I thought 3Gb cards couldn't mine Ethereum as the DAG is over 3Gb now? Looks like my memory on the 1060 is Samsung.
Ethermine has an unusual payout scheme. Any recommendations on Ethermine vs Nanopool?

Mining with 1060 3Gb card
by

I have a rig with 2 1070 4Gb cards in it. If I add a 1060 3Gb card, does that mean the rig will no longer be able to mine Ethereum, or will the 1070 cards mine Ethereum, and the 1060 3Gb something else?
One of the buyers is facing this problem. Can anybody help?
Everytime i try plugging in the USB i get the following bubble message,
"One of the usb devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned, and windows does not recognize it. For assistance in solving this problem, click this message"
I checked further into the unknown device on device manager properties and the following error shows below,
"Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
I have tried this single miner on three different laptops and a desktop, using zadig and without using zadig. This is the only miner giving me problems. The green light flashes on it so i know its getting power but it is not working.

Sure, the overclocking/overvolting is a hardware mod, plus a frequency change in the cgminer startup line
I've been running Scripta since I received my miners. There was one incident when the devices were not showing and I had to reboot, but it has been solid for me the rest of the time.
Does the overvolting work with wheezy too?

Thanks but, I have a spare PS that came in the kit. Just looking for simple barrel to wire cables. Digikey has some, but they are too expensive. I'll try Dealextreme next.
I've set the frequency at 950 by editing the miner-start.sh file.

Well, I did it on all 10 units. took about an hour and a bit. 2 had cold solders but it was just a quick touchup to fix.

Thanks melmo,
I tried it on one unit prety much exactly how you said. I have a lot of 30gauge wire lying around from wire wrapping projects. My hands shake kinda bad, but was still able to do it without any damage. The magnafier lamp was a huge asset.
I'll tackle the rest of them tonight.
Here's my single modified unit running.

For the voltage mod, are you just bridging the pads with solder, or are you adding some resistance?
Also, from your last post, am I correct in assuming you are running the PS at 220 for the savings? I don't think mine powered on at 220V
A couple of tips: I noticed that the power supply has a switch on the side to select voltage. I had been running with it set to 220V, and was only pulling 58 watts from the wall. It was pretty stable like this at 850 MHz so I measured the voltage on one of the plugs and the power supply was only providing 10.8 volts. After switching to 110V, I was reading 11.9 volts and power usage went up about 10 watts.
After doing the voltage mod, I'm running stable at 401 Kh/s and pulling 82 watts at the wall for my 10 units.

You'll need to remove the fan screws on the top, remove the screws on the botton that hold the 2 heatsinks together, then use a soldering iron with a small tip to remove the + and - wires from the circuit board. They are easy to remove, just touch the joint with the iron and the wires will pop off.
Temps are fine, I'm still getting 0% HW errors. Note only do this if you plan to run the units in Scrypt mode only. If you run in SHA256, you will need the fans!

The top units are cool, and the bottom units are slightly warm to the touch.

Removed all but 2 of my fans. Think I'll get rid of one of the Power Supplies next and follow melmo's lead and remove all fans and have a larger fan pointing at the stacks.

Re: {OPEN} II. [0/100]Grid Seed (1300 USD),(2280 USD),(2200 USD) (Canada)
step by step. At step 6, I did the fix at the bottom of the same post.
At 900, I had 3 units that were throwing errors. All miners are 0% errors at 850 though..
when you get your Pi, I'll walk you through it in PM.
You can start by downloading the Scripta image in the post and W32DiskImager. Use the diskimager program to write the scripta image to the SD card.
When I booted my Pi, I used an IP scanner to find what IP my DHCP server gave it and used my browser to connect. http://www.advanced-ip-scanner.com

Mine came in today as well. No duty
Set it up in about 1 hour, however I trashed the controller and used my RPi with Scripta. Works like a charm.
Currently running at 850, but I will try 900. We don't need fans right? I can remove them if I am only running Scrypt I think. Cut down on noise and save energy.

Mine is on it's way, tracking shows it is in Canada now. I'm expecting it this week, probably in a day or two.
Did you guys received your orders? i want to join the next group buy, just looking for feedback.

EMACS/Zippy G1W 3960 Server PSU - How to short on?
by
MaxGen
on 18/03/2014, 01:22:33 UTC
Anyone have any ideas how I can mod/short this PSU to power on when not in the chassis? I figure the large pads are + and -, I just need to find a way to get this thing to power on without the server.
It's a EMACS/Zippy G1W 3960 960W PSU. I have 2 of them. Each one will easily power 2 overclocked Ant S1's, probably 3 non-overclocked units.
If anyone can think of a way for me to figure out how to get it to power on outside of the server, I'd really appreciate it.
