Good luck with that. Most posts in theese threads are made by people who participate in that token's bounty. Meaning, they are biased as they get token rewards for promoting the company.
I woul take any advice here with a grain of salt.

Fave is Narrative - https://www.narrative.network - building the first content economy. This ICO doesn't start until Feb though.
You def need to do your own homework though. I would never invest just based on what someone said in a forum.
You need to focus on some valuable ICO projects, and if you choose the right ICO project, then in 2018 you will have a huge profit because the bull market is just beginning.
Can you tell me the process to apply at a ICO?
You just need to research to find ICOs you like. There are many of them and lots are not very good. SO key is to do your own research and find projects you think have solid prospects and could be good value long term.
I've done a bunch of ICOs this past year. Am pretty picky though.
To do:
-- See who is on the team. Are they experienced? Do they have linkedin accounts you can check out? Do they have other companies they have run before?
-- Read white paper- this tells you all of the details about the project and is best way to see how well the plan is thought out. If it makes no sense to you or does not seem like a quality plan, avoid it.
-- Check out timeline and think about upside potential - how confident are you that they can pull it off and and that it will happen?
It takes a lot of work to find best ICOs-- and don't rely on ICO directory sites either.
FWIW, these are new ICOs that are either happening now or about to happen I like a lot, but please do own homework0 don;t just trust me or anyone else:
1. Narrative- https://www.narrative.network-- they are disrupting social media and publishing so it's a huge opportunity and the white paper and team are very solid. Probably my fave long term pick.
2. Gladius - https://gladius.io/ - DDoS protection on blockchain- this one also seems super solid to me. like the team. Also seems very solid to me, though maybe not as big an opportunity as narrative is.
3. SwissBorg- https://swissborg.com - wealth management on blockchain- like team here as well. get a good vibe from this one.
Do't invest too much in any one ICO though... especially if you just getting started. Get your feet wet and make sure you know what you are doing.
Aside from ICO, i like these cryptos-- NEO, ETH, Monero, Verge, and Bitcoin.
I don't think ETH will overtake bitcoin personally... and I think NEO and EOS are big, very real threats to ETH. Not trying to be down on ETH,, which i really like. Just think bitcoin will remain king for quite some time.
