Seems to have come out of no where. I bought a few after research, seems like a very good long term hold!

Well, unless you've been living under a rock or are pretty new in the whole cryptocurrency thing yeah.
I don't disagree with your second statement though, it's indeed pretty good long term hold.

What's peoples buy target for OmiseGo? It does feel overpriced and was such a hyped coin. Not sure it's worth the hype TBH..

It has hit rock bottom at this point, the price matches that of 1 month earlier before the big partnerships and events. If are searching for a long term hold coin you've found it.

It has a pretty solid team
2.5T$ partnership with enormous bank in SEA
McDonalds Partnership in ASIA with 400 stores
Won digital startup of the year
Collaborating with blockchain research in Japan, $500MM in funding
Beacon platform for Plasma implementation.
SDK deployment before EOY

Solid investors, solid advisors, solid community, they have trust of them and awareness.
Lots of good thing in a project  Cheesy

There is so much good news about the token. Why there is no momentum on this yet?

There is no working product yet and impatient investors got out to invest in something with higher volatility I guess. Look at chainlink for example. it skyrocketed and lots of people got rich off of it.

The results were disappointing when I tried mining MONERO for myself, mining with your CPU isn't worth it at all, you'll be giving up your PC for something that will barely earn you a dollar per day.

That wasn't a crash at all, but don't relax guys, a real crash is ahead of us, with the fork to for a new bitcoin everyone is going to withdraw a huge portion of their money from the altcoins so they can get the free airdrop. I'm hoping to buy even more OMG when the time comes.

Re: advantages of trading satoshis instead of whole bitcoins
by
Machanto
on 01/09/2017, 10:40:48 UTC
The high bitcoin price seems to be an obstacle for people who want to invest in it. Some may think, buying only a fraction of a bitcoin makes no sense. what should they do with less then 1 bitcoin?

Why not start listening and trading satoshis on exchanges? People who can not afford an whole bitcoin can buy thousands of satoshis. Of course, that has the same value and everything, but some folks it may help to feel better. I think this would help to become bitcoin more mainstream.

Google did something similar with their stocks. The primary google stock become to expensive, so they started a cheaper one.

what do you think, does this make sense?

I wholeheartedly  agree with you, didn't notice that this was a problem until I started trading, wanted to day trade with my OMG and instead of selling my OMG for 220k satoshi I accidently typed 2200k If I wanted to buy that would've been disastrous.

Do you take precautions to stay anonymous in the cryptocurrency world?

There is no reason to. Why would I give a damn if someone monitors my exchanges?
I'm not a big shot drug dealer or some shady stuff like that, if there is no reason for someone to monitor me why would there be a reason for me to hide?

Re: Creating Alt-coin
by
Machanto
on 27/08/2017, 23:14:08 UTC
hello, I am creating an altcoin for students for understanding cryptocurrency, it will not be having any value for money.

just concept for understanding

i am thinking to implement
1> block explorer
2> mining pool
3> pc wallets

i am open to all sorts of ideas you may have and if anyone may want to help please let me know.

You could just explain the use of other cryptocurrencies that already exist, there is no point in creating a brand new altcoin as an example for someone to understand the idea behind it.
If you really insist in doing it just fork an existing coin of your choice and present it. There is a lot of work in implementing features.

Re: What is your greatest fantasy?

My greatest fantasy is to have super powers so I could do great things for our planet. What's yours?  Smiley

It's more like a aspiration than a fantasy really, I just dream of the day of retirement, after having a successful career a lot of money and all the time in the world (or whats left) to enjoy myself.
All my life I've been dealing with immense stress worrying if I will succeed or not. I just dream about ending it and spending the rest of my life doing what I truly like and not succumbing to anyone's desires

Is Poloniex as bad as people say? I've only used Bittrex so far which I never had any problem with and I'm just wondering what could go wrong with an exchange.

Re: Hoping for Bitcoin to drop
by
Machanto
on 25/08/2017, 20:04:44 UTC
It is good that Bitcoin's price is so high since many gained many profit from it. But this hype is too much. Bitcoin is so much expensive now and every step we see Bitcoin increase. Well, I say it is time to go down. A price around 3000 USD is reasonable but going beneath that is much preferred.

What would it take to make Bitcoin's value to drop again? A new hard fork? whales dumping coins? anything, I just hope Bitcoin to drop tremendously.

The price will inevitably fall with the nov hard fork but I wonder if BTC will ever recover. The hard fork last time I checked had 90% miner support. Just think about it, BTC might get replaced

Re: Newbie begginer question

Hi guys! I want to get into mining but not with super ultra rig with 12 GPU's but with mine own PC. Is it worth it in any way? Or is there a website on which I can type in my specs and see how much I will mine depending on the coin? My specs are:

i5-6600K CPU
GTX 1060 GPU

I want to mine low coins which might profit in the future. I appreciate any help you guys can provide, have a nice day!

Should've made the post in the altcoin mining section because you cant really mine BTC with your GPU, there are ASICs for that.
To answer the question though the best altcoin to mine with your GPU is most likely zcash you can use this site to determine that for yourself though: https://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency

Re: why slow transactions?
by
Machanto
on 20/08/2017, 01:37:14 UTC
I have never seen things slower, when does segwit activate?

Segwit2x is projected to be in effect on the 23 of August, the reason why transactions were so slow might have been the increased number of transactions the network had to deal with. Generally though the speed of your transaction goes accordingly to the fees you enter. You can see the cheapest fee for a fast transaction here: http://bitcoinfees.21.co/

Re: PC Mining
by

Hello,

I have PC with specification

Intel Core i5
16 GB RAM DDR4
VGA : GALAX GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
MotherBoard : MSI B250I Gaming Pro AC

so can i use My PC for mining ?

Every PC can mine assuming you have a respectable PSU, The graphics card however in most cases is important as well because that will be the component you will most likely mine with.
You can calculate your profits or losses on this site: https://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency
I'd suggest you try zcash first then Ethereum, if you get fed up with all this information you have to search just ask here or use nicehash, it calculates the most profitable coin to mine.

Re: When did altcoins got so popular?
by
Machanto
on 20/08/2017, 01:04:37 UTC
With the success of Bitcoin we entered the crypto era, many developers who saw the success of that exact cryptocurrency had the ambition to create their own, backed by the people who believed in them and investors trying to find the perfect coin that will make them millionaires we ended up with huge amount of altcoins, shite or not. In order to answer the question: When did altcoins get so popular? It was after people saw the success of BTC

Re: Do you think Bitcoin will survive after 100 year ?
by
Machanto
on 13/08/2017, 19:28:11 UTC
It really depends what do you mean by "survive". BTC might still exist but it might as well be irrelevant to the general populace as something new and big might come by to replace it.
If by "survive" you mean BTC being the #1 crypto in terms of price and market cap? That might be it as well.
But we've seen BTC already being challenged by ETH at this very moment with ETH passing it in both transactions and nodes.

No, and I would be disappointed if it did, thats stagnant AF. As much as I like bitcoin, there is no way it will still be here 100 years later. at least, not like this; it would be a legacy system people only used out of nostalgia. We already have better implementations of crypto in my opinion, but they simply arent as trusted as bitcoin is. primacy means something here.  look at how much progress we have made with blockchains in general. It will take a generation that grows up with the blockchain concept to foster its evolution. after that, bitcoin wont even be the coolest kid on the block anymore.

Think of it like cars. While we still have cars, many years later after their invention, no one is driving around in a Model T anymore. Bitcoin is that Model T.  Wink

It wont be eth either. sorry fanbois...

Haha, don't be so absolute now, the thread is about speculations. Until these 100 years come we cant know what will happen to bitcoin

Re: Is it possible for a country to block bitcoins (or even the whole cryptos)
by
Machanto
on 13/08/2017, 14:02:47 UTC
It is impossible to block BTC or whole cryptos within a country, but they can censor it pretty effectively, if they prohibit the usage of cryptocurrencies companies and shops wont be able to accept them, but there can be exchanges among citizens. Finally there could be a block of major exchanges but that is easily solved via a VPN.

You better diversify your holdings first, before going for that billionaire status. Oh and also congratulations.

I am now a decatrillionaire thanks to Specucoin, the newest hot token fad. Thanks Butalik Vuterin!

I don't get what you're implying assuming that you believe OP is bullshitting us, what do I have to do with this?

You were just the person who's post I clicked 'reply' on so you got quoted. Off to spend my trillions at the horse races. Toodles!

Re: Can I mining ethereum with Raspberry Pi 3?

OK thanks.
But what if I get external graphic card for Pi or usb card?

I already install Geth on Pi, but how to use this?
Anybody have experience?
http://raspnode.com/diyEthereumGeth.htm

You are just wasting your time trying to get this thing run.
As people said before me, don't do it. You won't earn nothing. If you want to mine get a proper GPU to hook it up to a proper PC.
