You need a 64 bit OS if you have more than 4GB of RAM.

What clocks do you run it at? which brand and cooler does it have? I cant seem to edit the voltage using MSI afterburner for some reason even though I have checked the option in settings. What would you say is a safe temp? I thought 80 was about right for most GPU's but this seems to run incredibly hot...

Powercolor Myst 7870 (Tahiti LE) Running hot stock clocks

Hi guys, just got a powercolor 7870 card for mining (7870XT) and its running really hot. Stock clocks it says are 925 core 1500 memory 975 boost core clock. I am running it at -3 power 950/1400 and its still hitting 84c every now and then (stable at 83) with the fan going up to 70%. Underneath it I have a 6950 dedicated to mining LTC and that is not unlocked (1408 shaders) but its running at +5 power/925 core/1350 mem and at 19 intensity stays at 76c with the fan only being at 56%. Considering the stock clocks of the 6950 are wayyyy before what I have overclocked it to and yet I am underclocking the 7870XT and its still over 80c am I worried, and while it is a sapphire dirt3 edition 6950 so it has 2 fans compared to the 1 on the 7870XT... its still strange
Any info? thanks guys.

Re: New mining rig, is it worth it? Are the parts good?
Spontaneous thought: I'd at least go for both cards 7950.
Is that worth it? the 7870 tahiti LE gets very similar hashrate for, well almost £100 cheaper. Albeit it does have a slightly higher power usage, I doubt it will use more power than the price gap.

That is the rig I am thinking of building. I will be mining BTC, and most likely LTC due to the much more profitable mining (http://dustcoin.com/mining)
I will sell all the game codes (bar maybe one crysis 3 as I don't own that and it looks good ). But yeah, do you think this looks good? I looked up the PSU usage and eXtreme calculator (http://www.extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine) recommended I get a 500W, so I think a 650W good branded bronze should be enough... idk how much it ACTUALLY uses though.
Also do you think its better to shaft one of the cards and perhaps try and find something like a 5850, or a 5970 for cheap on ebay? The website I am buying from is aria.co.uk if you guys want to look at the case etc, But it looks decent and will end up having 4 120MM overall (2 are included) do you think this will keep it cool enough?
Same problem here, woke up this morning, saw the incredibly low LTC price so I logged in to buy, only to find I can't login, and the "forgot your password" request ALWAYS just says incorrect captcha (even though I have clearly entered it correctly)

If you order now (and all else goes to plan) expected delivery date is May-June

Sadly not, it has very high hasrate for a nVidia card, but still much lower than AMD cards, and considering its 3x the price of a 7970 and 1/3 of the power, no one in their right mind would buy one for mining.

Not "legit"
But you can find lots of sites that will sell that stuff for bitcoins if you go on the... deep web *shivers*

They are shared equally, equally based on percentage of effort putting into mining it. If every single person got exactly the same what would be the point in buying anything other than a single GPU to mine with, meaning also no coins would be found?
Sadly it would not work.

Thanks In response yes, I was going to wait until they had delivered at least one unit before I ordered, I would love something like an Avalon but only half the price/power, problem is they don't make one, and BFL rigs look WAY more power efficient which is a big thing where I live Also I would need to buy in bitcoins (exchanges and stuff) and they have none in stock Q_Q.
My difficulty for worst case was 15m (which may still be off mind you), not 10m, that was my "realistic" estimate based on things I have seen around the forums and guessing from the last months increases and stuff.

I recommend not mining on nVidia. Not only is it WAY slower and obviously less efficient than an AMD GPU, you will most likely decrease the lifespan of your card more than the few cents you would make from the mining.
