It's a valid fear. I think what is more likely that crypto being a scapegoat, is that they'll demonize non-institutional holders. Regulatory capture will increasingly pressure holders to put their crypto in the custody of approved places that play well with the government like Coinbase, where it can be bled dry with fees or wealth taxes.
