I did not read this forum so often, so it was a bit surprise to see all the fuzz around. I keep my support to NEM and the core group that it has been taking actions to continue and I'm looking forward to the alpha release!!

Faircoin is already out; they claim to be full PoS, very well distributed and with a strong community backed up.
They got a nice increase but they are still far from the top 5 coins.
In any case, since it shares some features with NEM it will be interesting to see its evolution. It is important also to, at some point makes the difference between NEM and FairCoin. They are already on the market and if the idea of having igualitarian coins gets popular, we will loose novelty in out of our major and attractive features.
Being said that, I am not impatient; but it would be nice if the devs can give us some update of the status of the project; what are the actual difficulties and some opinion if there will be delays or not. It can be informative for the community
Thanks!

Development update:

The development contract announcement will be delayed. My plan is to have the announcement when we have a clear road map of NEM development going forward and preferably within 1-2 weeks of the alpha launch. Unfortunately, at this point we don't have an ETA for the alpha launch yet and consequently, the formal announcement is delayed. My guesstimate of the Alpha is still on later part of April but there are quite a few things that needs to be worked on before we can make a solid ETA.

We currently have two repo, one for NEM infrastructure codes and one for NEM client codes and quite a few other concurrent projects going on. Progress is made on daily basis and team-quality wise I think we are as strong as Ethereum group except that NEM team and development are still in a stealthy mode.

NEM client would be called NEM community client (NCC) and here is NCC specification written by Thies1965. Feel free to comment on it.

These are some mock-up design of NCC

I hope you like what NCC will look like in the future. Let me know if you are a developer and interested in working on expanding NEM ecosystem. I have some ideas about the future direction of NEM that I could share and I am very excited about it. Thanks.
It looks fantastic!!
There are a lot of work to be done but it getting absolutely great
Congratulations!

Does anybody known how the  very initial price of NEM will be stablished?
Is this an arbitrary decision? Or it will be calculated according the market capitalization?

It will be negotiated by people at first, then on an exchange. The market cap = price per nem multiplied by number of coins

I think the initial price should be not so high (to avoid dumping) but also not so low; just the good value to generate equal interest on both sell and buy. IMO, the initial price should be between 100-500 satoshis per NEM. Of course, with all the features and projects; this value should be leave behind soon

My stake is for sale here in marketplace.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=508123.new#new
I will give you 10000 BTC for each account, i will  even throw in my cat. MEOW SCAMMER Grin

Man suck my dick.

You're paying for a stake, you'll get a stake. It is what it is. The account hasn't been flagged for multiple stakes buying, that's something escrow can check out during the trade.

This account I'm posting from now is an alt I created for the sole purpose of doing this, to keep my 2nd stake safe. I said escrow accepted.

but let's convene it is quite premature yet. It is even so premature that still we don't known you will be confirmed as stakeholder or not

Hi all,

We all talk about NEM and a New Economy Movement. Here, I want to share a concrete example about what I think NEM can really help to build a better world:

http://editi[Suspicious link removed]/2014/02/13/world/africa/cocoa-nomics-from-bean-to-bar/index.html?hpt=hp_c4

Chocolate production s a business of billions of dollars. Most of the world’s cocoa comes from West Africa, with more than a third coming from the Ivory Coast alone. Cocoa is grown mainly on small, family-owned plantations by farmers living in poverty. According to the publication, only 3% of the total price of a chocolate bar goes to the producers. If we can make NEM a powerful coin, those producers will be able to sell directly their products, without the necessity to use intermediates that speculate with the price. Even more, if we hink even beyond the cryptocurrency itself; those producers can start to manufacture their own chocolate, increasing the value and selling directly to retailers or even better, to consumers; using all the features of NEM coin.

This is why I am here

inspired by Jenskas logos i did this:

http://i57.tinypic.com/213qetg.png

I really like it, because its close to the fair trade logo (http://www.spd-langenzenn.de/wp-content/uploads/2013/04/fairtrade-logo.jpg) and with a bit of fantasy you can even read "nem".

join the dot with the bottom of the trough its in but have it most narrow in the middle,, itl more make out the "e".. or just have progressivly smaller dots then bigger or something

nice tho

Really nice! If it is to used for the "official" NEMCoin logo. We can consider it for the Fair Trade project

Correct me if I'm wrong but according to my fusion powered quantum ROI calculator we've struck gold here. 1 stake = 1 million NEM. If NEM were to be listed on any BTC exchange we'd see a minimum price of 1 satoshi per NEM. This equals 0.01 BTC per stake. We're rich!

It is too conservative. I will not stop until NEM's market capitalization at least reaching Litecoin's level.

That's what I was thinking. This is not a "dump at the first possible opportunity" project. I'm afraid though that many stakholders think like that.

This is why we should make sure that we can also build a similarly strong community! Then, anything is possible. But in the end the goal should be to achieve someting that has value (not because of the investment but) because it is usefull!

Yeah - agreed. NEM in and off itself won't be more usefull than NXT or most other cryptos. The most advanced and stable priced crypto isn't usefull if you can't do anything with it (other than storing value if it's really really stable). What could and will make it more usefull is the services and other things we (mostly devs Smiley ) build around NEM.

Agree with the comments. I have been thinking what can be do to give value to NEM beyond the still restricted world of crypto currencies. Maybe, if the development can introduced the idea of NXT's coloured coins and assist's exchanges in straightforward way, I guess it can be more easy to establish markets in which NEM can be used to buy/sells gods and thus transfer value to the coin. Thus, one of the markets that NEM can exploit is those agricultural products under the denomination of Fair Trade. Quite often, those products are sealed by small cooperatives of farmers in third developed countries. I envision in the near future that NEM, thanks to its egalitarian character, can be used by small communities or cooperatives to interchange its products in a fair way, without the intromission of intermediates that inflates the prices on their benefits
