6 1070ti's same (or lower) shares per minute as 3 1070's/1 1060 6gb???

Rig 1:
6 1070ti's
PL 70, Core 200, Mem 600

Win 10

Rig 2:
3 1070's, 1 1060 6gb
1070's= PL 70, Core 130, Mem 550
1060= PL 70, Core 100, Mem 275

Rig 2 running
https://i.imgur.com/E8GVDue.jpg

Rig 1 always seems to have lower/same/slightly above sharerates than Rig 2 for some reason. Both are running on the same pool, doing the same things, however little dinky seems to overpower the big dog.

In my research I have noticed that Rig 1 has higher iterations per second than Rig 2.

The latency of Rig 1 sometimes is higher than Rig 2, however the majority of the time they are the same/similar. Router?

The main difference that i see is Rig 1 has the server difficultly changed quite often, and Rig 2 rarely see this. Pool?

I'd appreciate some thoughts on this if anyone happens to have any. I'd be happy add any suggestions to the research that I'm currently doing.

I can't seem to figure out how to disable a gpu in DSTM.

https://i.imgur.com/hfGlRKV.png

When I use --dev 0 2 3 in the .CFG file, the miner shows an error and wont start. I have no clue what I'm doing wrong.

I assume I'm putting in the wrong place, or there's another command I'm suppose to put in there.

EWBF I just remove the number in my cuda device, and others I can simply type in the number while the miner is running to turn them off individually.

Any help would greatly be appreciated!

Re: New NVIDIA UPDATE 397.31 showing LOWER SOLS on DSTM
by

20 sols is such a small amount its barely considered variance, I think you are making much ado about nothing.

This thread was meant to inform others about the drops, but as I mentioned the sols were still declining. I didn't let it go any lower but it's quite probable it would go lower.

Not too sure about 20sols not being a big deal though. Many have switched from EWBF to DSTM for a higher rate and many state they get around 50sols more. There appears to be justification to run it at 2% dev fee for at least 50sols more. A 20sol difference is almost half of that.

Similar problem here. How do you rollback the driver?

In windows, go to Device Manger, then to display adapters.

Rclick on a card, then properties.

Driver, then roll back.

3 EVGA 1070 FTW2
1 EVGA 1060 6gb SC
DSTM

All of my rigs are running driving version 23.23.13.9135 (3/23/18) and DSTM without any issues.

Today on my smallest rig I updated to 397.31 (4/25/18) and saw a loss of "at least" 20 sols.

My average before the update was 1811sols, but after the update I was getting 1791sols and STEADILY DROPPING.

I did a rollback and everything went back to normal.

When I did the rollback, I'm now showing 24.21.13.9731 (4/22/18), however I'm getting a warning that the new 397.31 (4/25/18) is available for download.

I'm just putting the word out to at least check one rig before updating all your rigs.

Is there a viewable saved log for DTSM?

One of my rigs runs Win 7, and the program doesn't hold information in the window as long as Win 10.

I'm getting rejected shares here and there. I wanna button that down, but by the time I realize I have one, it's removed and I can't see which cards I need to back off the OC.

Re: Hive OS - new Linux GPU mining platform

Is there a list of what notifications will be sent to you via Telegram? I am specifically interested in GPU heat warning for X temp.

I was also wondering if Hive would turn off a rig, or disconnect mining when GPU temps reach X temp?

I am currently moving my farm to a new location. I will need heat monitoring until I can get the cooling worked out, but the ability for an OS to ensure my GPUs don't get damaged while I'm sleeping would be great piece of mind.

Email notification for GPU overheat, or notification for ehaust fan breakdown?
by
Mark899
on 23/03/2018, 00:55:28 UTC
I'm working on an enclosure for both of my rigs. I should be done with it at some point tomorrow.

Basically, they'll be in a semi enclosure with an exhaust fan above, however the area up top will be fully enclosed.

I'm worried to death that at some point the fan will break, and fry my cards since they'll be no exhaust ventilation without the fan running.

I'd like to find a way to be alerted via email if the fan breaks down, or if my gpu's reach X temp. If I can get that info, ill be able to shut down either rig via my Kasa smart plugs.

My first search was for a plug similar to the smart plugs I have now. The only thing I really found was one that'll text you an alert when the power goes out. I decided against this right off the bat because you need to get a sim card from your cellular provider to run it. If I cant find something along those lines, Ill need to start looking into monitoring my GPU heat.

My next thought was running Simple Miner, or Awesome Miner. I would be more apt to use Simple Miner because of the three free rigs, but I dont see where it sends email alerts for heat. Awesome Miner appears to, but I don't want to pay monthly for one rig. One rig is a 100% miner running Win 10. My second is my everyday pc and running Win 7. I could run one on a mining OS, but not both, however I figure all I need is be notified It doesn't matter if it's just one, or both calling the alarm. Still, I'd like to be a low cost as possible.

Just curious how some of you get your info on this, or maybe a suggestion either for some sort of plug, software, or anything really that'll help.

Thanks!

BTCP Exchanges: How long until we know?
by
Mark899
on 18/02/2018, 22:21:40 UTC
We are getting pretty close to the fork and I haven't see anything saying they will support the fork.

I see Bittrek adding new coins almost daily, but still nothing on the BTCP front.

I usually don't mess around with forks, so I'm not sure of the normal time frames with exchanges showing support.

Is it normal to wait this long for exchanges to get the word out?

If they will support, could this possibly happen late as in "day of" fork?

If they won't support it, will we know before the fork as well?

Thanks for the information!!

@Onbusy

Man, that's a good price. I'm currently looking into those now.

@MarkAz

Going off of your information, I ordered a 6 of those USB cables. In my mind, it'll be good to use them to test out what I have now.

Risers: Advice needed with my delima
by

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07333WKX7/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I've purchased about 12 of these total. My last batch, 3 of them had issues. I'm either getting bad stability, or my cards wont even show. Not only that, but 2 1x adapters wont even fit into a PCI-E slot. The notches don't appear to be cut correctly.

I haven't decided if I'm going to get a refund for the last 6 that I purchased, or contact S-Union to see if they'll just swap out these 3 that I know are faulty. The thing is, even running the one's that are working I feel are in question. This 6x 1070 ti rig is by far more touchy with OC'n than my other. Both are exactly the same.

I noticed on the past few builds from BitsBeTrippin, he's used...

https://www.amazon.com/Onvian-Mining-Dedicated-Graphics-Supply/dp/B01MU51491

The only real difference I see between the 2 are the capacitors. The ones I have are 330, and the other uses 270.

I could very easily have the same issues with the Onvian, but I tend to use things that I see others that are more experienced are using.

If you were in my situation, what would you do?

Is there a better set of Risers that I should be looking at?

The Ti's are always going to be a little better than the original.

That's both in hashing power and cooling.

The brand also makes a difference.

EVGA 1200 P2 PSU: Run GPU off of CPU rail?
by
Mark899
on 20/12/2017, 16:32:03 UTC
I have room for a 7th GPU in my rig, however the only 8pin PSU slot open is an extra CPU connection. I have an extra 8pin to dual 6+2 that I can use.

Is it safe to run a 1070 Ti off of that?

I also have the option of using a 6pin Peripheral slot with a 6pin to dual 6+2pins, but I'd have to buy it.

I assume each rail is capable, but I just wanted to check to make sure.

I would have plenty of overhead on the PSU. Total running would be 1,000W.

Don't set fans to auto? Why?
by
Mark899
on 11/11/2017, 02:09:21 UTC
Out of all the threads I've seen concerning this topic, I don't believe anyone has actually came out and said "why" it's not a good idea to set fans to auto in Afterburner.

I just assume that setting doesn't keep your GPUs cooled off enough and most just set a speed at standard, but is that the only reason? What if your temps are perfectly fine and you don't want to add more wear and tear, energy consumption, and sound?

My rig is actually my normal every day PC that I moved to an open air I built. ATM, I'm running 2 1070 FTW2's and 1 1060 SC 6GB on it. I run on-board for my daily usage, but when I want to game I'll use the 1060. The FTW2's stay running all the time. Keeping her quiet is very nice.

I really don't see a need to change them unless there's some issue that I'm not aware of. Nothing changes, they stay like that all the time, but I'd like some feedback. Idk if there's something that I'm missing.

Oh, I gotcha.

This forum was suggested by a Youtuber for technical discussions on builds, so I'm not sure if I'm in the right place or not.

I was looking for a place to have technical discussions on different rigs, and receive help as I go through the process of building, software, etc... To become a part of the community.

If I'm in the wrong place, is there a good place that I should go?

Thanks

Obviously, you aren't planning to mine bitcoins, are you?

I'm not sure what you mean.

Is there something wrong with this build?

I plan on running Nicehash Miner, the same as I am doing now.

A bit more info would be helpful.   Wink

Potential first rig. Input needed and welcomed before I pull the trigger.
by
Mark899
on 22/10/2017, 05:13:22 UTC
I've spent many hours combing these forums and the net for ideas on different builds. I feel confident enough to post what I think will be a good starter rig.

ASRock H81 PRO BTC
Intel Celeron G1840 Processor
Kingston 4GB 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600
EVGA 1000 GQ, 80+ GOLD 1000W
SanDisk SSD PLUS 2.5" 120GB SATA III
Electop 2 Pack 2 Pin SW PC Power Cable on/off Push Button
MintCell 6-Pack PCIe 4-Pin MOLEX PCI-E 16x to 1x Powered Riser
EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC GAMING
P3 P4400 Kill A Watt Electricity Usage Monitor

The 1070 will run full time, however I am toying around with the idea of buying two of them. When I'm not using my regular PC, I'm going to swap back and forth my 1060 6GB between them. So, lets just assume that I'll be running two 1070's and 18-20hrs a day with the 1060.

At the start, I don't plan on OC'n, but I'm sure I'll reach a point where I'll be interested in doing so. If I can make back what I put into this, I'll add a new GPU here and there for a total of 6 when all is said and done.

I can run Win 7 64 or Win 10. I really haven't seen anyone make a case for one being better than the other, but everyone (using Windows) seems to be Win 10.

Thoughts
No one really metiontions a surge protector. I would assume it would be a good idea to have one. Any suggestions if it's needed?

I'm not sure if it would be a better idea to run two PSU's instead of just one.

What do you think my soon to be peers?  Grin
