I'm no Meadowview, but would be glad to contribute 200 VTC, about 10% of le stash, currently.  Smiley

Every little helps jwinterm and we should all be just as grateful however much someone donates.  I've been with vert from the get go and find myself fortunate enough to have 2000 vtc to give, but I for one take my hat off and cheer a big Thank You to all who help VTC get where we know it can go.

And with that said, my hat goes off to you jwinterm and a Big Thank You too  Wink

Re: Thanks for the shout out :-)

That being said, I have been impressed by Doabiitofgood's stepping up to include a floundering coin in their efforts. I only wish the actual development team for CWC was as dedicated!

Hey thanks for the shout-out WALKEN-COIN -- please do not take the following as a personal attack -- I'm speaking generically...

I can't and of course will not speak for mindfox -- but I will say that I'm pretty impressed with the essentially SOLO effort he put in basically changing the tires on a moving car -- wow and bravo!

NFI what keeps him busy as a day job -- because he sure as hell isn't getting paid off of CWC work.

I know Zach has a fulltime gig as well -- but at least he has a legitimate non-profit going in California so that's something.

"Internet Time" is compressed -- "blockchain time" even more so.  Most people cannot contextualize the effort that goes into development of any idea -- and how long it takes.  We're so used to instant gratification that we lose perspective of the concurrence of events that facilitate it.  The sad thing is that most new inventions take about 20 years for widespread adoption.  Look it up if you don't believe me...

I'm frequently amused and sometimes stunned by the sheer lack of basic market mechanics by people here on BCT -- its as if they do not understand how exchange works?  For every buyer there has to be a seller -- the converse is definitely not true.  Not ever seller has a buyer.  Think about that.  I see the same naiive sentiment played across just about every coinbase -- people think there is a ready market to absorb their coins at some inflated profit opportunity.

If people were REALLY engaged in their coinbase they would be doing everything in their power to get their family and friends to download the wallets and send them some coins to get them engaged in the economy.  They would be trolling through Facebook boards for all pro-social water related pages (like Clean Water Action for example) -- extolling the virtues of CWC.

Instead what I see time and time again are bitter bagholders coming online to berate via "what have you done for me lately" posts demanding that the value of their investment magically arise.

Until we expand the economies and out the bad actors -- all crypto will be relegated to penny-stock (aka pink-sheet) status

IMHO

Here Here!  and I mean that with no offence, I just honestly think these are wise words.  Many thanks David for the Dropbox link, worked a treat.

Don't worry MeadowView - doabitofgood.com IS offline. If you wait a while, CloudFlare may load a saved 'snapshot' of the site if you're lucky. But the website is definitely offline at the moment.

The 192.168.1.87 address you quoted looks like your computer's IP address for your local network, the one you have in your home between your router and all the gizmos that connect to it like your TV, laptop, phone etc - this allows your router to differentiate between it and other devices that are directly connected together within your private network. Your router's IP address is usually 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.2.1 depending on the make of your router. I suspect your router is on 192.168.1.1 - If you type this into your web browser you should get into your router's settings and options page.

You can find out what your public IP address is - which identifies your computer to the rest of the internet, by simply asking Google - just type "What is my IP address?" into the search bar.

Thank You YouIsPeng, very helpful indeed, that has clear things up for me.  I guess I'll just wait for doabitofgood.com to come back online.  Just trying to get hold of a Mac wallet.

I really do hope this coin gets the success it deserves.

Thanks again  Cheesy

Thanks David, I really appreciate your help Smiley

Unfortunately, doabitofgood.com seems to be down.  I've tried it a couple of times now (both the link and home) and it still seems to be down.  Just wondering if I'm missing something or if you have any info.

Many thanks again for your help.

It's definitely up.  Likely a CloudFlare issue.  Can you tell me what IP address you're coming from?

-David

Sure, it's 192.168.1.87.  Thanks.

That's an off-net address  Tongue

Can you do a tracert or traceroute to "direct.doabitofgood.com" ?

Ah, ok.  tbh, I'm not sure what an "off-net" address is or what implication it has.  I've figured how to do a traceroute.  Am I ok to post the results here - I'm not sure what they mean.  Apologies for shamefully naive response  Grin

Hi all,
Great to see CWC making a well deserved come back.  Just wondering if we have a Mac wallet yet?

All the Best to All  Smiley

I can get you an unofficial Beta version that the Strength in Numbers Foundation coin-lab has produced.

-dvd

That would be fantastic.  Don't mind taking it for a road test - I'll report back if that helps Smiley

Here you go:

https://doabitofgood.com/saver/CleanWaterCoin.dmg.zip

Full disclosure -- there is a hard-wired donation address built into the new wallet -- for our purposes we have changed it from the default to our own https://doabitofgood.com/bit4bit of 5giverhUM5CCtQmvFRLzpYSCgEjwysC5Va

I have verified that it runs on:

+ Mac OS X 10.6.8 (32-bit)
+ Mac OS X 10.7.5 (64-bit)
+ Mac OS X 10.9.4 (64-bit)

Let me know if you have any issues?

Thanks for helping out!

Cleanwater explorer is up

http://explorer.cleanwatercoin.org

The explorer has the same problem the previous one had.

"I'm sorry, this address has too many records to display."

It is not a problem, it is a protection from DDoS attacks (or even other kind of attacks).
Remember, this is a block explorer not a rich list viewer.
The purpose of it is to show details about blocks and transactions, not total for addresses.
These are 2 different things (and a rich list is an entirely different beast)

The explorer is showing block 65977, whilst the pool is showing block 66552.  Just thought I'd let you know.

A little literature has appeared on blockchain.info, a derivation of Francisco d'Anconia's money speech from Atlas Shrugged to be precise.

Compared to the usual drivel left in public notes, I have to say I found this quite enlightening.  Thought it's worth a share.

For those who are having trouble synchronizing their wallets, try closing them for 24 hours and then re-downloading the blockchain.  You may be getting banned by legitimate nodes for inadvertently re-broadcasting blocks and transactions form an incorrect chain.

Yes, absolutely -- thank you OneFixt.

More Updates:
1. Costas (mindfox) is updating some things that will essentially hard code the nodes into the wallet and will stop new clients from accepting connections < 1.7.0.0. This will prevent what OneFixt mentioned from happening again (inadvertently re-broadcasting blocks and transactions from an incorrect chain).
2. We will be wrapping up the explorer in the next couple of days
3. Pool should be cleaned up and crons back on sometime tomorrow

All 3 items should be complete, tested, and pushed out within the next 3-4 days.

Once that is all complete and the network is more stable, we will be working with exchanges to make sure they are all squared away so we can put all this behind us and keep moving onward!

This might be a silly question, but does the following mean we can still mine on the official pool, we just won't see our coin until it's all cleaned up?

"Your shares and hashrate are safe and we will fix things ASAP"

Thanks in advance  Cheesy

Ya, that warning message should be gone now. We will be triple checking in the AM and then will fire up the crons. I'd also expect a bigger initial payout since blocks have been found during this down time -- just not report in the stats. Wink

That's great, thanks for that... and the mac wallet update too  Grin

Right then everybody, here's the 1st iteration of the new website.  Hope you like it  Cheesy

Let me know what you all think and I'll try to include as many amends as possible.  A few things to mention:  the site hasn't been optimised for mobile or tablet yet and furthermore needs to go through proper desktop optimisation to run super smoothly there as well.  Also, you'll notice some text reading "lorem ipsum..." This is where the new manifesto and strategy will be laid out.

Looking forward to your thoughts...

http://mtgoxcoin-test1.businesscatalyst.com/index.html

Very good for now. I like it.
The site looks different in IE and Chrome.
When click on the menu it slide the content left and cut half of the page.

Cheers for that saykor, I'll look into it.  Also, you said your are a developer - if you're up for it we may need you help.  We're going to be trying to pull off something quite innovative and we need all the help we can get.  PM me if you're interested...
