It's a long story.
1)So, fiat currencies are backed by gold reserve.
2)Fiat currencies are centralized meaning every transaction needs to be approved by the Central Bank
3)and the amount of $ is under the Central Bank control, depending on if there is inflation or not.
Cryptocurrencies as bitcoin:
1)have nothing behind them as gold
2)decentralized (but there're some centralized currencies). Transactions are done by miners so to say.
3)no one can control the amount of btc or issue more than was prescribed by the system.
I did't cover all the differences, but you can make your own research via Cointelegraph or Coindesk; watch the price change over some period at coin360 or something.

I think XRP is gonna rise, but it won't reach $3 by the end of the year. It's now trading at $0.56, as coin360 says, and I can't imagine a thing that would boost the price to even $3
In the past few weeks, ETH has been falling, causing many people to be nervous. Some people sold their ETH at that time with the thought: "ETH is dead already."; "ETH will disappear." or "ETH will become a coin". And when ETH rose again they regretted "ETH has come back", "ETH will break in the next few months," "How stupid when I sell ETH."

Don't listen to those who spread FUD. Though eth is slightly up, it holds the major altcoin position by the market cap according to coin360
BTC will have been stronger by the end of the year, but I'm not sure if other cryptos will follow the trend.
