Out of curiosity, what happened to those 0.01 BTC jackpots to be awarded when reaching a new level?

I'm now level 3, but I never saw anything about them...

Re: Quantum computers: possible menace to Bitcoin?
by
Massimo80
on 15/07/2014, 13:31:52 UTC
If quantum computers were actually available (at least to someone) and were effectively able to successfully attack cryptographic algorhitms, there would be a lot more profitable ways to use them; and, if one really wanted to use them against the Bitcoin ecosystem, cracking private keys would be a quite more useful target than mining.

The profitable way to use these kinds of technology would be to simply mine altcoins on a multipool, trying to do anything else would likely cost more then it would generate in revenue.

If they were a viable menace to cryptography in general, every secure communication in the world could potentially be compromised, including web sites, digitally-signed emails, and so on. If that stage was to ever be reached, I'd be a lot more worried about credit cards and bank accounts than Bitcoin wallets.

It seems even OP has given up on this project as well.
IMO, the site provides an unique skill-based game and is fun, but maybe most people prefer the more straight-forward dice and blackjack games...

Same thought here. And it's quite a sad one.
The game actually *is* fun...  Undecided

Currently, the computing power on the Bitcoin network is 1.35 zetta flops (sextillion FLoating-point Operations Per Second). That is 5,000 times greater than the power of all of the world’s fastest 500 supercomputers combined.

Wow. Is this accurate? I don't know much about flops and computer power, but I was under the impression the hashrate was about 135 petaflops. Either way, this is quite a massive achievement!

Hashing doesn't actually involve any floating-point operation. Measuring hashing power in FLOPS just doesn't make sense.

That said, the Bitcoin network is very likely to be the biggest distributed computing project ever created...

Re: An (even more) optimized version of cpuminer (pooler's cpuminer, CPU-only)
by

I'm looking to modify cpu-miner.c to include the entire command line. When compiled, instead of using options and args (./minerd -o XXX:XX -u xxx -p xxx -q -B) i want to specify them all in the source.
This has to work on all/most cpuminer forks, if anyone can do it, PM me for a 0.05BTC bounty.

You want to hardcode command-line parameters into the source code? Why in the world would you want that? Recompiling the software from source everytime a paramater needs to be changed just doesn't make any sense.

If you want a simpler way to launch the program, just put the full command line in a script and then launch that.

It would be a lot better if a single payment is performed for the full balance, instead of having two separate payments for earnings and referral earnings; sometimes one or both of them don't reach the cashout limit, while they instead reach it when summed together. In this situation, you have to wait one more week for getting paid.

Another (for me) bug, every time the time goes to zero and the captcha is proposed, the first solve of it don't open the possiblity to play again but is reloaded the page with another captcha and, so i have to solve it twice to start a naw session of playing.

This actually happens quite often, regardless of the page having been left opened or fully reloaded. The CAPTCHA sometimes just doesn't work and acts like it was answered wrongly, even if the the answer was perfectly correct.

Anyway, even if this kind of CAPTCHA seems to be rather buggy, it's still a lot better than having to parse an unreadable mess of random characters.

Another little bug: the last pickaxe in a game is not replaced by coal, the pickaxe symbol remains in that square after the game ends.

Also, sometimes this happens to a random pickaxe during a game, too; the coal symbol is not displayed and the pickaxe symbol remains in the square.

Maybe some problems with Flash player. google ads loads asynchronously

Yes, probably. But it only happens to me with this specific ad on this specific site, and when it happens, the whole page becomes unusable and I have to close or reload it.

I've also tried updating my Flash player, but nothing changed.

There's something very weird going on with that ad, and I'm sure it's not your fault, but it keeps happening Undecided

Let's just hope they remove it from ad rotation soon...

Ok, I can confirm is a problem caused by a specifc ad, it started happening on other sites too when the same ad is displayed.

I just wish there'd be a way to report this to Google Ads...

Re: Where should I look for information about mtgox claims procedure?

I'm sure I'm not the only one here who wants to know how to make a claim in the mtgox bankruptcy. The notices posted on mtgox are indecipherable. Is there a thread about this somewhere with tips on how to claim?

The notices posted on the website are actually quite clear: the exact procedure to file claims has yet to be defined, and it will be published there as soon as it's ready.

As of now, no claims can be filed yet.

This strongly depends on the country where the company is located; it can also depend on the countries its customers are from.

There's something on the main page which slows down the browser to a crawl and makes the site completely unusable, you can't even input your Bitcoin address or the CAPTCHA.
I think it's some ad, because it happens sometimes but not Always; this has been going on since yesterday.

Please fix this ASAP.

I suspect it occurs by a-ads.com banners - removed from main completely

I can confirm this only occurs when a specific ad is displayed (something about bicycles); however, the ad is in my language (Italian), thus it's probably user- or location-specific, and reproducing it would be quite difficult. The only thing i've noted is, this ad is always displayed on the left vertical ad panel.

And yes, this keeps happening; it just happened again a few minutes ago; also, it can happen both on the main page and when playing the game.

We have added your reward coins - maybe some failure occured on server.
Next time if you win coins make screenshot, pls.
And, keep calm  Smiley

He mentioned a very real problem, though: the displayed balance isn't automatically updated when you find the gold; if you don't reload the page, it just seems you got nothing.
Also, a message stating "you found the gold, game over, try again in 1 hour" would be useful, because it's not immediately obvious why the game ended suddenly when you still had 3 pickaxes.
