I'd be willing to buy from any major online shop, such as Amazon.

Yeah, a good time to make money if you've got the money and the balls. Problem for me is, I haven't got either, lol.

I wouldn't bother using Gox, you're better off using a European exchange. Being in the UK, I use Britcoin, and can't fault their service  Smiley

Re: Non Merged Mining Pools ?
by

It is just not submitted to the Namecoind in the first place, so there's no test as to whether or not it's a valid share.  It's kind of a pointless feature IMHO, but I had a couple people ask for it.  Maybe some people just hate Namecoin?

Good.  I would imagine that some people opting out of merged mining are specifically wanting to not support the Namecoin network.  Honestly though, knowing the mining community I would expect most people opting out mistakenly believe that doing so will boost their Bitcoin income.

That's exactly it. Misunderstanding how it works. I thought that your miners would be split between the two coins, jumping from one to the other, or whatever. But if you say that people merge mining will get the same amount of BTC as those using pools that are only mining BTC, then I'll stick with the merged mining.

Seems a bit hocus pocus to me, but I'll believe you. Hell, it was the original NMC run, way back, that paid for all my equipment, therefore I am very glad to be involved in it again Smiley

I may have misunderstood how it works then. I thought that merged mining meant the miners work on both BTC and NMC.

I want my miners to work solely on BTC.

Are they aiming to switch to merged mining ?

What's the best non merged mining pool out there ?

I don't have to pay electricity bills and currently have 6 machines running (2x 5870 each). Therefore as long as someone is willing to buy BTC, I make money Smiley Not much per day, but it adds up Smiley

This merged mining is a pain in the butt. I only want BTC. I should have paid atterntion, as I did not realise the pool I was using had switched to merged mining  Angry

Mining NMC is a waste of your miners' time.

I've got a bad feeling we are going to get some more Moonco.in situations. The Grim Reaper is weilding his nasty scythe, and it's coming down on the exchanges.

Update:

Restarted the system. Balance is 1443.33

Next time I "stop" the system the balance should be around 1700.00

Maria.

I didn't get it... What happens if you don't stop the system? Will you lose money?

I wouldn't mind testing that out, but I guess it's some math/logic that requires the reset. Beyond me Smiley

Re: Are criminals stealing electricity to mine bitcoins yet?
by

on 02/10/2011, 06:05:35 UTC
If we are seeing such criminal activities, I think it will show that Bitcoin is starting to go widespread in the society, not a bad sign.

Yep, at least someone is using them Smiley

I wonder what the tax people's stance is on cryptocurrency ? Keeping your money in BTC and on exchanges, could be a good way to avoid taxes.

Free electricity has made it a lot easier staying with mining BTC.. if it wasnt for that I am sure a lot more people would be joining ya.

Unless you have power generating devices, electricity is never free. Someone pays for it somewhere. Just saying Wink

I think people need to start qualifying what they are saying, even though for most of us the implication is obvious, free to the miner.

Damn scammers, damn them to hell !  I got one supposedly from Paypal, saying my email address had been successfully changed and to click on the following link if there is any problems. FEKK YOU, I thought, and reported it to Paypal.

I checked my Papal account, and all was ok. Fekking scammers, may they all be bummed in hell by the Southpark version of the devil Smiley

If anything, today's events should be a wake up call to the BTC community.  Time for us to grow up.

By that, I mean things like the major charting site (bitcoin charts) having such vague error message.

Please... even Google uses humorous error messages.

+1 lol, yeah, love 'em
