Is it true that there's absolutely no documentation available anywhere for the Antminer S19 API?

Hey guys! I've encountered an incredibly strange situation:

it seems that there's no public documentation for the API of Antminer S19 with stock firmware - I'm shocked and refuse to believe it.

Tell me, is this true or not?

What firmware do you have installed on them?

Native firmware, I think.

We dont change firmware.

Is it possible to do with native firmware? It's critical for my case?

That is our Antminer models:

Antminer E9
Antminer K7
Antminer KA3
Antminer KS5
Antminer KS5 Pro

Guys, hello!

We have a zoo of miners in our project, but we've only managed to find API documentation for WhatsMiner models.

We also have various Antminer models: L9, S19, T21, etc.

And, surprisingly, I haven't been able to find documentation for controlling them via API.

Our goal is to establish centralized management and monitoring.

Whoever gives good advice is a star! Smiley

We are currently developing a pool based on SRI (Stratum v2) (I'm the tech lead).

We also want to support Fractal Bitcoin, but the documentation on docs.fractalbitcoin.io is clearly insufficient for developers. It's more like a marketing brochure than documentation like Grin's.

Could you please suggest a more comprehensive source of information on Fractal Bitcoin?

Perhaps you could share a contact who is knowledgeable on the subject?

Even just a good, up-to-date piece of advice would be helpful. Grin

Thank you.

Smiley

Fractal Bitcoin?

Grin

Working algorithm using the number "e" for hashrate calculation how common is it
by
Many Coins
on 31/01/2025, 18:40:49 UTC
I'm currently developing a mining pool implementing Stratum 2 in Rust (SRI), and during development, the question arose of calculating a miner's hashrate based on the difficulty of the shares they submit. I conducted a small experimental study and found that the following algorithm provides the best accuracy:

1. I take the shares submitted by the miner over a period of time, say 10 minutes.

2. I calculate the difficulty (share_diff = max_target / hash) for each.

3. I find the share corresponding to the (1 - 1/e) percentile (this is approximately the 63rd percentile) in terms of difficulty.

4. I multiply the difficulty of the share found in step 3 by the total number of shares.

5. I multiply the result obtained in step 4 by 1/e (approximately 0.37).

6. I multiply by 2^32 and get the number of hashes that needed to be iterated through to find all these shares.

7. I divide by the number of seconds (for 10 minutes, this is 600 seconds) and get the hashes per second.

If someone understands code better (I don't vouch for the accuracy, it was generated by AI based on my description Smiley

Quote
def calculate_hashrate(shares_list, time_period_seconds=600):
    max_target = 0x00000000FFFF0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
    difficulties = np.array([max_target / hash_value for hash_value in shares_list])
    percentile_difficulty = np.percentile(difficulties, (1 - 1/np.e) * 100)
    total = percentile_difficulty * len(difficulties) * (1/np.e) * 2**32
    return total / time_period_seconds

I have questions:

1) Is this technique commonly known? And what are the alternatives?

2) Why does this even work? I have a lot of work on the project right now, and I don't have time to delve into theoretical mathematics, but I'm very interested in this story with the number "e" - why does this particular number work? Can this algorithm be written in any other way?

Thank you.

We are working with an engine based on https://github.com/stratum-mining/stratum - you are probably right, it's worth basing calculations on the target rather than the average hash_diff.

Essentially, we need the hashrate displayed by the miner's device to match the hashrate we calculate based on the difficulty of the shares (hashes) it submits.
Can't you accomplish that by making the shares small enough, so the miner has multiple shares per reward period? That way you should get a nice average instead of peaks.

A real-world example: during local testing with CPUMiner, 50% of the shares come in with a difficulty between 0.05 and 0.15 at a rate of 10 shares per minute. However, episodically, CPUMiner calculates shares with a difficulty of 10.0 and even 40.0 - and this completely skews the hashrate calculation over 10-minute intervals. I've tried trimming extreme values in the calculations, but I still can't achieve acceptable accuracy between the hashrate reported by CPUMiner in its logs and the hashrate we calculate. I'm currently experimenting with different normalization schemes, but haven't found a suitable solution yet. So I thought - maybe someone has a ready-made solution.

Let me start by saying I'm not a Bitcoin miner, but can't you increase the time period over which you calculate the hashrate?

We are developing a mining pool, and it would be beneficial for us to know the hashrate statistics of each worker over a 10-minute period to distribute rewards fairly. Essentially, we need the hashrate displayed by the miner's device to match the hashrate we calculate based on the difficulty of the shares (hashes) it submits.

How can I get a hashrate from hash-difficulty

⭐ Merited by LoyceV (4) ,ABCbits (4)
Greetings!

During testing and calculating the hashrate of workers (in some bitcoin-app), we've encountered a challenge:

- The calculated hashrate of miners, based on the difficulty of the shares they submit, differs significantly (by several times) from the actual hashrate of the workers – both for ASICs and CPUMiner.

We calculate the hashrate as follows (this is pseudocode for simplicity):

```
diff = max_target / hash
total_hashes = sum(difficulty * pow(2, 32))
hash_rate = total_hashes / sec
```

Essentially, we determine the number of hashes required to find a hash of the required difficulty (`difficulty * pow(2, 32)`), and then we do this for all hashes found in the last 10 minutes, sum them up, and divide the sum by 600 seconds.

It seems like it should work.

However, in practice, CPUMiner, for example, finds shares with difficulties ranging from 0.01 to 10.0 within a 10-minute period. As a result, our formula leads to a hashrate that fluctuates wildly (by several times), deviating significantly from the actual hashrate.

Have you encountered anything similar? Could you suggest a solution or at least point us in the right direction for further investigation?

Thanks in advance to everyone who participates in this discussion.

Hi! I'm currently participating in a project developing a mining pool based on Stratum v2 in Rust. In 3-4 months we'll complete the project, and I'll likely be looking for a similar one. Could you tell me how much demand there is for this in the current English-speaking job market? How many available specialists are there in this field?

JSON-RPC unexpected mining.configure value: version-rolling.min-bit-count ?
by

on 25/09/2024, 15:02:43 UTC
Hi!

When I try to connect CPUMiner with https://github.com/stratum-mining/stratum - its OK.

But if I try to work with WhatsMiner M30S+_VH20 then:

Code:
09-25 16:09:35.00 N btminer[4182]: Stratum connection to pool 0 interrupted
09-25 16:09:35.14 E btminer[4182]: JSON-RPC unexpected mining.configure value: minimum-difficulty
09-25 16:09:35.14 E btminer[4182]: JSON-RPC unexpected mining.configure value: version-rolling.min-bit-count

in WhatsMiner log, and

Code:
2024-09-22T08:28:29.637591Z  INFO translator_sv2::lib: HEALTHY message: Channel receive error: RecvError
2024-09-22T08:28:29.714451Z ERROR translator_sv2::lib::status: Error: Io(Custom { kind: ConnectionAborted, error: "Connection closed by client" })
2024-09-22T08:28:29.714512Z  WARN translator_sv2::lib::downstream_sv1::downstream: Downstream: Shutting down sv1 downstream reader

in Translator Crate log.

And in tcpdump:

Code:
Miner: {"id": 196, "method": "mining.configure", "params": [["version-rolling"], {"version-rolling.mask": "1fffe000"}]}
Stratum: {"id":196,"error":null,"result":{"minimum-difficulty":false,"version-rolling":true,"version-rolling.mask":"1fffe000","version-rolling.min-bit-count":"00000000"}}

What is going wrong?

How can I fix it?

Tnx!

by
Many Coins
on 17/04/2024, 08:46:16 UTC
