don't know how loaning would work. but i always go by the principal of save instead of get credit for it. for a rough example

take a 165k house for 360 months loan or 30 years at 7% interest. you would pay about 1100 a month. however if you took that 1100 a month and stashed it away every month for 150 months, you could buy that house right up front, and not give any money to the banks.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Islamic_banking
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usury

Calls out people for hoarding bitcoins, then suggests people hoard fiat currency....

Also, have a look at the Time Value of Money as to why interest rates are charged (What else could a bank/individual be doing with that money if they didn't loan it to you and what kind of return could they be getting investing in a business, making widgets, etc.) As a person or bank, why would I loan you money on the hope that I someday get back only the amount I loaned you? One of the complaints of our economy currently is small businesses can't get loans to raise inventory, invest in PP+E, etc, why would you take away the ability for all of these people to get loans? Loans, interest and debt are not bad things if used correctly and are a necessary tool of business.
Interest has been around since the earliest ideas of money and even in most usury systems it was only frowned upon to charge interest to members of the same ethnic group you belonged to, and in Islamic laws instead of charging interest they engage in profit sharing, joint ventures and cost plus...a rose by any other name.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_value_of_money/

Also, in your example that's 12.5 years of savings to get a house assuming that in your system there is no interest to be had by saving that amount of money. So now they've had to wait for 12.5 years before buying the house (where did they live for those 12.5 years and did it cost them anything?) and even though interest might not exist in your system, would the home value have appreciated even slightly?

Yeah, we had a thunderstorm at the house (I'm at work) and we've had no power for ~12hrs, but my stats say:

"Worker Name Worker Speed Round Shares (Stales) Last Share
xxxxx 0.00 0 (0)
xxxxx 0.00 251 (2) 5:11:13
xxxxx 0.00 190 (1) 5:11:32
xxxxx 0.00 124 (1) 0:16:41"

When the current round is only ~14mins old. It may be just a display issue? I have "estimated" rewards for this round, too, even though I know my rigs are down and haven't submiited a share in ~12hrs. The block stats page is correctly showing that I submitted no work during the found blocks.

Perhaps to deal with this in the future, you can go down this dark and shady road...

Put a notice on the site that only miners pulling in at least 10MH/sec are welcome.

This will not keep out the cpumining botnet, but it will establish the terms of your pool and the botnet would be violating those terms.  Then, once you identify a future botnet, invalidate 2/3 of all shares submitted by miners running less than 10MH/sec and just pretend like they didn't happen.  Net result, the rest of us benefit from the work of the botnet and the impact to the botnet's profitability might be low enough that they don't even notice.

and what about the Legit users under 10 mh a sec? oh right 'they are not important'. how could i forget..

They are not worth... probably they cause more problems (bandwidth/resources consumption) than their benefits (Mhash/sec).

So I think it's a good idea that larger pools allow only "gpu" users meanwhile "cpu" users must be confined to smaller polls where they are welcome.

My 2 cents

I would tend to agree with you, under 10 MH/sec likely clog the servers in terms of getting idles and it is doubtful that at this difficulty many people are knowingly CPU mining outside of thoes with free electricity.

On another note, cautiously optomisitc the servers are coming back up? My miners have swapped off their backup back to BTCGuild and I see the pool at nearly 100GH/Sec now.

Re: Transaction fees <> mining
by

I *think* the question being asked is if when coin generation for found blocks goes away and pools/miners will only accept transactions with fees how high will the fees go -- if they will be 5-7% or higher such as other methods of payment.

The answer to this, from what I've read, is that the network will set their own limits at that point. Some miners will still take free transactions, while some will set to only take transactions with X, Y or Z fee, and just depending on how much your fee is depends on how many miners will include that transaction in their block, thus lowering the possible time your transaction would be unconfirmed. This is as I understand it, which might be incorrect.

Anyone see how hard we have been killing it the last 45 mins??

7 BLOCKS in 45 mins

back (133108) to back (133109) to back (133110) to back(133111) to back (133112) and then a couple blocks later another back (133115) to back (133116).

Crazy good luck, "Luck in past 24 hours       975621 shares   (+41.4%) " lol

I got an email from them last night saying they'd look into it. It seems whatever Dwolla did with their Grid system messed up MtGoxs automation and they're a bit overwhlemed with all the transfered that got held up. All my past transfers with them have been quick and the MtGox guys seem really ontop of it just overwhelmed. Give them a few days to get back to your emails, mine took 36hrs to get back to me and I haven't heard back from a reply I sent them, but my advice would be just to have abit of patitence with them. This seems like an analomy and I'm confident they'll get my transfer and all the others that are held up worked out soon =)

WoW Gold on Kilrogg Server
by

I have two toons both near gold cap on Kilrogg and would be interested in trading some gold for BTCs. I've previously traded gold for time cards at a rate of 9,000g:2 Month Time Card but that was January and I'm unsure of current rates. Looking around it seems to be about $1.5-3/1000g. I'd be willing to trade 15,000g:1 BTC. I am well known on the server, let me know via post or PM and I can get in contact with you on the realm.
