As someone who lost all of his BTC to MtGox: LEAVE HIS WIFE AND KID ALONE. This has nothing to do with them, don't be fucking immature.

What these mean, when they were created, whether they're even real, and whether they check with the blockchain remains to be analyzed. But that's what's in there.
They are real. Both the balances and transaction history match as reported by many MtGox users who checked their own data, myself included. There's zero doubt about this.

This is incredible. Really really bad news. I find it impossible to believe that this, if it happened, was only known to Mark and perhaps one or two key members of his staff. Others must have been aware of this.

He is only speculating in the blog post when he says that. No facts, just guesses.

They've both said pretty much that they were clueless and just *thought* that things weren't looking as bad as they were.
I can vouch for them as well. Got verified in minutes, and the whole process was as painless as it could get.
It's still a gamble though. Nobody really knows what's going on inside Gox; it's a gamble worth making if you believe Gox coming back is more likely than them declaring bankrupcy any time soon, but understand that there's risk.
