Re: Star Trek into Bitcoin! Friday night at the Conference
by

I'm living in China and Into Darkness was released in theaters a week earlier here.  Naturally, I saw it opening night.

It was awesome.

My Trek credentials include:
- I've seen every star trek movie at least 3 times (except for the new one, only once).
- On average, I've seen every episode of every series about 3 times each.
- I've been to 2 Star Trek conventions.

Re: Is this price drop so bad after all?
by

Yea, the recent price decline has given me more confidence in Bitcoin's future.  A sustained surge in price would be an anomaly.  This volatility is more typical.

Funny.

These types of price swings feel much more like the Bitcoin I'm used to.  Why is everybody freaking out?  Cheesy  I'm more relieved at this recent development because it means we're back on some degree of sanity.  A bubble needs a correction!  Undecided

People who lost tons of money are the same types of people who lost tons of money last time.

I have 0.7.0-beta.  How will this affect me?

From what I understand, it looks like my client wouldn't recognize v2 blocks.

Not really a reply to your post, but I also wanted to say that I think that the guys who made the improvements to bitcoin.org have done a fantastic job.  I think it's really great.  Nice layout, honest, and comprehensive.  Great work.

News hasn't been too bad.  CNN is doing their best to play fair, Al Jazeera isn't doing bad, even Fox is taking a modestly neutral position (shocking, I know), BBC is lols but they're trying, I'd say NPR is doing well...  But CNBC... holy crap they're drooling on themselves.   Embarrassed

the mere fact that all those news agencies are talking about Bitcoin is fantastic.

who thought we'd see this so soon?  Cheesy
Yea, after this week we can safely say that everybody in financial news has heard about Bitcoin, and maybe even actually understands it to some degree.  A huge week for Bitcoin.

Next week will be the reaction, and from there on... that's when we'll see.

Despite all the serious news blunders on Bitcoin, there has finally started to be some legitimate discussion and coverage.  Quite a few journalists are taking their crash-course on bitcoin seriously, and I love watching them have the lightbulb moments.

Re: WTF!!! bitcoinwatch.com hacked?
by

Jesus man, take it easy, not everything is hacked. The guys at bitcoinwatch simply changed the layout of the site and some pages are different, while others don't exist.

Funny thing is, to a lot of people in the world those two would still mean the same thing.

Re: 2013-04-05 Al Jazeera English - Inside Story : Cashing in on the Bitcoin boom
by
Mark Oates

To defend Amir, I think it's OK for people to see his image.  His arguments are good, and while his appearance isn't exactly "attractive" and "comforting" to the common man, his views do reflect the sentiment of a strong part of our (increasingly diverse) bitcoin culture.

What is good for people to see, is a "hacker" arguing passionately about the inherent good of people.  If you were the common layman and took a second to "listen to the wacko", you would hear his passions for a healthy and vibrant world economy, freedom from banks, a need for a system that is safe from identity thieves, etc.  It helps to quell the stereotype that "those guys" are only interested in creating a cryptic-currency to go buy drugs.  And I see that as a positive thing.

Also, the audience of Al Jazeera is more diversity-aware than the typical American audience.

(I thought the Indian guy did a good job, but his accent was a little thick Tongue).

Sooo, I'm confused...

This is no different than a person selling something on their website with paypal, and in the form:

mysellingemail@myaddress.com ">

Except someone found a way to access the addresses of these prefab coinbase buy-now buttons that these merchants put into their websites?
